Thanks for the Shout-Out John. Great Video and Build. Keep up the Great work brother. Editing and everything is on point. It's hard to keep a shop video entertaining. You do a good job inserting comments about the details and difficulties on the build which is interesting. I know the electrical was a bitch for Jamie too. It's hard to make it clean! That's what separates the real techs from the DIY guys.

About to have my Dealer do these for me on my 2020 Road Glide Special I bought three days ago... service manager told that none of his techs have done them... so, bit worried about that. But this video and Matt's. Are the whole reason I started even looking at a Road Glide... and its the only setup in which I like T-Bars... 👍

Love your channel Matt, but your negative comment on us DIY guys is bullshit on your part Man. A lot of us can not afford your $ 195-hour shop labor and most of us DIY guys will put any HD tech in their place.

Thanks for another great video. Being a "new" Harley owner - 2004 Road King Custom - this type of "no BS" technical information on the old and new bikes is critical to do the various repairs and upgrades correctly. Working as an automotive dealership technician for over 30 years, I have learned that we all can pick up new ways of repair and installs from others. Doing a lot of electrical work and harness repair, I have found that a seam ripper (used in sewing, less than $5) works well for opening up factory conduit and "taped over" previous repair areas. Cuts though Super 33 quickly and won't damage the wires like a razor blade can. Sorry if this is old news, just though I would mention it - keep up the good work!

I need to look into those, my tiny scissors are a bit tired. They’re cheap and don’t cut so good anymore.

I like the aggressive position, but not the expense of this kit. I went with FXR Division Motorwitch bars, they give a similar feel and are simple to install. I also didn't want to lose the ignition switch or other pieces on my CVO. Great video!

Thanks John for the great content that you put out! Your channel along with Matt Laidlaw’s channel has filled my garage with my first Harley Davidson, a 2019 Street Glide FLHX! I honestly feel that due to your “dirty thumb” approach to the brand and the in depth information that Matt Laidlaw gives on the new models has given me the tools to know what I wanted for my first Harley Davidson! The FLHX was by no means my first motorcycle but I just grew up with the “HD will leave you stranded” mentality for most of my time as a rider. I am saddened that it took until my 52nd birthday to wake up to the music that HD’s make! Keep up the great work and and thank you for the content you provide!

I always hated T-bars, then I bought a 2019 Street Bob that had them pre installed. It was the only one available and I’m impatient. I was supposed to bring it in to have the stock setup put back on, but damn I fell in love with those bars and kept them. They are so comfortable and handle so much better. It was like being a friend’s wingman and taking out the ugly friend, only to fall in love because she rides better then anyone you’ve ever thrown a leg over. .

I’m watching some of your videos just wishing I could ride but we just got 8 inches of snow and it’s 28 degrees outside. I just bought my bike a month ago and rode it twice with the couple of nice days we had. I decided on a Harley from your videos and I love it so thank you! I’ve seen videos and I don’t care what others think because I’m happy with my bike even if it is the most popular sold bike. I will make it mine. Just hope our mechanic cares as much as you do. Thanks again for the great video!

Main things needed when changing handlebars, cover or remove gas tank, LOTS of patience oh and coffee of course. On my old Japanese bikes it was a breeze to change them now days with the electronics not so much. That Kraus Setup does look nicer than stock.

Great video. I added a Big Bear choppers gauge relocation kit. It was a bit difficult to deal with the crappy fiberglass work but I managed and had it all painted to match. Used a West Coast T-bar SlingShots, they are 28" wide, narrower than the FM bars but they are tight and narrow giving it more of a nimble ride feeling. Best part is there is Zero obstruction from the radio and it has a cover to cover all of the MIsc wires.
@ridethepace6005
@ridethepace6005 3 года назад
I am putting the FXR Division Motorwitch bars on mine. Same t-bar look and stance, including the narrowness ( 30.5 in. ) However you do not need to eliminate your fork lock, or relocate the gauges, lengthen cables or anything. You get unobstructed view of gauges and Info area. It's the shiz. Way simpler, great looking. You should check them out.

One thing that I do like about Harleys is that there is a ton of stuff to make then different and your own style. Now the gauges being up where they are now makes it easier to see..... buuut me personally wouldn't run them just due to the fact that the steering lock is now gone.

@@TheHarleyTech It's a word I can understand. Customization is like spraying a can of Raid on some really bad ass bait for other roaches to admire, but can't they can't claim it as theirs (meaning, they didn't think of that look first), and then hate the one roach that rides away on it. Sorry John, don’t care for the bars. I have a 2016 Road glide and I love the bars and the position. Been riding them since 06 and like the stock bars. Now my son owns the 06 and I put on Carlini apes and they were a pain but turned out ok for him. Moving the cluster and eliminating the ignition and locking system is nuts and leaves a big hole. But a lot of people will like that kind of thing. Doing high rise bars rates right up there with heated grips and hidden wires. Dennis

Looks sweet. Needs a fix for the ignition/fork lock and the open space where the stock gauges were removed. The hidden antenna is nice too.

I’m surprised how many people don’t like the fork lock being gone. I have 3 motorcycles that I have never even used it on. Matter of fact, one of them requires a pad lock to even exist. It’s just a hole on the frame and a hole on the bottom triple you run a lock through.

@@TheHarleyTech I use mine when I leave it parked and have to drive truck to work on a predictable schedule and the bike is in carport...my neighbors regularly have folks staying there just out of jail or about to get caught again. Live 45 miles from Mexico too. I understand that they are pretty easy to break though. The Padlock fork lock is legit!

I have bung king t-bars on my 2018 road glide special. Custom bar bends from them too. Speedo on the infotainment screen. Wish I could see the tach there too. Love my setup.

John, That Road Glide looks great all blacked out. That you for the explanation of how you did it. I like the cables are rerouted inside the bars. FYI, This video never showed up in my RU-vid Notifications of Uploads. Yes I hit The Bell 🔔

I’m at an age where I don’t care what things look like as long as it’s comfortable.

That’s why I have two. A ridiculously powered uncomfortable softail that looks badass. And a basically stock road king.

Schnot I’m a Road King rider myself. Also stock but I’m going to try a tall boy seat and I might switch to that. I’m a big guy and just wish I had another inch or so of seat space.

Nice job, thanks for posting. RG looks great with those bars. I sat on a stock RG and did not like the feel of the stock bars. That would be the first thing to change.

Nice install, and though they’d not be my kind of bars, they nonetheless look good. Next vid, pipes on that baby; sounds like my grandma’s sewing machine. Thanks John!

Well John, It looks like the triangle feels pretty good. My '16 Road King feels a bit , maybe "awkward" with the sort of mini apes that are OEM, and you got me wondering about some flatter bars. I wonder if the reach might prove radically uncomfortable, or if not so, would I enjoy a better sense of handling feel(?). Unlike most, I reckon, I buy a bike based on a lot of stock characteristics,. Because I'm very visual (a photographer), If I think the bike "looks" right, I'll consider that one very important consideration. Because I won't buy something that isn't aesthetically pleasing, I tend to buy what looks right from the git-go, hence do not usually make a lot of "make it my own" custom changes.I'm not above adding a docking kit for short sissy or luggage rack, but major changes don't feature on my radar. As always, it's good to see your process and hear your entertaining commentary. Thank-You, Mike
