It’s not a problem. Don’t slip the clutch too much and you’ll be good.

What did you pay for your kit?

I absolutely appreciate your support! My machine is fairly stock and could use some more power. Not sure if I would go turbo but exhaust, flash, cams and spacer are probably in the future. I love my friends X3, it feels like a Cadillac. Was contemplating a switch but the solid feel of shifting on the Yami is too awesome to give up.

@@restoroosterohv I would stick with the yamaha it doesn't have a belt I've had all of them yamaha is way more reliable!

Trick is to get it to lock up as soon as possible. Try to limit slipping the clutch. The oil mod will help. Thank you for your feedback and support.

I appreciate the feedback and the support. It’s not difficult, just pay attention to how it comes apart. Make sure you do the oil mod!

Shell T4 is like Franks Hot Sauce, I put that sh*t in everything! All kidding aside, you can absolutely use Yamaha “approved” oils for the engine and transmission. I like the heavy duty diesel oil because is is cheap for one and second it has great anti-wear properties.

Some put more than that. The more oil you can get to the friction discs the better. Some are better than none I guess.

You are right, the more oil the better. I guess I would be worried about the structural stability if too much material is removed.

@@restoroosterohv Ok I get the holes for the extra oil but is it just for longer clutch disk life or does the extra lubrication help the disk grab harder?? better performance Thank you . 2017 ss

@@Believer21777 it is all about keeping the clutch cooler which translates to longer life.

I got it from Partzilla but you can order it from any of the parts suppliers, including the dealer. Yamaha P/N is B57-W001G-00-00. Where do you ride?

The clutches were burned from the previous owner incorrectly slipping the clutch. I changed it as soon as I got the machine. Almost a year after my replacement no problems. I also use the Rotella T4 in all of my 450s with nary an issue, ever. Amsoil is great oil as well but expensive. Thanks for your comment.

@@restoroosterohv Ams oil took that whining trans noise to a manageable level.

@@jagwije1 I don’t mind the whining sound, sounds racy. We are required to wear helmets where we ride, so it doesn’t bother me that much.

Yamaha tends to recommend the Yamalube for the engine and transmission. I like the Rotella oils because they are considerably cheaper with the same or BETTER anti-wear additives and detergent dispersants. You can use Rotella T6 in the engine, that is a 15w-40 Diesel full synthetic. You should never use full synthetic oils in anything with a wet clutch unless it is specifically designed for it. It could cause premature clutch failure. I use the T4 in all of my 4 stroke MX bikes as well and change the oil every 16 hours or so with nery a problem. I have just about 1000 miles on the YXZ.

This is common, I know a lot of people that use rotella and have 1000’s of mike on them it’s good oil seems weird but it is good.

Did you get the factory clutch kit?

I’ve heard of people having issues installing this with other kits. One guy told me he took it apart a bunch of times, and it all looked right but it turns out it was a miss labeled kit.

Yes. I did the same. At first they sent me a three peddle kit. I called they then sent me two fibers a steel and conical spring. Ns y exactly but they looked the same but im sure millimeters matter.

@@m561gamagoat2 before you go crazy with diag, I would be 100% sure that you have the correct parts. Why were you replacing it to begin with?

Sorry, this comment seemed to have slipped through the cracks. The holes will allow more oil to the clutch disc pack essentially keeping it cooler which would result in better performance

Not clocking the last plate won’t make much difference. What is it doing when you step on the accelerator?

@@MrPetRooster engine revs, acting just like it did when the clutch went out. I can feel it shift into 1st and reverse, just won't move.

@@jasonboorech1649 I would pull the outer cover back off and make sure that the pressure plate is installed correctly. The springs should have the clutch pack locked all together. If you can move the clutch plates, the pressure plate is installed incorrectly and it will be as if the clutch was engaged.

@@MrPetRooster still the same exact issue. Took it all back out and made sure all the springs pressure plates and friction plates were correct, but I am getting nowhere. Any tips?

I am not the original owner so I can’t say how it was driven. I replaced it at about 800 hrs.

I have 2500 miles on my 2020 yxz xtr and clutch is still good, when do u guys recommend a replace it ?

When it starts slipping (especially in higher gears under power)
