We have the 2007 Outlander V6 with over 150,000 miles, it is one of the best car we ever had. No issue what so ever. I gave it to my son to use it for college. Still looks and drives great, and I use it to tow my boat. my other cars are Camry & Sentra, I will take the Outlander over the others.

yes sir I agree with you. I have a 2003 Montero limited Made in Japan and it has over 200K miles and still runs soo smoothly and perfectly like new. Its a 2003 but it still looks waay better than newer suv/crossovers and had driven it on the beach/sand snow without any problems as it was designed to do. If you take good care of Monty it will last you maybe up to million miles these Monteros are rare and special and only owners who own it like ur self and I will only understand, keep it you got a gem too!!!....

Have one for 8 months now. Great vehicle - almost 80~90% of driving is now done on EV only after you install a Level 2 home charger, and off-peak it takes about a $1 in electricity to 'fill-up'. I do wish the EV range was longer, but the fuel economy is great even when running in hybrid mode for something that has a huge cargo area, has AWD and weighs in at 1900kg.

No transmission I'd consider as massive advantage in terms of reliability. If not floored all the time the new version allows easily 40+ km battery range. Also the car has quite an interesting recuperation system. The various drive options hybrid, EV only and high performance could have been explained better for my taste. This car is way more interesting than how its presented in the video.

I own a Mitsubishi Outlander Sport 2015 with 30k on it. So far no technical issues. I avg about 25 mph and this comes with a 10-year powertrain warranty. No other company other than Hyundai does that. I got it around for the price of a basic sedan with 0% APR. For the price and warranty, i think people should appreciate it more. David G - So... you don’t follow the sport (trend?) of drifting? Ever heard of tuners? One of the first cars I owned, after a few American models was a Dodge Colt, a rebadged Mitsubishi Mirage. Turbo charged, more horsepower per pound of anything I’ve ever seen, a Tonka Toy type car that could literally fly, as in get air-born to the height of being eye to eye with the top of a stop sign, LOL! So light it was damn near indestructible unless you ran into something. Actually towed my fathers broken down motor home with it, red lining all the way, sold it w over 160k miles. That thing would do 120-130 mph all day long... well from Dallas to Austin in just a few hours anyway. I even got a ticket for 90 when he clocked me at 123 because I only could admit to doing over 85... because the speedometer pegged just past 85 mph. How do I know how fast I was going you ask? Because I’d blow past my friends who were doing over 120. That thing purred like a sewing machine at 9000 rpms. LMAO!

Always love to hear reviewers perspective. It’s great. But I think you missed a HUGE thing here... you kept comparing it to its gasoline competitors. The ones that don’t come with a v6, or the tow capacity... but not really hitting home that for a Plug in hybrid all wheel drive SUV, this thing is $20,000 less than any TRUE comparable- and those still don’t have the warranty as well. Just saying, put the real perspective on it. CRV is not PHEV, CX-5 is not PHEV, Tiguan is not, Rogue is not. Actually quite misrepresented🤔🤔🤔

@heyidiot
@heyidiot 5 лет назад
The slow response you see at 17:40 is due to the lack of any transmission of power to the wheels when you're under 65-70. The engine is just revving up to give a little more parallel hybrid power from the electric motors, and you only get direct drive to the front wheels kicking in at 65 MPH and above. So the larger engine wouldn't have done much for the 0-60 time. I've been getting between 18 to 28 miles of electric-only range, depending on how aggressive I drive, and whether I use that ECO button in the middle of the dash (7:18) at all, and how much regenerative braking is going on. Stop and go traffic really extends the range if you use the regenerative modes of the shifter a lot; that's what those paddles are for. In seven months of driving, over 3,500 miles, I've filled the tank only four times.

I think something that reviewers always forget when reviewing hybrids is that hybrid owners, like me, rarely if ever put their foot to the floor. The whole point in owning a hybrid is to get good mileage, not cross the finish line first.

Im a mechanic and i can tell you I’ve driven hondas teslas bmw etc. And this car is actually really good . Very Good mpg and does superb in the snow.it’s actually better safety rated than most vehicles.and if you complain about the interior and quality which is bs. The only vehicles you’ll feel the difference are 30k to 50k more.This suv has the best electric range than any other phev suv out there . This is the perfect vehicle for the average family in america especially in states with snow. If you can afford a volvo phev , bmw x5 phev with this options your not the average consumer and of course your gonna talk bad about this car because those vehicles will be 80k-100k but let me tell you wont get the same electric range this one gets.

The Prius has a 1.8l engine and a combined power output of 121 hp. The Camry Hybrid had a 2.5l and combined output of 208 hp. Hybrids make use of Atkinson cycle engines, and while they may be economical, powerful they aren't. For those that don't know, in a Atkinson cycle engine the power stroke is longer than the intake stroke. In a normal engine the exhaust is still expanding as it leaves the cylinder, this is sometimes put to use to power a turbo charger. The Atkinson cycle makes use of this still expanding gas to push the piston past it's normal stop point. In the old days this was all done with a complicated mechanical linkage. Today it is done with electronics, The intake stroke sucks in air, the power stroke pushes some of that air out of the cylinder before the valves close off. Engine size is determined by the swept volume of a cylinder multiplied by the number of cylinders, but in a Atkinson cycle the swept volume effectively varies, power comes from air plus fuel, in this case the amount of air is reduced so fuel is reduced, basically the engine capacity is a lot smaller than indicated. If a quarter of the air is pushed out and fuel is only added to what's left, then the engine really is, for a 2l, only 1.5l. The Prius is only 1.3l etc so you see why the engine output appears so low. No hate please, I am not a mechanic or engineer.

I don't think people give this enough credit. I own a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander GT...although not a hybrid, but it can handle quite a bit. I have already taken mine to Joshua Tree in the desert heat and it still operated very well as well as me taking it on some rough dirt roads. Then I took it up to big bear and unexpected I had to travel about 4 miles on a side of a mountain to get to a camp site. Mitsubishi is the very few companies that offer the best warranty out there with 10 years. The only complaint I have is that I wish the driver seat had lumbar support. Other than that, I think this guy complains way too much on the small stuff. The interior is dated? Yeah let me find a catalog that has a 2018 model of dash area....give me a break. Trust me everyone this is a great buy...this guy is just looking for that 'Hey I'm a hybrid and everything has to be over exited for me because I'm a hybrid!!' I like this Outlander Hybrid because other than a few logos that says it is a hybrid, it doesn't demand attention or have to make everything over dramatic just because it's a hybrid. I like the simple look without it having to look like it came from the 24th Centry like how this guy is wanting every hybrid to look. Mitsubishi keeps everything simple and has a lot of functions within..and as far as now, this is the only large SUV that had 2 electric motors that provide great 4WD power to all the wheels, and Mitsubishi does offer a warranty on their battery for 10 years!

@@ericvalenz On 100+ degree days, it's been just fine. I actually rode in the back seat (not 3rd row) just to check out this very point you're asking. The cool air does get back there just fine, and I've always asked my children that sit in the 3rd row if they can feel the cool air. They always have said it's OK. Nice review! I don't agree with the logic that it doesn't make sense if your commute is over 20 miles. That's still 20 miles you're driving nearly for free. And the rebate nullifies the added cost. Also, thinking long term, there will be more and more charging stations everywhere, and with the DC fast charging, you'll be able to drive even more on electric power. They've done a smart thing here. I also read that the 2019 version will have a larger battery (full federal credit, I think) and the 2.4L engine.

There has been an increase to 30 miles range and a larger 2.4 engine with a redesigned interior and more modern seats with quilted leather. I like your reviews but the engine (ICE) contributes so little power directly to the powertrain. So it made no sense for you to keep repeating, it needed a more powerful ICE. It needs more powerful electric motors (and it will getting one in the 2019 model year). I know your not an engineer and you gave a lot usually info on it. I just hope you get more familiar with the type and function of the EVs you review going forward. BTW-"2019" Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV specs is much better for its ICE. And has a little more powerful battery and E-motor (but both of them still not powerful enough) so thats what needs to be reviewed.... Overall still a good review just hope for a little more technical expertise from the reviews in the future.

Love your reviews .. you always do a great job. However, the steering wheel, chimes, instrument cluster, (and dashboard, etc) that came from a 10 year old Toyota?? Those are the things I love about those 10 year old Toyotas. I like modern things but I love those dashboard large knobs and manual traditional control, etc from that time. Everything was clear, simple, easy to use, and looked better. You mentioned "old" or "dated", I don't mind if its "dated" as long as it works better and looks nice. To bad they are going away from this and going to the gimmicky stuff. BTW, adjusting things when driving 70 mph is much easier (and safer) when you have manuals dashboard controls (like a large knob) - instead of taking your eyes off the road and trying to adjust things on a graphical touch screen.

i am looking for a new family car. I want an hybrid and this was top of my list. after this review I will have to reconsider. However, this was in my price range. I currently drive a Volvo V70 and I need a big trunk. I am really struggling to find a car that is meets my needs. It has to have plenty of trunk space, be hybrid, have to option of 4wD ( I live where it snows a lot). Damn, I did think this was the car for me. Gota keep looking thanks for the video.

Keep on making cars Mitsubishi, people who don't own them don't know the value you get.

The engine is not connected to the drive train at all. All it does is generate electricity to charge the battery and power the electric motors. Technically it is a gas-electric hybrid.

@@oFailBoat right it makes sense Nissan is surely declining in its relevance in the car industry. Sad to say but honda and Toyota has been leading the middle class buyers for quite some time
@banstaman
@banstaman 5 лет назад
@@MAXED-TRUCKING They own about 34% of Mitsubishi; so they don't outright own them but they're the single largest-shareholder and thus they have some control. As your point about Nissan's decline, I definitely see what you're saying. Their cars are boring AND unreliable; it's kind of like Volkswagen. If you're going to be boring and uninspiring, the cars should at least be reliable.

I like that it will drive all electric. I have a volt and am surprised that i spend 70-80% in Ev which gives me 130 MPG. My wife drive short distances so i would expect to get 80-90 MPG in the Outlander for our usage.

Haha the first thing i thought of when i saw the bonnet was Discovery or Land Rover too. The PHEV is a great idea, and fits where a lot of countries such as Australia are atm in term of moving towards electric, with nowhere near enough charging stations around for masses to move across.

Wow, the US price is about half of what it costs in Europe. AFAIK there's a new version with the 2.4L engine and a slightly bigger battery.

Okay, can several people clarify. How reliable are Mitsubishi vehicles now? I've seen too many conflicting opinions on Reddit and would like to know what the RU-vid audience thinks. Honestly, the Outlanders from 2007 onward don't seem bad but because of bad marketing I guess Mitsubishi lost some of its foothold in the US market and is trying to regain it.

Great Review. That limited overage fuel range certainly negates the benefits of this hybrid. 20 miles EV range is okay.

So it gets an A for effort, and a C for execution? In theory I would get one, but in practice I’ll stay with my gas powered CR-V until the Outlander matures a bit more.

I always loved Mitsubishi but they fell off hard. This thing actually looks kinda good.. If they made a high performance v6 turbo version i might give it a look.

Trying to think of any other plug in suvs with a 4wd option. None come to mind. This and the Pacifica hybrid can get away with things because they don’t have competition.

It looks great and seems like it works very well, but the Plug In Hybrid is terrible at being an AWD, their regular ICE version handles situation where AWD is needed, much better.

I think the fact that it can be AWD us a draw for ppl. I know it is for me. I need an SUV/CUV with AWD for snowy winters.....and one that doesn't break my bank ! This seems to fit the bill.
