2019 Sea-Doo Fish Pro 155 Review - Is it Better Than a Fishing Boat?

Unbelievable how sturdy they are, love being able to sit sideways and fish.

I use to have a small boat but I've been jetski fishing now for a few years (over 500 hrs now). It's really great to see a company is building something for this specific market. Why would you buy this over a boat? Plenty of reasons: less cash for a completely offshore-capable fishing unit (you'd have to spend $40K plus to match the offshore range and weather/seas capability of a good jetski in any boat) ; good fuel economy and range; easy storage; I cross coastal bars with a minimum of fuss in all types of weather and swell; I can travel at high speeds to get where I want to be; I can launch it at ramps or beach very easily by myself; and I love going out by myself; It's also a challenge to me and keeps life interesting! There are positives and negatives for all types of craft, but don't knock it until you've tried it!

You failed to mention the larger fuel tank compared to all other sea-doos

I would believe it more if it was actually you standing on one side of the ski and not some guy that weighs 160 pounds

I'm 6.3 and 110kg I've had a fish pro for 6 months now will support me standing on side but feet cant fit straight (90°)on in gunnels this is very stable ski and have fished with my two kids on board , this ski gets me over shallow sand bars when boats are waiting for a higher tide best decision over a boat in my area, good review + fuel economy is a big plus over a boat too cheers

If you use this unit year round it is worth the money. We use it to pull a wakeboard & tube on the Columbia River in Washington. We are currently using it for salmon fishing in Drano Lake and Priest Rapids on the Columbia River and it haven’t let me down. Two people fit great. We just slid the cooler to the rear of the jet ski so we can stand and stretch once and a while and we switch back and forth to get a break from stearin. My son is 5’9” 160lbs I’m 5’7” 220lbs and we have never felt that the jet ski would flip in anyway. We use the fish finder mostly for depth. But it does work. I have never used a fish finder before so I’m still learning how all this works. My son and I are bank fishermen but now we are trying something new. Had to buy all new fishing gear for this! We definitely have spent more time together now that we have the fishpro! My daughter is next to learn how to fish.

Got 2020 model with two kids fishing from it and no issues what so ever. I understand what you say about it being solo, but we made it work. What totally shocked me was how easy it was to launch solo and the extra deck cannot be underestimated. Removed all the accessories and has a diving/towing platform, that alone sold me. No regrets. 170hp is plenty love it. The only surprise was length with trailer. It was 22” longer than I anticipated and made garage parking someone tricky. 182kms on one tank. WOW

This is the first watercraft ever to Peak my attention im not a water guy and boats are stupid expensive but that would/could be more of the recipe im looking for

I fish off my 155 all the time there is a surprising amount of trunk space in the front compartment for coolers, tackle box, a couple of bags and snacks.

I fish with my buddy and myself which is about 390 lbs total and we do fine, we've been 15 miles offshore already.

You can get a 16ft tin boat with trailer, outboard, trolling motor, fish finder, live well, etc. for the price of that SeaDoo. And you could get into some pretty skinny water, and bring along a buddy.

Wonder how long before someone fishes this in a National Bass tournament? Would like to see Bill Dance use one.😊

The real question here is:How long can it last?Ppl said 300 hrs,I think 150 hrs per year is a must.So it needs 1000-1500 hrs lifetime for a purchase consideration.

i did this exactly with my VX cruiser 3 seater. without a trolling motor, it’s not the same. did it work sure but by no means would i drop 20k when you can get a basic boat for 16k

question about that rolling mode- whats the minimum depth it can work?

I think the next big upgrade for this machine would be to add a couple inches in width or possibly a system similar to fishing kayak which extend out for even more stability and se about rework that front compartment to be used as a live well

My uncle used to have a cabin on a lake, and people would use their boats to go shopping at the general store/fuel station. I've always wondered if a PWC could be fitted with luggage racks like an ATV... Seems like this would fit the bill for quick runs to the store as well. Can you take off the cooler and have a big, flat rack on the back? :)

Add a live-well on the back that snaps on and now we can fish in tournaments.

He mist a MAJOR feature of the sea-doo fish pro, thats little glove dept is not the only carrying area, That whole front upper section lifts up to reveal a HUGE storage area. Basically what looks like the gas tank area on motorcycle is its LARGE storage department

I’m surprised they don’t lose the extra seat and put the cooler there and make the back a casting platform with a leaning rest. That might be interesting. I could not sit down and fish well.

We have a few sandbar crossings on the Gold Coast where it would be alot easier to cross on a jet ski rather than a boat. This would serve me well.

I don't think Yamaha will be able to come up with a competition model. I have a feeling they won't reach out to the fishing community for advice for new features.

There's a cooler for drinks...so where's the storage area for catches?

I know it would look lame, but it would be nice to have an optional seat replacement that has a full back and rotates.

For what they are charging, I wouldn’t mind having the power of the 300 in this unit. If it did, what a machine it would be. If they somehow decide on doing so, I’ll pick up two of them!

This thing wins the gimmick award of the year. It's like saying - you need to buy this fridge because it dispenses water and ice *AT THE SAME TIME* (WOW!!!!). What's even cooler is you get to look at yourself with the cool mirror that's attached onto the fridge door..... Yeah at a $15k price point, get yourself a boat.

just a few fishing things tacked onto a regular pwc. not that people werent already making these mods because of the access you get and their trailerablity. it's a good idea for sure but it feels like it could be done a lot better as a ground up design.

So.....is it better than a boat???? NO it is not! But it is cheaper and a better alternative to kayak fishing! I can't imagine going a mile down the inlet and another 3 miles offshore fighting current and wind! I really thought about buying a Kayak at first! THK GOD I didn't!!! And I enjoy every minute on my Yamaha ;P
