In this video I install the SV Racing Parts foot peg lowering plates on my new Suzuki V-Strom 650XT. Get your parts here..... www.amazon.com/SV-Racing-Part...
Great video Jon, they always are! We'll try out standing on our V-Stroms along the Tellico and North Rivers in the Cherokee National Forest. Beautiful country, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Less than two months away!
Just found your channel and subscribed. Excellent video. I put the SV Racing brackets on about a year ago. They make a difference. I also put on bar risers I think about 25mm up and 20 mm back. I am 5 foot 11 inches tall and I stand up a lot when I ride and it definitely makes it a better experience for me. I have just turned 79 in March and my legs get tired sitting down on a 300km ride. I just watched you grease the head stock bearings great job. I have done 50,000 km on my 650 XT since new April 2018 and the steering still feels very smooth to me. I don’t ride on dirt roads very often though. It’s something I will have a closer look at. Greetings from Brisbane Australia
Greetings from Ireland,I am just after finding your channel.I bought my new Vstrom 650 XT 6 months ago,I traded my 2008 Strom 650DL.It was my 65th birthday present to myself,it is the 25th bike i have owned since I bought my first in 1972.I have fitted the same peg lowering kit to my new bike and a rad gaurd plus bar risers. Here in Ireland we don,t do much trail riding.I am heading to Spain in 3 weeks for a month of touring.Getting my Strom serviced and checked over next week for the long trip..PS I also fitted a Scottoiler X system,I had one on my last bike and found it worked brilliantly..Looking forward to watching more of your videos..
Greetings from Co. Kerry Pat... ; - )) ... I'm just 2 years, and 10k miles, back in the saddle of a wee, after a 35 year break. Can I ask where you got the peg kit? Have a great/safe time in Espania! .. from another Pat !
12:02 That's what she said, lol. Sorry I had to be that guy.. I have been do some research on these bikes the last couple of weeks. The more I do the more interested in them I become. Thank you for making this how to video.
I’m loving your vids. You’re making it so easy for me. My footpeg lowering plates shipped today, along with a set of foot controls relocating plates to move the controls forward quite a bit. By next week my legs won’t cramping up, and I’ll be able get my cursed size 15s in there with actual riding boots on. I can’t even get a hiking boot under there right now, so I’ve got a little piece of wood screwed into the front of the toe to upshift. Will I ever be happy to be rid of that.
Great videos! Very helpful. I am stuck on the shifter side. My extender needs to go on the shifter. But the nuts won’t come off. They are quite delicate and I can’t use force. Have tried WD40 and some heat. No use!
Thank you for your video. I just bought today a new 1050 I definitely need to lower the pegs. As always your review and "how-to" are remarkably clear and easy to understand. Thank you again. Secondly, may I ask what the skid plate is you have on your VStrom. I really like the looks of it. My riding is probably 97% tarmac, 2% gravel and the rest very minor off-road. Thank you again for all your videos and for sharing your knowlede.
Good to hear from you sir, congrats on the new ride. That new V-Strom 1050 looks like a really sweet bike for sure... Thanks for watching and keep safe out there... :)
@@lyrics36 Yes sir, that is a Ravetech plate on the V-Strom... you can check it out here... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c5dRVT9mp_s.html Thanks sir... :)
hello there sir, good to hear from you... I am not sure about a revers gear pattern for the V-Strom... you might try googling it and see what you can find out... sorry I couldn't be any help... thanks for watching... keep safe out there... :)
Hi John, I'm Guillermo from Argentina again. The video of him as usual is excellent. I ask you, the set of electrical cables of the brake light, does it have to be modified? Is it tight with the modification? Thank you very much.
Hello there sir, good to hear from you. There were no modifications needed to any wiring to lower the foot pegs on the V-Strom. The wiring to the brake light switch was plenty long enough for the relocation.... Hope this helps... thanks for watching.... keep safe out there... :)
Good to hear from you sir, no peg scraping... I also raised the suspension on the bike 1 inch so the pegs really were the same height above the ground... thanks for watching... :)
Hey there Chris, I am 6.0 ft with a 33 inch inseam. I have raised the front of the seat 3/4 inch and have droped the pegs 3/4 inch and I find the bike to be very spacious now. I would think someone with 34 inch inseam would still be quit comfortable as well. Thanks for watching... hope this helps... keep safe out there... :)
Good to hear from you sir. The nuts on both ends of the shifter shaft have to be locked down tight... the shaft has revers threads on one end and normal right hand threads on the other.. thanks for watching and good luck with all you projects... :)
I just WISH they were still available! When I contacted SV Racing Parts they said and I quote, "The ones on Amazon are cheap Chinese knockoffs of my Made in the USA parts... We do not support them..."
Hello there sir, good to hear from you. I am sorry to hear that SV is not selling the lowering plates for the V-Strom any more. The lowering plates are just that, a steel plate with some holes drilled in it. I would not be too concerned about a Chinese knock off being poor quality simply because it is just a piece of plate steel with some holes drilled in it. Good luck with your projects, thanks for watching... keep safe out there... :)
Hey there sir... you can check out that install here... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c5dRVT9mp_s.html Thanks for watching and good luck with all your projects... :)
@@ozarksbackroads5484 thanks. I have seen that video but missed the cowl that was removed. My Strom is a bit older and didn’t come with that cowl. Think I’ll just seek out one of the Ravetech units. Great videos, too, from another Arkansan!
