including that doesn't make any sense.....as the higher model of helios 300 goes up to rtx 2070maxQ ,which will deliver 2 or 3 more or less fps than 2060-115W that too for an increased price (maybe $200 , following last years price differnce) so buying 2070maxq will not make any sense , dipping acers sale...

The reason is pretty damn simple, it'll cost 100 bucks more for just a little more performance. I prefer this price point much more, this was last year's price of 1660ti. Why do people keep crying all the damn time lmao.

Aj It only comes with the 512 ssd, you can get the 1tb ssd version which is a bit more expensive. Or you can keep the 512 and get 1tb HHD. Or both 1tb ssd and hdd. Again you need to pay more.

Still Acer better , listen first ok ? In India Hp omen comes with Ryzen 7 GTX 1660 ti with 60 hz screen only and no rtx 2060 available and build quality is not soo good and it costs around 2,229 $ if we covert it , and Acer Predator Helios 300 costs 1612$ so in my guess Acer better

I don’t think there is any rush, the 9750h is fine for gaming. My advice is to save up and buy an RTX 3000 laptop that will have a mux switch so you can use the dedicated GPU otherwise you might as well stick with the 2000 series

For gaming intel, other than that amd. The video showed us that r5 4600 and i7 10750h can go toe to toe. Unfortunately, r5 doesn't have good gpu pairing, at most you could get 1650ti as far as i know.

Personally I like the extra battery life and CPU performance the TUF A15 brings but if you are after just pure faster frame rates the Helios is the clear winner

exactly, it's frustrating how other people commenting don't see this! last year's model didn't even reach 90 degrees in stress tests, this one reaches 93 in games even without turbo!

Do NOT get the LENOVO. I have the y540, and my husband has Predator 17.3 i7 2060Nvidia. The lenovo dies constantly. I have had it in for repair 6 times in two years. The charging port is a horrible design. Also, for gaming the predator is faster. We have played many games together. He's usually waiting for my pc to catch up. He has never had a repair. I really wish I had waited for restock, but we were anxious to start playing.

My 2019 model had the 1660Ti and basically its the same chassis, I mentioned the differences in the video...

2019 is certainly better because of better cooling due to is default undervolting feature. Not to mention, it will be cheaper too. Its not worth having your CPU going over 90C just for 5-10% performance gain. To make things worse, the i10 chip is still running on 6 cores unlike AMD Ryzen 4800/4900H which have 8 cores.

The 2019 is pretty good. They are selling like hot cakes on eBay but problem is the sellers are gouging aka over pricing as wanting to make their money back and then some. Paid $1,099 and months later after they have used it sell on eBay asking $1,399. Also the issue to watch out for are those people who constantly overworked the Helios 300, even in excellent condition running the CPU near 90 degrees celsius had drastically reduced the i7-9750H life expectancy. Undervolting of -125mv does little. All the RU-vid videos and reviews about using ThrottleStop and XTU "Intel Extreme Tuning Utility" you still have Thermal Throttling. Intel can not produce a CPU that does not run HOT! AMD APU or CPU or whatever want to call them are crap. AMD Threadripper was the only time Intel had worries. Okay! The basic or base model 2019 Helios 300 MSRP was $1,099 USD no RGB Keyboard backlighting just Blue and GTX 1060ti. In Sept. 2019 was selling for $999. Being used, 1 year old as released in April 2019 and non-transferable warranty if more than $749 you should pass on it. Spend that much might as well get the new 2020 for $1,199. Have you ever bought an Used Car only within 6 months to 9 months you need repairs and the dealer only gave you 90 days. Used Computers can have problems the original owner never disclosed, most of them on eBay won't accept returns. Leaving you to battle it out using eBay and Paypal as referees. Again, like automobiles that computers Depreciate in value, they never gain value. - You are correct about the difference between 2019 and 2020, just as the same can be said of 2018 and 2019. Little Less Performance. So if you happen to get a bargain or fair deal on a 2019 Helios 300, take it. After 1 year, automatic 20 to 25 percent off. 2 years should be 40 percent off, and 3 years 50 percent off. Then take 10 percent off each year afterwards as 4 years is 60, 5 years is 70 and by the 8th year it is worthless.

@@ApocalypticFart I just bought a helios 300 with i7, 1660ti and 8 gb ram and boy its worth every cents I paid for. I'm gonna upgrade it to 16gb ram when I save up more money. I bought it for $1.5k btw it was on sale with a free gaming chair.

prices are super good here for the 2020, 1,284 is the max ill be paying. Also under volt + lower turbo boost will lower the temps by a huge margin if you know what you're doing.

thermals improved? are you joking or something? even with Turbo off(45 watts on the CPU\80 on the GPU) the CPU gets to 93 degrees. The max last year's model got was 88-90 degrees after a very long gaming session.

@@basithoffl except they both consume 56 watts on the CPU and 80 watts on the GPU(I'm talking about default mode) and if last year's helios peacked at 88 degrees in stress tests(where undervolting doesn't matter and only raises clockspeeds), then the new one reaches 93 degrees even not in turbo (45\80 watts), so no, the new one is definitely hotter.

You could actually just buy another metall fan for that one and try to replace it. You can get it for 40 bucks. but it still comes with the chassis being made for the left side, so you will have to find a workaround for that.

they would need to remake the cooling for that. The CPU already reaches 90+ degrees and GPU 75 degrees in demanding games, which is the maximum safe temperature for prolonged workloads.

Thanks. HWinfo doesn't show the offset voltage - even after I undervolted it. So if it did have an UV out of the box it must have been much less than the -80mv I applied as you can see by the performance gains I got. I suspect it was not. Yes, it does have optimus. You can disable the UHD graphics and uninstall the 2060 via device manager. The max power the 2060 has is 90w. You can overclock it like I did but gains were minimal, but it will still be at 90w

Its a tough one because I only have the original Vive and WMR headset which even a 1050ti can play because of the lower resolution.

How sure are you that omen runs cooler though?

@@zildjhongarcia3386 check jarrod tech thermal video of omen 15 4800h, 4800h uses under 45 W for max performance while intel can go to 75 W. So cpu taking less power with big vents and fans, Jarrod found cpu hardly reaches 75 °C in performance mode while intel reach 85+ easy but intel temp can be brought down with cooling pad and so then so can be omen's too.

I don't recall anything bad about the keyboard.

Prices need to go down. Why pay 1300 for a 2060 laptop when a 3060 with twice the performance available at same price

Is battery life super important? If so the Omen should get you an extra 2 to 2.5 hrs, otherwise you will get better frame rates with the RTX 2060 on the helios, its is very fast. Check out my RP17 review where in the benchmarks I show it against the Helios 300. I think it is. The result from last year was with the turbo mode activated on the 1660Ti and there is quite a big difference

Jarrod tests his in the campaign which is usually gives a higher frame rate so his result looks disappointing. Mine is taken on the Rotterdam map as I play a multiplayer game because I feel that is what most people are actually going to be doing. I always use the same map and results are quite consistent. The map definitely makes a difference, in the gameplay video I show two maps and you can see the frame rate counter. I use DX 11 so perhaps that is the difference ?
