J Yes they have a ton of Asians, especially Chinese in Vancouver. As you might know, Canada has a good reputation for being welcoming so many immigrants are drawn there.
I’m from Sheffield and Liam is a couple of years older than me, and I am proud to say that I wrestled him to the ground in a premier inn on New Years. That’s my claim to fame.
Looking back at all these videos ive never watched, gained a ton of respect on top of the respect I had watching your opinions the past year. Keep tearing it up man
He's different than Phil Kessel, he's completely insane. He's spat on homeless people, kicked out of school, but if he wasn't a fucking idiot, he would go top 5 in the draft
Hey Steve, I'm a Canucks fan who's been listening to you for at least six years, I've lost track of when I started but I know it's been at least that long. I love your videos and podcasts, they're so much fun and I love the passion and energy you always have. I also think that you have one of the best hockey perspective out there, I think you see and understand the game extremely well and I like how you always try to see things from different perspectives. There's something that has frustrated me a little over the last couple years though. I've never watched you for Canucks coverage but I feel like it's the Canadian team you pay the least attention to by a fair bit, maybe Calgary too. It would be awesome if you did put a little more time into the Canucks when you have a chance. This video's a good example, you pretty much said nothing about the Canucks draft pick and it's not like there aren't things to say about it, it's quite surprising Hughes was available and he promises to be a very important piece for the Canucks. All in all I love your videos and podcasts, I'm not going to stop watching anytime soon. You Jesse and Adam are awesome and I hope you keep doing what you're doing for a long time. A tiny tiny bit more Canucks coverage would be awesome, I'd love to hear what you guys have to say! Cheers
It's been 2 years and I'm glad that I have started my Steve Dangle journey with this video. Svech got drafted, the Canes made the conference finals, they beat the leafs with a zamboni driver, and most importantly you had a son. Thank you for a great two years
"I saw one game of kotkaniemi last year" I saw 29 how is that? Ha? But in my eyes if habs dont ruin him they might have legit top 3 prospect, i live in finland and i am a fan of ässät, he is Good with the puck, physical and has a good shot, they shouldnt be worried
There’s no question he’s good, but could they have at least moved down and acquired another pick or prospect in the process? There is no way that Ottawa or Detroit was going to take him, and I don’t think Arizona would have because they liked Hayton better
Brendan Fox Thats a valid point bur they really wanted him so they couldnt trust the other teams so they just picked him, i am just fucking mad that habs fans are saying shit about him without seeing a game I JUST HATE IT
I'm a Habs fan and I love the pick.. Its always fans that watch 2 games a year and think they know hockey. The real Habs fans who know hockey appreciate this pick
Random Guy that loves Street Fighter Good draft overall. I don't care if he's ready to step in next year or not. He'll play when he's ready. Check out Trevor Timmins video on Habs TV talking about the players he picked and didn't pick.
Dude, he's a winger...... I don't get this Habs garb of calling wingers centres. Katkaniemi is the same deal as Drouin a career winger who filled in a centre a little bit.
As I Sheffield Steelers fan, I have to say a huge big-up for the mention of Liam Kirk! He's a great kid with plenty of talent, I hope in a few years we see him get some ice time as it would represent a huge step forward for British hockey to get a truly homegrown player to the NHL.
And come to think of it, Colin Shields, who is currently plying his trade for the Belfast Giants, was drafted by Philadelphia in 2000. Sorry to nitpick! I love your LFR and podcasts and am probably the biggest Leafs fan in Scotland. Hope you have a great trip!
In all fairness, Filip Zadina is as big of a bust at this point than Jesperi Kotkaniemi, so it didn't matter which player Montreal took, Brady Tkachuk was who they should have taken. In fact, the 2018 draft is looking even weaker in hindsight than we thought it would be at the time. It wasn't a draft I payed particularly close attention to because my team didn't have a first rounder, and the 2nd round pick they took a guy from Sweden, and the 3rd rounder was from the Czech Republic. But looking back as a Bruins fan, the 2018 draft is probably our worst 1 in the past decade at least, and depth, or lack there of, is certainly is a factor.
Nice to hear Liam Kirk get a mention tbh i cant see it paying off im sure i wont struggle to get seats over here but you never know id love Team GB to one day be semi able to compete but if it happens which i doubt, it probably wont be in my life time
FTR--Canes partial STH here. Hate to see Hanny leave, but the front office wanted a shake up. This is how you do it. I've been to practices and have always been impressed how fast his hands are. Not sure if he'll ever reach the peak so many expected, but if motivated he could be a true asset for the Flames. Lindholm--we always expected more. Not sure if he's peaked or not, and CERTAINLY not the bust Boychuk was within the organization, but he never turned into what we needed/expected in NC. And then him wanting too much money for lack of production, it was obvious he was out the door. Still excited for what we got, especially if Fox turns into what so many people say he could be in a couple seasons. #isitoctoberyet
Did you guys pick one player from any European leagues? I'm a Bruins fan but I find that very interesting as the Bruins seem to always draft from Europe.
The 2018/19 season will be the first I'll be seeing in full, from the beginning. As a Leaf fan, I'm hoping these picks, based on their stats, will elevate the team in areas that deffo need improvement (ie centers, like you said). I'm still learning the in's and out's of the sport, but what I do know is never underestimate the little guy (look at Marner, small but mighty!) This was also the first draft I've ever experienced, & it was so exhausting lmao. Also, LET DOUGIE ENJOY HIS MUSEUMS GODDAMNIT
my cousin who is from Scotland is currently at an international tournament in Slovenia to play hockey. he’s only like 12 but already the best player on his U13 team and the captain. hope he can make it to the NHL
6 swedish players in first round is what I will remember from this year. 4 last year. National youth development seem to work well here, pretty excited about the future.
LoL I probably ran my fingers through the front of my hair subconsciously about 10 times during this video because of that little piece of yours hanging down. haha Great video. Thanks for making it!
Hey! I'm a Spokane fan. I think Kral will do very well if he gets signed with the Leafs, or even the Marlies. He's a neat guy, I've met him a few times. And I just love my team.
Now in 2022, the Hurricanes have both the 2nd AND 3rd overall picks from this draft and both are locked up long term to hopefully be long time pieces on a contending team. Funny how things change in just a few years. Shame we couldn't keep Fox too, but still.
I am from Halifax and have seen Zadina play multiple times and he is something else so I hope he shows them that it was a mistake not picking him and please Detroit don’t ruin him
Correct me if I’m wrong but acording to my dad who talked to lindholm on the subject, (and my dad who could have miss understod him) lindholm is a freagent this of season.
As someone who lives in the Soo, Sandin and Hallowel are very good. Sandin especially, he and Liljgren will be excellent top four blueliners down the road
Can you do a video breaking down the two dumpster fires that are Ottawa and Montreal? Keep up the good work, ya dirty leaf! Plus, wish Boston had a higher pick for Zadina, he'd have fun with the montreal and Ottawa hate lol
I thought I was hallucinating when I saw an Aberdeen Lynx jersey in the thumbnail! That's my hometown and hockey really isn't a big deal here in Scotland!
Steve! I'm here from the future Steve, and I have an important message. John Tavares' list is actually a bigger deal in ways I can't quite tell you yet.
Der-ga-chin-sev. (At least I think) He played on a line with korostalev last year with the Pete’s and they had some good chemistry with gogolev on the Russian line but the Pete’s were tanking and traded their number 1 centre so they didn’t make the playoffs sadly.
Kotkaniemi played wing all last year, because he bumped up into another league and the team was heavy at center already. Fair enough, but that's a year not playing center. I dunno, I think it's easy and fashionable to make fun of Bergevin these days. But as a Leaf fan, I can't speak highly enough of Bergevin. I think he knocked this one out of the park, Mr. Molson. You should give him a lifetime contract.
Rod Challis gfy lolll Of course, as a Habs fan, I find we’re too hard on Garth Snow as a GM. And I really hope the Isles keep h8m around for a looonngg time!
Maybe high school French in Calgary set my standards too low, but I have to say your accent in French is surprisinly good given you had to google it! I was going "wait, Steve speaks French?" right up until you got to that bit.
I know the Carolina-Calgary trade had bigger names going both ways, but I am not sure the most effective trade wasn't Washington using Grubauer to get Brooks Orpik's contract off the books scot-free AND pick up a 2nd round choice. Not only that, but with the Avs buying out Orpik, he may end up re-signing with Washington for a much more reasonable number, knowing he is getting paid anyway. With his contract plus the $2.5+ that Grubi would have cost off the Cap's cap, they have the money to re-sign all the players from the Cup-winning team that they want to re-sign. Brian MacLellan is pretty good at this GMing thing.
Thanks for mentioning Liam - he is an amazing talent with the right attitude (If he was North American, he would have been drafted in 4th / 5th round easily). Love your passion too! Subscribe!
Austin Dwyer From last year to this year he fell HARD. Only got about 30 points and didn’t even play on the first line for Sudbury. He got hurt and never really got back into shape. My money says he might get drafted next year in the 4th round as an overage player if he returns to form
Was surprised to realize that Dave Morrison is still on the Leafs scouting staff. Might explain some of these picks. People give too much pick attribution to the GM.
