I'm 49 yrs old and have, for the most part, always owned/worked on a 4x4. I'm from Montana (brutally cold Winters and hot Summers). The Rebel (although overpriced (like all vehicles)) is my favorite. You won't be disappointed. Unlike the Big Horn, the Rebel hugs the corners like a sports car. Driving it is fun. I only wish the oil filter was in a different place. (It can be moved through retrofit). ;) Sometimes I feel like the brakes are being hit electronically at random intervals (even though I shut off auto-backup braking.) Its a 2020 Rebel with 3034 miles (blackout edition). BTW...all refrigeration systems make a funny noise while equalizing.
yes true but these are more pronounced than any other I heard there is a fix for it but its not a big deal, the Rebel is a great truck overall for sure thank you for watching and commenting
I’m with ya on the oil filter location, I have a 16 Rebel, I love everything about the truck except for that oil filter location what a mess to change it, i’ve tried everything from flexible funnels, trying to put a plastic bag around the darn thing, nothing works always a big mess!! They need a filter relocation like Chevy did with there early 90s 4.3L S10s!!
Google panorama roof and sunroof cracking due to tint. Don't know the specifics, but it traps heat and cracks it. I almost got it into my Jeep GC, but found out about it. My tint shop also said that they will not install tint on sunroof due to this.
@@kirktitgen6395 I've had all my sun roofs tinted. I have a 2020 RAM Rebel. NEVER had a problem, seriously, NEVER. But I'm in, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. So that may make a diff. 30'c on a hot summer day. I have a idea for YOU and or anyone else in hotter climates all year around. Put the............TINT..............on the inside. That will for a fact make all the difference and you will not have to worry about cracking. Truthfully its not gonna crack anyways even on the outside buttttt on the inside no worries.
@@kirktitgen6395 i’m not sure what was causing those. I work in the industry of tint. That doesn’t happen. It’s never happened to me, and i’ve never heard of it happening and i’ve worked on hundreds and hundreds of cars.
So much glass, watching you drive is memorizing with the landscape going by. Thanks for the info! Just test drove this truck today. Most luxurious vehicle I've ever been in.
I really like this review. I’m a Jeeper, but I wanna get back in a truck for a daily/toy hauler. Once I get my Wrangler paid off, I think this will be the truck I buy. Great job with the review!
Even though I love the rebel if you don’t mind getting 13mpg and want an offroad truck that looks good no matter where it is (dirt or office meeting parking lot) then I’d get the power wagon all day because with the 4:10 gears you can add 35s and with the 8 speed trans you will average 13mpg or better. If size is an issue due to using parking garages a lot or tight drive thru then yes the 2500 is a challenge. But I love challenges and treat even the drive thru like a narrow trail excursion lol. Great content though cheers!
I got ride of my power wagon because of its size. There was lots and I mean lots that I loved about including the lockers and gearing but it was simply just too big to do anything off road wise. Hear me out. This truck is perfect if you live in a more wide open area. Even then you’re limited by the wheel base. I live in the Tahoe, CA region and you can make take this truck down a good 10% of the trails. It’s just too big. I had to get the truck repainted because of the width and size would just make the truck rock branches and whatever else. Another big issue is the brakes. They’re way too small for this size of a truck. Going down a hill while towing absolutely nothing was pretty sketchy. It was actually the first thing that I replaced.
Nice Videos and Nice Truck!! I just picked up my 2020 limited 2 weeks ago...loving it! Surround camera is a nice feature and yeah I agree the cabin gets mighty hot with the pano roof but honestly the trucks are beautifully designed and equipped. Only mods so far; tint and replaced the bed/cargo light with LED's. Next up will be Borla S-type exhaust with black tips and new cold air intake...time to wake up the Hemi.
I own a 2018 rebel and I absolutely love it. My only complaint is the stock Toyo tires that it came with slip and lose traction pretty easily. One time there was a sharp turn on the freeway and I slowed down to the suggested speed for the turn. In the process of me slowing down my truck lost traction and I ended up drifting around that sharp turn. Scariest moment of my life but I managed to not hit anything (surprisingly)!
I’m picking up my 2020 Big Horn North Edition tomorrow. Got a 2020 on year end clear out. I can’t wait. I do 50/50 highway and city so hopefully my gas mileage isn’t too awful but I didn’t buy it for fuel efficiency. Awesome trucks 👍
Love my 2019 Rebel, I have 125000 kms on it now, mostly ok except the vinyl on the sides of the seats is cheep and cracking and the steering wheel was replaced due to the leather pealing off. My most hated thing, ‘to end your call push the hang up button on the steering wheel’, thank God the truck tells me this every single time I make a call. After only 3 years, I doubt if I could figure out that the bright red button showing a hung up phone would be used to hang up the phone. I would love to throttle the engineer who thought that was necessary.
2020 owner here w/o the sunroof. I can tell ya, I don't get the whistling sound, nor the clanking sound in the front end that I hear about. Also the AC works fine. However after 2500 miles, I am seeing a hairline crack in the rear window, but no leaking.......yet. Overall I love this truck!
Love your videos! I have had the 2019 Ram Rebel now for 15 months (10,100 miles) and have had zero issues with it. I have the Borla S type exhaust installed, a Leer Cap, behind the grille light bar and am still waiting for my Cab Over America cab lights to arrive-- I'm getting around 13mpg in the city and around town (Wash DC Metro area) and around 18 to 19 mpg highway with Mid grade fuel.-- The only "issue" I had was a "squeek" coming from the rear left passenger area for a few months and I could never diagnose where it was coming from...I suspect it was the upper portion of the seatbelt assembly near the roof of the cab.... I gave everything I could see back there a good shot of WD 40 and Its gone now and havent heard it in months. Interestingly, my dealership has made a number of inquiries with me to buy my truck back from me due to high demand and offer an upgrade etc----not a chance! Couldnt be happier! Thanks again for your great videos!
@@JFND2008 Hi- with a 33 gallon tank, I have been getting around 13mpg in the city and 17/18mpg highway....But then again, I have the Borla Attak exhaust system installed...Every time I go under a bridge etc I just have to punch it to hear that roar! hahaha...(and of course when you do that with a 5.7 Hemi---the mileage goes right down to 4mpg- but worth every penny every time!)
Love your videos!! I own a 19 Rebel too! First love the ram boxes like u said to me it’s a must! Two, I don’t have any probs with the water links inside the cabin. Three, yes we all agree about the AC. I don’t have the rooftop mine is a hard top and still feel the heat not has bad as ones with the rooftop. One prob I got is I use to hear a squeak on the left front shock on the driver side.. took it to the dealer and some of other owners reported as well. They told me they need to break in.. now I have 10k miles and so far no more noise! Looking into a lift and a aggressive off road bumper with a light bar.. so much to add still haha
I bought my 2019 Ram Rebel brand new in Winnipeg Canada. It loves the deep cold, and I have a blast with it on the 4x4 trails summer and winter. The only issue I have is it seems to really hate Japanese cars. I have had 3 hit it and all three were write offs only minor damage once to my Rebel. And it emails me from the driveway to tell me how it’s doing. My first car was a ‘77 Pontiac Sunbird, never said a word to me, just sat there leaking and mocking me !!
I have the red Rebel with black trim, I named her The Red Baron after the WW1 ace as she has three kills and his plane was also red & black. A Nissan, Toyota and a Honda, the Japanese tirade. On the plus side the lady in the CRV that rear ended me was smoking hot. It is a beast of a machine in the cold and deep snow. I have seen a lot of reviews and videos on them but not many on the snow. My only regret is not getting the bed boxes on the side. I got her stuck once, I was mudding and she started to sink wouldn’t move. Then I realised I was still in 2wd ... few switch actions and we were in our way again. My goal is White Rim Rd in Moab :)
I have an early 2019 Laramie that I bought in July of 18. By the time my window started leaking I was out of warranty. They dealership wanted over 2k the fix. So I just put some clear Depp on it. No more leak
Nice! I have a 2020 black night edition bighorn. I have been a ford guy my whole life. Not anymore! Love the vids and hope to follow with mods like you are doing. thx
I have 2020 rebel I have been in contact with ram care about multiple issues. The squeak coming from brakes when hitting bumps and now the rear window has the same cracks that you had on your rear window
Ricardo Juarez MTB My truck is listed at 9770 pounds. Since it is fully loaded the towing drops a good amount. Also payload sucks 1350 pounds. But it’s fine since the limited have air bags.
@@Scjon03 ohh that's not bad at all almost 10k wow. But I need a little more my trailer is above 7k dry weight So with full water and toys and gear etc yeah I need a little more.
I really want to pull the trigger on the rebel but per the ram forum a lot of issues with the screen, AC noise or what not, and now replacing windows. I want to spend my time driving this thing not calling dealers!!
That 360 cam has been spotted on 2021 1500 test trucks. Lots of speculation that it will be available on across the board including lower trim levels for the 1500.
Ceramic coating tint all windows This will help keep your ride cool. You probably thinking, its already tinted by the Factory, get 70% tint . Even the front window at 70%. Its clear tinted but with heat Protection You can get it Darker inside if you like. Ceramic coating tint will work
Do a 50% tint on the windshield, & 15% tints on the driver/passenger window to match the factory rear tints...it makes a HUGE difference in heat entering the cabin. Also, the ventilated seats IMO are a huge help considering the AC in these trucks is a bit weaker than other cars I've owned. I agree the Ram boxes are clutch.
Awesome truck!,I am thinking about one of these but the non functional heat extractors on the hood are a deal breaker for me,I think they should have offered a 392 as an option as well.
You can cut little holes in them and make them functional. I know its a piss off, really stupid actually. But you can do it and be the only guy who's done it. Do it man! Make a video about it. I own a 2020 RAM Rebel.
I have a 2019 ram 1500 warlock and the A/C is ice cold because here in Arizona it's so damn hot that the dealership on delivery add a refrigerant upgrade to every vehicle.
Rock chips on the front on color matched vehicles get RockGuard Film installed as soon as you buy the vehicle it works & its really good had it in my 2010 Acura TSX paint looked new when I pealed it off it protects your paint.
I’ve always ran 93 octane in my 5.7 Hemi. I had an 03 ram with the 5.7 Hemi and always ran 93 up until I sold it last year at almost 200k miles, never had a single issue with the motor. I bought a 2019 Laramie sport and I noticed the manual recommends 89 so I tried it for a couple of weeks. I eventually switched back to 93 as I noticed better fuel economy and a very slight throttle responsiveness.
I’m certainly looking at the 2021 Rebel, heard they’re going to have the Night group as an option. I’d honestly like to have a 2500 Limited Night, but I guess it requires you to have the Cummins and I don’t need all that. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of the Cummins, I just don’t tow or haul many heavy things that often. Plus I was taught to never buy something you can work on/ fix, and I don’t know shit about fixing a Diesel engine.
"HammerDown"i agree with you.i bought the "Rebel".cause i live a little further north than you.and the winter here in "UpStateNY"are brutal.with the "RockSalt"and all.last month i got a "CeramicCoat"done just for that reason.even when i had the "Avalanche"before this.i had the "Z71"trim.i just always like those "OffRoad"trim level.whether they be "Chevy or Dodge"😄👍❗
Went back and forth between the Rebel and Laramie, going with the Laramie... curious about the ride quality with the rebel, I drove the Laramie, it's nice
Steve, I’m looking at getting a 2020 Rebel in a couple of weeks, what are your top recommendations for 1st needed mods/upgrades that won’t break the bank?
Honestly if you maintain it properly. anything should last 200k plus unless there are major design flaws, put it this way my Dad did regular maintenance on a 1996 neon and had it for 16 years and sold it running fine with over 200k so the hemi and zf8 speed I don’t see why not, I have seen abused Toyota’s and they didn’t last either
I actually have a different set on from the ones in this video they are in the more recent vids but they are a -12 offset 20 inch wheel that gives you a really nice stance without the spacers I used on the old set that were a positive 18
Hey man. I saw in the background that your pretty local to me. I’m trying to start my own RU-vid channel. I would love to meet up with you and see your truck. I’m currently in the market for a new and bigger truck. Really considering the new Rebel and came across your video. Let me know. Thanks
hey Steve! love the Rebel! I have a 2019 Black Limited and I got the same American Flag in my rear window! My question to you is have you considered the Ram Airflow? What's your thoughts on it? the price is kind of steep for a cold air intake.
I have a 2015 ram big horn. Love it. But I’ve owned an 04 and both had the same issue. I thought because it’s old the 04 had a leak in the back passenger side window. Come to find out it’s the light housing unite on top of the truck. If you place silicone around that light it seals it and you don’t have to worry about it.
Hey Steve. I've done a bunch of mods on my rebel. Looking close to yours. Just gotta get the lift and tires now along with the borla atak. Your truck sounds sick. Where are you located. I'd love to come by the area sometime and see you're shop...im jelous lol. I live in Effort
I am in the Reading area thank you for following the channel always is good to know people enjoy the videos I can't wait to have the shop done maybe we will have a car show or something someday
@@HammerdownMotorsportsUSA awesome. I am recently new and came across it when I starting searching stuff for my new 19 rebel. Love your vids. That would be awesome if you did! Keep hammering down Steve!! My rebel will soon be caught up
Hey HD. Just got my 2020 Rebel and love it. Can you tell me a bit more about the Hemi Tick???? My buddy told me that this was a thing. Is this something to be concerned about? Thanks.
Have a 2019 rebel and the electronic problems are stupid. The sunroof motors fried after 49000 miles and some of the wiring. Have the rambox on my 15 and locks messed up and leaked
Nice video. i own a 2019 rebel in bright white similar to yours but no modes done to it. I REALLY like what you did to your truck and just wanted to ask you about your decals on hood and sides. Are they from the dealer or aftermarket and how much were they if you dont mind my asking. Thanks
TAIMOOR T thanks the decals are from eBay and they ended up being less than half of what Ram charges when you option it with them but then you need to install them which can be a challenge unless you take it somewhere
Thinking abouT selling my 19' SS Camaro. Just turned 5k. All black, blk leather, matte blk wheels and a few mods. Also 6 sod with a pistol grip. Alpine subs and amps etc.. Any recommendations on a site or 2 where I can get top dollar for my vehicles? Much appreciated. Love your vids, very well explained. I want a ram rebel 2019/2020 crew cab with 4x4 with the Panoramic sunroof and storage cubbies on the side of the bed. What do I ask for? To get these things? Is there like a package that gives me all of this?
V I love the truck so far my truck was already configured the way it was optioned when I bought it but if you build one on Rams website you can pick all the stuff
Buy at the END of the year. I just bought a 2020 RAM Rebel at the end of 2020. At the END of the year dealers are trying to liquidate and get rid of old stock to make space for their new stock so they reduce prices. At the start of 2020 my Rebel was priced @ $80 000. At the end of 2020 $59 000 before tax, after tax and all in $67 000. So I saved about $20 000. If you're even smarter than that you'll go to the dealer auction where the dealers pick up @ wholesale prices before they jackkkkkkkkk the prices up sky high. Google it, ''Dealer auctions,'' or ask a actual car dealer. Otherwise almost every Jeep, Dodge RAM dealership has a Rebel with the RAM BOXES and Pano sunroofs. Go take a walk on the lot, you'll see one if not just check Car Guru's or Auto trader before hand. That's what I did. I drove 500km's to get mine with everything I wanted @ the price I wanted. Looking forward to hearing if you get one.
@@kkff1388 thank you so much for the detail response. I was able to get a new 2021 F150 with the powerboost instead. Crew cab, 4x4 pano roof, lariat 55k out the door
New to the channel. Ready to trade in my Rubicon for a ram. I am torn between the rebel and the laramie. I only go off road a couple of times a year. Mostly highway driving. I do a lot of camping. Most of the camping is in areas that a subaru could get to. Here are my questions. Can you put a camp topper over the ram box and still use it? I am going to buy a crew cab with 6ft bed and the rear seats must be heated for the kids. Do they make the laramie cab with the rebel exterior? Any advice would be helpful? I want to buy right the 1st time.
I’m not sure what is available as far as a camper top with ram boxes but the ram box is awesome for storage, you can get a Laramie with the off-road package which gives you a Rebel type suspension better tires skid plates etc with all the luxury of a Laramie you just don’t get the Rebel grill bumpers and red interior accents might be a good choice for you then you get rear heated seats, good luck
Hey Steve whats the offset now with the spacers you put on? I like the way the wheels have abit of poke but not too much. Trying to figure out how to get the same look with wheel and tire set up.
Yo bud does your truck squeak like crazy in reverse when it rains out. My 2019 rebel started doing in at about 5k miles i just never took it in to be looked at yet. That and the AC sucking are my only problems. Truck has 32k on it now
Not that you're still curious 2 months later lol But I think It's typical for ram trucks. We have 3 Rams. 2019 Big horn sport night edition. 2020 Ram Laramie sport. 2021 Rebel night edition. All 3 trucks around 2k-5k miles, started that exact squealing with reverse when it's wet out. My Rebel just rolled 2k and it's starting to do it. also serviced for steering column bearing squeak and brake master cylinder squeak. Rather frustrated with these trucks honestly. If we didn't buy the Laramie and the Rebel the same day, I probably would've steered away from Ram. At least these models anyways.
@@HammerdownMotorsportsUSA power train good for 60k think I got suckered. Good thing I can cancel it. Light off roading a few times a year maybe pull a trailer once in a blue moon. I’m a taco guy but couldn’t pass up on a opportunity to own a beautiful truck and the interior 👌🏼
I honestly love my 2019 (5.7). I've done my usual set of upgrades (CAI, Exhaust, Wheels, Bed Cover, Pedal Commander) but wish it had the 360 camera AAAAAND memory seats. Sheesh what does it cost to put in memory seats?! My family drives it on occasion and it would be nice to have my settings all saved so I could just push a button and it all revert to me as the main driver. LOL.
Like the content 👌. So I have a question maybe someone else is having the same issue I am having with my ram..when I change the display theme on the radio screen it stays but when on the cluster it changes by itself to default theme ? Help lol
