The one real advantage that these cars have over similar size hatchbacks is that they are easier to get in and out of. If you are young, it hardly matters but it does as you get older.
@LyCaraa

David Hayes Agreed. I personally have some back issues due to injuries that make getting in to smaller cars uncomfortable/ painful. I am in my mid twenties and bought myself the old Toyota RAV4 with 3 doors (what I can afford at the moment) but looking at this T-Cross I’m tempted to work towards buying this or the T-roc one day. What also matters though would be comfort on long distance drives (I assume it would be the same for the older generation) as the back will get very painful.

@@LyCaraa I feel you, I too suffer from a backinjury that will only get worse as I get older. That's the main reason I'm looking to buy this car, the hight and the seats with lumbarsupport are really what I'm lookin for.

I’m not very old but I’m thinking of getting one just because getting in and out of such cars is much easier and normal compared to ordinary cars which always seem to low.

Thanks for this review. Saw one today and liked the look of it, just starting to research it a bit and your comments are helpful. I might be a 'supermarket to garden centre' driver, I must admit, though I expect to be doing more motorway driving in future.

Why is the video mirrored when using the internal camera? From the outside it looks like a normal model, but from the inside it looks like a UK model. It’s very confusing.

Great review but I do take issue with you saying that the T-Cross was good for going from the supermarket to the garden centre. I would not go to the supermarket before going to the garden centre because my tubs of ice-cream would melt. I'd probably go to the garden centre first, get my seedlings and mulch and possibly some daffoil bulbs (if available) then swing by Aldi on the way home.

These mini suv's should be tested against their normal hatchback siblings.....I'll bet the hatchbacks are better.

Until you have to put a kiddie seat, followed by a lump of kiddie, in the back. Then you can see why these are becoming popular.

Hatchback s and estates are better on virtually anyway that matters. However, if the consumers ask for pseudo-SUVs that's what they'll get.

I actually think it’s not a UK car. I think they’ve mirrored the image. When he turned the volume up the switch was on the right side. It’s always on the left!!

Definitely not the UK in the background. Autobears is correct in saying the image has been reversed for some reason. Look at the beats logo on the speaker grill in the pillar... Its backwards

Been driving SUV'S for ten years now would never go back to sitting with my arse ten inches off the ground far more comfort on longer journeys as for the car looks very nice but I'd wait for the skoda kamig to come out .
@torod213
@torod213 5 лет назад
But... What do you mean exactly? You say you've been driving SUV's and only want to drive SUV's, and then you say you want a Skoda hatchback? The Kamiq (and this T-cross) are about as much SUV as a Mercedes B-class. The Chevrolet Suburban is an SUV, what do you suppose the Kamiq has that puts it in the same class as that or a Mercedes G-wagon? Please do explain. If a Kamiq is enough SUV for you, may I suggest the Ford Focus Active. It is miles more comfortable and composed to drive than anything that pretends to be an SUV, certainly than the Skoda Kamiq.
@keithisaacs6092

@@torod213 skoda kamig and VW t cross are both classed as small SUVs by the motoring industry so please get your facts right just check the reviews or Google it thank you.
@torod213
@torod213 5 лет назад
@@keithisaacs6092 No you know what, that is in fact all bullshit. An SUV, according to the dictionary definition, is "a car similar to a station wagon, but built on a light-truck chassis". These cars are nothing like a station wagon and last I checked, the VW Polo was not classed as a "light truck". Obviously the manufacturers want these cars classed as "SUV's" because of marketing, but that is ALL IT IS. MARKETING. If you actually believe it you have to be properly thick. Or do you also believe Peugeot when they tell you their cars offer "the drive of your life"? Not a Ferrari then, but Peugeot can in fact offer "the drive of your life". But by all means, if you want to drive around in a tiny little hatchback and believe you're driving an SUV, go right ahead. Just don't spread that rubbish on to others.

I would be worried about the DSG version given the problems that people I know have had with that gearbox. They should switch to ZF torque converter, which gives very little away to DSG in terms of shift speed. The humble torque converter has come along way in the last few years. It is also less likely to break and its also less expensive to develop.
@nonenone3898
@nonenone3898 5 лет назад
I have driven the DSG in the new polo for the past year....no issues on the 12000 miles I have done so far. the only issue I have with it is the stop/start combined with the DSG just seems a little intrusive. its too keen to stop the engine even before the car has stopped and its too slow to restart when pulling into a gap in traffic...almost dangerous. Still I can switch that off before I set off on my drive...but the DSG on its own...I have had no problems. In fact quite a lot of people are moaning about the manual gear spacings you don't get any of that with the DSG. Also with the DSG and radar cruise control you get a car that will do the same speed as the traffic in front even if that traffic stops then sets off again, great around town I don't have to tough the foot controls at all.

Since VW is the 7th largest company on the planet and you are sitting behind your keyboard on RU-vid, I'd argue they know better than you what is best for them. Personally, I happen to love the styling on a lot of their cars. The Polo, Golf, Passat and Touareg all look hugely elegant in their own understated way, but I will agree that this T-Cross is not their finest work. It all has to do with proportion. TFor some unfathomable reason people seem to want these wannabe-crossover things, so VW is forced to take an attractive car (Polo) and strech it out height-wise to absolutely ruin it's proportions.

@@evilmario6061 Uh, I was referring to passenger cars.. I have a truck license, but not a semi license. Most people don't, in fact. Also, the Tesla could do the load but not the time and distance. The Tesla semi will work great for short distance logistics, or along major routes where there is charging infrastructure. In the north of Norway where there are 300.000 people living in a region it takes 24 hours to drive across, there won't be much infrastructure for a while.
