Own a 2018 launch edition. 85k miles. Alternator replacement, and headlight replacement other than that the car has been the least expensive car to perform regular maintenance I've ever owned. Love the car and will keep it for many years to come.

Wow this is a bad review and comments! I have a 2018 SEL Atlas VR6. I have been notified of only 2 recalls in May of 2023. The dealer still does not have the part needed for one. I've had the battery replaced under warranty in 2020. I replaced the brakes myself front and rear just shy of 60k because the dealer was extremely expensive. Easy job if you buy the $50 Ancel code reader to retract the rear parking brake. Great mileage on the brakes. This has been a great vehicle for my family. I have enjoyed the safety tech, quiet ride, handling, room for passengers and cargo.

2018 Atlas…Coolant leak…engine misfiring…all at the grand old age of 44000 miles. Oh, and the dealership took the wheel off to check squeaky brakes and unfortunately did not tighten the bolts. Just picked up my Honda Pilot yesterday 💪

And those Pilots didn't have a few units with some kind of problem? We have the 2018 and no problems with it whatsoever.

2018 SE, none of those issue applied to our vehicle. Also, being a lower trim, means less shit. Seats are manual adjustment. No useless moonroof. Manual lifgate, etc. And isnt that the case with every manufacturer? There will always be a few units that will have something.

My 2018 with 65,000 miles just had multiple head gasket issues. The coolant leak is real, please check your levels. The dealership said it was normal to lose some during oil changes. How sad, after the Touareg buy back and now this, I guess shame on me.

Had VW 2018 Model (Tech Version) and within two days the car stopped on the road ( pusk started stopped working) and had to tow the car . Again after one month , I had the replace whole informative center because it stooped . After 11 K mileage I had to replace the brake and rotors ( even junk yard car has better brake system) . Also oil was leaking from the engine , dead battery, coolant issues, replace ties and many other issue. VW dealership didn't even offer any courtesy vehicle while I had those issues during warranty period. I have spent over 3K grand out of my pocket to take care of those issues even the car was under warranty . Finally got rid of this and got a Cadillac XT6

Got a 2018 SEL atlas, currently 46K miles on it. Got a ton of recalls for sure that I had fixed whenever we had the vehicle serviced, especially the first 2 years. Never had any issues though. Been reliable and a great family hauler for my family. Maybe I got lucky . Only downside I have had is its gas consumption, its definitely a gas guzzler.

110% facts I have a 2022 bought new off the lot- pure shit box- I've had to take it into VW over 11 times!!!!!! death rattle when breaking- shuts off and forces manual restart warped wheel wells etc.

I would not buy the VW again, many issues with my brand new purchased 2018 model R line- Atlas, which only less than 65k miles. Problems with thr following: Purge valve, radiator leak, catelytic converter sensor, front wheels rotor disc, fuel pump, water pump and more. I am going to get Toyota or Honda next and never go back to VW. VW suck.

I turned in my Atlas for a Honda Pilot. What a world of difference in the way it handles and hums. And the worry I no longer have is priceless.

@andreascorpio2456 We have a 2018 VR6 and I also have zero worries. Doesn't give trouble and runs great. The only complaint I have is the soft suspension, but it's not a race car, so it's OK.

Are the 2020 and newer having issues? I'm currently looking at those years.
@carproblemsmax

The 2018 is the worst. The 2020 MY is much better. There are only 22 complaints and the worst of them are brakes acting up because of wires problems. And front airbags deploy with delay, also because of bad wiring.
