I did headers on my 18 in a garage on jackstands too. A harbor freight special creeper and those offset wrenches made my life so much easier, can't imagine working under my car without the creeper now

Alex, if you are having trouble getting to a bolt with a wrench or socket, look up “crows foot wrench”. It’s basically a open end wrench, head only, with a square hole on the end that fits a socket wrench and/or extension so you can get to the bolts on the header wear the pipe is in the way. I haven’t done your exact install but I use this tool often on header installs and it’s a game changer. Let me know if it helps you.

I did this install as you're doing it , on jackstands & I can almost guarantee you will feel as I did in the end...ENCOJONAAAOOO...I believe true old school older guys like us have a totally different interpretation of a "True daily driver" and losing the amenities these turbo kits require to run is definitely not worth it...I figured out a way to mount my washer bottle back, but was beyond pissed with losing my sway bar & bumper bar. Wrapping/insulating & relocating/securing the harnesses WILL BE A MUST Alex or you're melting it for sure once u set that engine down on its mounts....In my honest 100% opinion, these type of kits make big power but u lose more than u gain if you are honest about it being a TRUE "Daily driven streetcar"

I will wrap and insulate where it comes close to wiring and tubing. But screw insulating most of it. Lol if i have to do that I'll take pleasure on dismounting all of it.

This looks EXACTLY like the PowerHouse turbo kit I installed on my old 3v car years ago (with the exception of the turbo headers). Not that it matters but here’s my opinion ; send that POS back and buy a low mount turbo kit that requires little to no changes 👍

100 percent lava-wrap the headers -and- the PCM wiring. When I started turning it up I burned through five wires to the BCM(1) because I only wrapped the harness. You already have the headers on and I don't see you taking them back off, but at minimum use a heat sleeve for the wires and lava-wrap that and you should be fine. if you didn't get a custom A/C line with your kit then you'll need one. If you end up needing one I can probably give you my custom one because I'm going to remove my A/C all around to have more room on the bay and to use the factory dual fan shroud.

@@YDBT4LIFE you're better off stopping now then, IMHO. I'd straight trade for an Aldo kit or Hellion. Way more street friendly. And this kit was fun when I was manual, but that bumper exit exhaust is cool, but for an hour max. But maybe I'm just getting old.

It's not over tightening, the aluminum on steel bolts bind and cause way more friction than shitty iron blocks with steel bolts👍🏼

Can't wait to see how you handle those wires that are too close to the header. Washer bottle, not a big deal, but sway bar would be.

A couple of suggestions: remove the shock tower insulation, at high Temps it will smolder and ruin the paint underneath(from exp.) Heat shield everything as much as possible, inconel turbine shield. Anything within 4" of hot side piping will melt. I would seriously consider a jet hot coating over exhaust wraps(also from exp.)use antiseize on all the bolts that will get hot, header, turbine clamps. The heat cycles will fuck with the threads and make your life miserable in the future. Other than that enjoy the process and think slowly

Seems like low mount twins are better for street use, even if you have to deal with a scavenging oil pump. I don’t think I could live without the front sway bar on the street.

You’re gonna need to relocate that harness on the passenger side, I learned the hard way and it was panini pressed by the exhaust and melted some wires.. also wrap the brake line on the driver side or you’re gonna have a bad time

Also, you’re gonna need to cut a (big) hole in the fender apron on the driver side near the fuse box to re route the wires coming from inside the car

What’s going to suck is you will need to retighten all the manifold bolts. Didn’t do it with my car for the headers and 2 bolts fell out and several were hand tight.

Doing headers on mine took about 16 hours, 14.5 hours was messing with pass side, drivers side maybe 1.5 hours lol I know youre doing this for content and its an interesting experience to log and document but damn....

3 different types of bolts? No thanks I always swap them out with new hardware. Arp makes some bolt kits with flanged heads that make life a bit easier.

As I can tell with many of y’all in the comments it seems y’all are unaware of which kit this is and how it’s really meant for more of drag-racing focused this kit is and how it’s not very DD friendly if you’re looking to keep a lot of factory trim and appearance.

I deleted my windshield washer reservoir when I installed my vortech cause it was a pain to reinstall. I keep my car clean all the time so I never even used it anyways

Alex look into getting some header wrap if wiring harness is to close for comfort definitely helps out

Yea that's gonna suck bigtime as i won't be able to wrap the headers at all in the car. So we'll see what i can get away with, probably better off shielding what it's gonna burn as opposed as to wrapping everything

@@YDBT4LIFE Yeap you can get some dei heat sleeves that Velcro together at O’Reilly. That’s what I use to put around any wires or hoses that are close to hotside.

I had to remove the sway bar for my crank support setup, I guess steeda makes some adjustable ones that can fit around the support? Might be the case for this setup?

For NA daily driver do you or the chat recommend 1 7/8" LT or go smaller with 1 3/4" 1 5/8" diameter for more low end tq? I know smaller 4.8 5.3L LS like the smaller 1 3/4" for over all power and tq verse 1 7/8" to gain 3-4 more hp up top but lose 5-10 tq down low. Not sure about coyote.
