Proud of my '18 R/T Plus but DAMNN was I on the fence!!! I couldn't decide.. Mustang 5.0 or Challenger R/T? The aggressive, more retro styling of the Challenger is what got me. Both very nice cars!

I like the R/T but it just won't hang with the GT and SS.Too heavy was Dodge's downfall on Charger and Challenger RTs.I still like the styling better.Its a personal preference.

Michael 426 Nice I had number 391. Stock for stock it used to pull on my uncle's 14 rt 100th anniversary edition. Those 3.91 gears made a difference.

Why don't you rev up your engine on the launch ?, It puts tension in your drivetrain , I'm putting nittos nt05 on my charger so I don't use traction control. Great race thanks for the vids 👍

Since the 5.7 isn’t a performance engine the 392 would be the more even race. Although the new ‘18 GT would probably still beat the 392 stock for stock and this is coming from a Scat Pack owner. Weight would be the most important factor.

Mark Tarver true. At 485 and 4300 to 460 and 3800 it’s pretty even could go either way but if both drivers are good stock for stock the new ‘18 GT should have a slight edge. Who stays stock though lol

Coop427 the 18 specs list the Challenger base curb weight at 4232 and the Charger at 4400 but I’m sure you could get those numbers down a little for the track.

Coop427 I was referring to the Scat Pack with the 392 but I’m sure that’s just an estimate they put out. My 18 might weigh more than my 16 did with the extra stuff I added like nappa/alcantara and dynamics etc. plus I weigh 190lbs lol.

$4000 difference in base manual cars. Put Cam, Headers, Tune, CAI, On a 5.7 challenger and it’ll walk a mustang all day and night

XCVI Mac yeah. Its not a performance model. Just an entry V8 for people with a smaller budget but still wanna have fun. Its a great idea being honest. Chevy and ford should do the same thing. Offer a smaller V8 so people can enjoy it for a smaller cost

The R/T isnt what it used to be. Its not the performance model anymore. Its just an entry level V8 thats meant for people who want a little fun for a good price tag. It doesnt compete with anything nor is it meant to. The scat pack is the competition for the mustang GT and SS camaro. So theres no comparison here.

Tristan Hartman the problem there is that there's barely a $1k difference between a 2018 challenger r/t and a 2018 mustang gt. Dodge is a whole "tier" off with their $ vs performance against Ford and Chevy.

Mustang 5.0 is really the ultimate American muscle car on the road today. They really improved the body style a lot these days too. With that being said...the Dodge Challenger is exactly that...a "challenger" to the champion mustang. Not to mention it's only gonna last til about 60k miles then it needs constant work like all dodges. Just read the reviews if you don't believe me

My dad has a 2015 hellcat with over 120,000 miles on it, 0 problems ever. Not to mention this race was between a rt (375hp 410lb ft) vs a 2018 gt which not only has the 10 speed auto but 460hp and somewhere around 450lb ft. I walk 5.0s in my scat pack, the mustang is a joke😭

When you compare cars you go buy year and category the mustang is newer the 2015 mustang would have been a more even race but there both the entry level V8 .... The second level is the 5.2 gt350 vs the 6.4 scatpack or srt The third level is gt500 vs hellcat

If you go for an R/T than you’re not looking to race. I got a 2018 RT+ yesterday and love it! Mustangs feel too cramped inside and I love the sound of the Hemi anyways.

The 5.7 Challenger is never going to beat the 2018 GT without mods, having said that the car is respectable considering how heavy it is and having only 372 h.p or 375 with the manual still can do a 5.1 zero to 60. The SRT/Scats have similar performance data as the new Mustangs and it would be a driver's race between those cars and the new GTs. The 5.7 Challengers are marketed toward people that want something more than the v-6, but are content with not drag racing the car.

I still give you all the credit for actually racing. Which is why I think you need a faster car. The scatpack is perfect for u. It's fast and affordable. It will help the channel grow. We already know a Hellcat and a z06 will outrun most cars. Most of us want to see a good race vs cars that most of us either have or will have. And most of us want to see a good race like a scatpack vs a 5.0 or something in that range.

Not a fair comparison. I own a mustang gt....it's a better car, and much better handling than the challenger, but the mustang should be compared with the challenger SRT...NOT THE R/T! The SRT has more horses, (485) but it's about 500 pounds heavier than the mustang. The R/T in this video has only 375 horses to the Mustangs 460, and the rt is heavier as well.

Here's an idea: race the actual competitor for the gt (cough cough scat pack) damn near same horsepower. Surprise surprise the car with more horsepower won🤔 it would also get eaten by the mustang (lighter) and for the record I'd still own the 392 even if it is slower

those new 10 speeds are no joke I have a 2017 ss 8 speed and i get gapped by the new 10 speed gt scat packs are a walk in the park though lol and obviously a supercharged hellcat will beat us all
