Massive respect for Thor going for the 500kg when he already had the event in the bag - a monster lift that could've risked losing the rest of the contest. Giving the fans what they want!
Hopefully since they are able to now really market themselves so well nowadays it’ll change. They all have RU-vid channels & Instagram pages. Brian Shaw, Eddie Hall, Robert Oberst, & Nick Best did an awesome short 7-episode series for History TV. They have more opportunity than they ever have, so here’s hoping the trend continues.
Prize money for bodybuilding in general is trash. This is an Arnold Schwarzenegger show, a guy who’s background is in bodybuilding. Of course you’re going to see similar pay and pay structures to something like the IFBB.
They make almost all their money in sponsorships. The TRUE prize isn't the show money, it's the exposure they receive from winning that causes companies to pay them very well to use their name to promote their brand.
I think what happened is his teammate headbutted him to psyche him up which caused a little bump on his forehead first, then it burst when lifting due to the tremendous blood pressure.
Might be American, but I'm rooting for every single one of these men! That's why I love this sport!!! It's not country vs country. It's just dudes picking up super heavy stuff =)
These guys need to get paid way more. Such humble and awesome human beings, always conducting themselves with humility and respecting one another. Humble in their victory and gracious in their defeats.
It still surprises me that the automotive industry doesn't start paying these men to advertise their trucks instead of gay cowboys eating pudding. Would be nice to see these guys get a fuck load more money for destroying their bodies.
@@VerisimilitudeDude A lazy fuck and a LIAR too. If you heard him claim to be "completely surprised" that gear is being used at the top level... fucking dirty piece of shit.
Texans Fan yes but that’s the same with how any event works. Some kid just won 1million for playing fortnite. Not to mention his sponsorships. Competitive lifting requires the most hard work and dedication than almost any other sport, and they still make pennies compared to other sports. Kind of sad to see
Not sure if he can ever lift that. I think he reached his limit and it makes me sad to see that. Thor now I think still has another 3 years to hit that 500kg.
brian shaw continues to deny the fact that he reached his limit but i think he should accept the cold hard truth and start spending more time with his family and cutting down on training!
Yeah 3 of the top 4 deadlifters hurt. Opens the door for licis. I've been following his training for the whole prep he did awesome today on wheel of pain
I'm not disrespecting anyone here but these guys train alllll the freakin time. Not saying they didn't earn it. But they got this way by hard work and dedication. Everyone gets to where they are by hard work, dedication, and consistency. And these people have sponsors that help them train all year round. I'm sure these guys do not have full time jobs. Well most of them I'm sure.
@@becool5706 they don't earn as much as bodybuilders. Yes they get paid but only the big ones, Brian Shaw, thor, eddie, big z can effort to live just by their sponsors and price money I think. Piwerlidters for example maybe get paid by the apinsirs but by far not enough to live. So they have fulltime jobs as well as many professional strongmen
@@IPYES perhaps. But I really doubt that they are working fulltime and in training camp getting ready for competition. They are getting paid while training for these big events..... even the lower end athletes. They just are not being sponsored like the top athletes are.
I'm actually proud of Kieliszkowski's deadlift. He's improving.....once he figures out whatever it is.....he's going to explode in this lift I think. The dude is a freak of nature in so many awesome ways.
Duncan MacDonald he’s not as strong as I thought he was gonna be tbh. Attempted 501kg on an elephant bar which is easier and still didn’t do it. I thought he’d be smashing the records by now
@@zakapholiac9377 Yoo, eddy was fucked up after the 500kg, Thor has to think about the rest of the arnold. Eddy was flat out after that lift. And this is first event c'mon dude
Hey Jason, I'm 6'5" and 290. I always get comments on being big person. Yet they have upwards of 150 pounds on me. I think it would be funny for me to be around them and feel small for a change LOL.
If you came for Thor, here it is... First attempt: 955lbs => prep 41:00; lift 41:33 Second attempt: 1045lbs => prep 1:06:54; lift 1:07:00 Third attempt: 1105lbs => prep 1:24:17; lift 1:25:06
I'm here at the Arnold....well, in my hotel right now, but this event was even better in person, and Rouge fitness is the elite of elites, when it comes to quality, they don't half step at all! Can't wait to see them push the wheel of pain tomorrow!
@There Was An Attempt I really don't know to be honest, I'm in the Air Force, and my squadron's first sergeant had 10 tickets to give away, so I got lucky to get one.
that reminds of the time when i thought deadlifting was bullshit, now here i'm cheering for these guys, getting really hyped and wishing to deadlift 24/7
@Đức Trần do know whats sarcasm really is? Is the fact short midget men who are shorter than 6 2 will never be men. They watch these shows made for us big guys and day dream to become like us fully grown men. Whenever i see short man in my gym i have strong urge to beat the living hell out of him and put him in his place.
@@TheTmshuman Mike tyson was roid freak, but still i can beat his ass even in his prime. I will use my longer reach to absolutely dominate him and leave him crying and defeated from realizing he cant reach my ears to bite them
Fucking respect to everyone who put hands on that bar. Absolutely incredible to pick that kind of insane weight on such an unforgiving bar. Really wanted to see both Shaw and Hafthor get those weights up but they still beasted more then anyone else out there.
I feel like Thor's 1045lbs deadlift threw Shaw off his game, and that's when he started losing his fire. If Thor had failed it, he likely wouldn't have felt low. It's in his head. But hey, these guys are beasts. EDIT: So, it's not "in his head" like I said. Looks like it's an injury case, so that's even worse.
Nah Man He just isn't at quite there.... 20-30 pounds lighter went slower for him in training than 1040 did for Thor. Brian is a beast and a helluva strongman but he isn't passing Thor in deadlifts at this point.
It looked like his setup for his third attempt was completely different from his 2nd attempt. The timing was way off. He usually pulls the bar further out before he brings it in then his pause before he went up was way longer. I think mentally he wasnt all in it.
I am not sure honestly if he could have done it without dying. His effort made him bleed from his forehead, concussion is next thing to happen. Eddie Hall lifted 500kg with a deadlift suit and almost died.
@@OdinsKoch Absolutely right, its plain to see in the clip, the sock slides on the wood so he had to drop the weight, with more grip on his feet he would have made that lift, he already had it in the air and just needed to lock out
Larry is definitely benefiting more than Hafthor, but yes, you're right, he's a top level training partner to have for sure. And now we've seen them BOTH bleed from massive lifts lol ( Larry chest, Hafthor forehead )
Cool - I think Larry has a bright future in strongman if he makes it his main focus. Strongman / powerlifting is way more rewarding than bodybuilding IMO. He has so much athleticism that it'd be a waste to just be a bodybuilder.
These records require a unique individuals... Like you can't even have a normal athlete push these levels... It's definitely a gift and a passion that I can respect u know. Play ur strengths and weed out the weaknesses along the way.
Kieliszkowski and Licis im rooting for them. i love licis humor on his yt account and kieliszkowski's humbleness. im sure there will be a good showdown between them in the future.
I was so sad to see him miss 1001. It seemed to me like he was a little off his game right before the lift. Notice when the guy starts slapping him hard on the back to psych him up, it appears he gets a little angry. No shame in Martin's placing though. His day will come. He's only getting better and stronger.
The Bear he may be boring but there’s no need to call him a cunt for at least trying his best. The man hasn’t done anything to you but you feel the need to insult him because you think he’s boring.
@@owo7094 I personally get a much better experience from the moment there, without holding my phone and making sure i got it on video. You can always watch better quality videos later here anyway.
