Before Tombstone faced Bite Force... it's hard to believe when Ray Billings said they have to bring their last spare frame. And Tombstone looked seemingly fine in its previous bout.
I usually root against Tombstone, but after hearing about how amazing a driver Matty Vasquez is and how he apparently “doesn’t protect his wheels because he doesn’t need to,” it’s kinda satisfying to watch Tombstone shred it up.
I think the design itself protects the wheels, everytime someone try to attack the wheels tombostone rotates against the oponent, kind hugs him denying pressure on their wheel to rip off
It didn't really become more fragile, the bot just couldn't handle how much force ray wanted it to dish out, that and with heavier armor and a slight slope on armor tombstone becomes nothing more than a showman
I literally just watched whiplash vs icewave and I was so mad how icewave had 0 control over their bot .. but this one was so enjoyable to watch. whiplash tried using tactics, but tombstone's driver is also good and he did that sideways turn swipe. He does seem to overturn a bit, but that thing just hits so hard. Only thing i don't like about tombstone is those exposed wheels, I'd build something around it or build them into the chassis like carbide.
There's always a matter of needing to sacrifice weight somewhere else if you want to cover wheels, and also hitting the cover can be just as bad as hitting the wheels if the cover gets bent and blocks the wheel, also ray is a good enough driver and tombstone a manueverable enough bot that you can just rotate to always keep the blade facing the opponent tldr not worth the weight just use the weapon as defence
Its not overturning, that's tombstones weapon accelerating. Those little 360's tombstone does after hitting whisplash are caused by the force of tombstones bar spinning up goes back into tombstones body, making it rotate.
Thats called a box rush. Its a common strategy employed vs horizantal spinners to try to stop their weapon from getting up to speed. Tombstone just had a much faster spinup time thab they were excepting, so instead of getting an ealy advantage they got swatted away.

@@chrispile3878 Tombstone is often his own worst enemy. In many of his defeats, he sustained more damage from the recoil of his own weapon than from his opponent.
lol I mae one, it can take a 300 pound object moving a 1000 rpm.. and it kills in one shot :-) the spike is driven by by a electromagnetic ring.. about the power of a ,50cal slap round,,, it goes through 1/4" of steel... then I find out its only brits....the dont accept anyone else ( to scared to see total destruction of the bots I guess) razer is probably to powerfull (from robot wars) that thing pierced all... no wonder its the champ LOL
Well I'll give you my reaction if I thought you were serious Are you crazy!??? Whiplash is a top tier bot every season he is a massive threat to all bots of this generation prove. He's not anywhere near my favorite neither he just earned his respect from how good he actually is.
...this is supposed to be the "Driving prodigy"? With his strategy of "feed my bot to Tombstone's weapon by moving directly into it"? Well, at least they're very good at building bots, Whiplash certainly survived more hits from Tombstone than most do, not being sarcastic when I say that that's worth something, that bot is never knocked out in one hit some some weak bots are.
What else would they do? They didn't have a good anti-horizontal setup at the time so they could only hope to ram into Tombstones weapon and slow it down enough to control the fight.

Odd that nobody talks about his driving when he is so good at it that it won him more than one tournament. Can you seriously say that Whiplash has a better driver than Bite Force? Whiplash suffers from being a defensive tank that is stuck with an amateur driver who just repeats the same strategy over and over. Getting tired of hearing about "Matty", the "driving prodigy who is great at driving" when a good driver adapts much better than whatever you would call this extremely embarrassing display.
@@AetheliaWhen did I ever compare Matt to Paul? I know Paul is an incredible driver but he won against Tombstone twice due to the fact that he had anti-horizontal setups on his bot. When you fight a bot like Tombstone, you have to remember that it's an incredibly destructive bot and you really have to play aggressive or have an incredible defensive setup. If you watch the fight again you can actually see Matt continue to try and point the remaining wedge at Tombstone whenever they go for a hit, trying to keep them away from the exposed half. Not to mention that this season they also fought Son of Whyachi, another horizontal spinner, where they won by implementing the same strategy they used against Tombstone
It’s got better armor and is more stable, but tombstone has a sizable power and range advantage. I can’t really call either one better than the other. Their just specialized to fight in different metas.
Whiplash is the exact opposite of a big joke. It was the season 5 runner up, it’s one of the best driven battlebots ever, and it beat competitors like Hydra, Minotaur, Bronco, and many more

@@dippyfresh1116 Be serious. The only reason Whiplash is kept around at all is because they contribute financially to BattleBots. Which I appreciate very much, they keep alive something we all love, and we should thank them for that. But the bot is a dull Bite Force clone. And if you watch the video, you would see that "best driven" is pure nonsense, it is just something they say, like pretending for the camera that Ray is a bad guy.
If you want to mess with Texas.........just cut the electricity. Most of the people that live there can't function day to day without it. Heat or cold. (the cold part is hilarious)
Whiplash literally has the highest ELO other than biteforce right now. You could say that the ELO system used was flawed, but so flawed that the #2 bot "sucks"? Really?
