I was able to get my Honda Express to go 50mph back in the 70s. The main thing is the air in air out. It was a 49cc two stroke. I used trick fuel 110 octane and added more oil to the fuel. I learned how to rebuild those engines fast! Man it was fun🤪🤪🤪
I just ordered the RPS Hawk 2 DLX, EFI last night. Now comes the wait for it to get here. Hope it was not a bad idea. But from watching the videos I've heard good things. Thanks for the ideas.
@@Meatnewdadbod YES!!! A lot better than I thought it would be for the money. And the headlight had a broken pin and the cover over the battery had one of the pins broken. But they sent me both new parts no questions asked. Just fill out the paperwork. I got the gray on black, and I like it. Already took it out, but it has been cold here so not as much as I would like. But I'm tagged and ready to go. As soon as you get it, put in for the paperwork. It takes about 10 days to get the mail. And it is really easy to put together. Yes, it was a good buy. I do wish it had a 6th gear. Enjoy your rid.
Hey thanks for the reply man!!! Thats great how many miles are you pushing on it now? Im basically using mine as a little commuter/fun bike to keep a few miles of my daily car going back and fourth to work! I definitely will get started on the paperwork asap.
@@Meatnewdadbod 36 miles. I still have not really taken it out far, do not have my M class yet and not wanting to get pulled over. I took it out for a run around the neighborhood and around the property. Will go in two weeks to get legal. Never rode legal. Kinda want to do it right this time. But it did real nice on the road. And rides good off road too. Easy to handle. One thing, it is a pretty high bike. I'm 5' 11" but my feet are not flat on the ground. I will try and adjust the hight, but not sure if I will get much more out of it. Any lower that is. What state are you in or around??? I've only seen one other of these bikes around my area. Annapolis MD area.
I have the same hawk 250 myself and i wrote it yesterday and i topped out at 68 miles per hour on it i put a 17 sprocket and 45 sprocket and a mikuni carburetor with a 110 jet in it and its pretty fast now i still need to do the exhaust on it still thanks for show the video on the exhaust on how to do it good job on your hawk very nice.
When you do this mod, does it affect your ability to climb hills in 1st and 2nd? Or are those gears low enough that you don't notice it? Just wondering if it makes it less fun on trails....
@@piquat1 would be a lot less torque when it is geared that high. If you are sticking more to trails and not planning to drive on roads with 60 mph speed limits I wouldn’t do it
I’m finding that the longer 1st gear due to the sprocket changes, a lot of the time will carry up hills just fine. I’ve got mine geared for the highway but still using it on trails mostly.
An head light bulb I got for mine. Way overly impressive. Just an FYI. From Amazon. LED. 9000 Lumens. AUXITO H4 9003 LED. $39.99 . Comes in two of them. Easy backup. Thanks for the tips and help. Take care.
I think you should add a skid plate Under The motor That will top the icing on the cake for you Other thanOther than that your bike looks great man I have my brand new 2020 hawk 250 getting delivered to me this Monday All black I can't wait A few months ago my other hawk I had that stolenA few months ago my other hawk I had got stolen it was2018So I ordered a new 1 These bikes are the best
You should find some hand guards for it and make an install video. We are in need of some decent hand guards for this thing, or at least I can't find any that I trust.
Some points to note. The Shinko 700 4.6x18 rear is a smaller diameter than the 110/100-18 that comes on the bike so it will alter the final drive gearing by about 2 teeth (a 45 is now like a 47 would have been, etc). The front diameter is almost exactly the same, and so close it shouldn't effect your speedo readout. Did you purchase the digital dash from Matt (linked through Hawk 250 web page) or from ebay? Matt's cluster IS dead on accurate because he has them specifically calibrated to be that way. Any other dash, even if it looks the same, will not be and will read high. I have Matt's cluster with the Shinko 700 tire and it reads 61mph with my actual GPS speed reading 60. - Your friendly neighborhood stupidly modified Hawk guy (aka Megadan on Chinariders.) P.S. Good videos btw.
I have the digital cluster from Amazon. It is dead on accurate to the MPH. But to get it accurate I had to set it for a 19" wheel, even though I have the 21" wheel. I guess this is a standard thing....
@@JackofAllMasterofNone hey man what state u in im looking at one but i live in ny state need it on the road looking into registration also what shape was it in when u got it any damage from shipping?
have you thought about adding an oil cooler to it? I've seen other RU-vid videos of people modifying their hawk and adding an oil cooler.. one of the videos that I regularly watch is Moto cheese and a few others. I think on one of them the guy had upgraded the headlight to an angel wings headlight and it was round course I think he bought the parts off of Amazon and other sites ended up costing a few hundred bucks for the modification.. also in a video I watched recently the guy I had bought an aftermarket seat where the seat did not have the hump in it like the original Hawks heat it was more flush so I decided to do mine myself because he's been like quite a bit on buying that seat, so I just had an upholstery shop fix mine and it came out really nice! maybe I can post a video of it
Did you not take the baffles out of the exhaust? I'm waiting on my Hawk to be delivered and I'm planning on taking them out. I have owned and ridden many bikes, and I have taken the baffles out of the exhaust on a couple Honda's and it boosted the horses a bit.
IT'S A GOOD BIKE AFTER THE MODS,, However IT'S STILL A ""LEAD"" ""SLED"" COMPARED TO MY ORIGINAL STOCK 1979 XR 185 comes stock with 19 horsepower 6 speed top speed 70mph
Do you know where I can find the exact engine because mine gear shifter shaft don’t work? Idk if I should buy new engine or fix the gear shifter? What would be better?
I can do 55mph all day which is good since thats the speed limit on most rural roads around here. Max speed is around 65mph. I havent really been cranking on it too hard though since its still under 500 miles. When going up hills it can drop down to 45mph ish and doesnt have enough power to maintain the 55mph speed on long grades.
@@JackofAllMasterofNone You removed the front one, Im not 100% sure, but I think there is one more between the one you removed and the muffler (where the pipe is a bit bigger in diameter)
Hey man i just got my hawk running great except i have a nasty rattle up by my headlight assembly i probaly did something wrong there idk if u have that too but i wanted to ask if your hawk will go into neatral from a stop in first gear. Becausr mone shifts fine when im riding but at a stop i cant move it up into neatral is that the same for you?
sometimes u have to just roll it and while u roll it put it into neutral. its just how bikes are. manual cara are the same way. welcome to manual transmissions😂
@@tonytone_tone2657 nope turned out to be my clutch cable bolts were falling off. Looks like the people at the factory didnt tighten them. I thifhten them and its workes great. It was confusing tho because it was working sometimes and not grabinf other and this is when i had like 20 miles on it and people are telling me thats nornal for a new clutch.
@Jonathan Pettey NGK(DPR8EIX-9 #2202 and NGK DR8EIX #6681 are the two most popular people use in the Hawk. And the silver cap of the plug unscrews in order to work on the Hawk.
I'm not jimmy... but I put a 15 tooth sprocket on the the front jetted the aftermarket carb to 115, 45tooth sprocket on the rear, I weigh about 300 and my hawk gets up to 70mph a little shaky bc i still have the knobbies on it but, its interstate worthy
that seat cover is trash i returned mine came with cosmetic damage, didn’t fit right, and when i went to adjust one of the straps the stitching just pulled right out
