Thoughts on a Helios 300 with Ryzen CPUs and a 1660 Ti for $1000? Also, website expected to go live in about 4-6 weeks (hopefully). Will be pretty hot :pog:
So i ordered this thing couple days ago and i have a question. When i am gaming am i supposed to have it plugged in? cuz the battery isnt removable and performane is much better with it plugged in or will the battery degrade too much too soon?
@@zildjhongarcia3386 Naukay Laptop Bag 15 Inch on Amazon. It's a sleeve. I've boughten several Amazon sleeves. I thought I was using one. They are mostly all the same thing.
I got mine from amazon a few weeks ago and love it. I have the same issue with the keyboard as well, but it is very minor and I have to be mindful to properly hit the keys squarely and firmly. It could be I was used to a keyboard that was very sensitive. Absolutely love it though, it runs great and is easy to transport. The Acer Predator software is very cool too. I can concur with the issues of removing the bottom tray, it is a pain but is much easier with proper tools.
I think for Dell hinges they are actually designed well compared to Lenovo. I've seen Lenovo laptop hinges get wrecked, but the hinges on the Dell 7567 I bought as a second hand still works flawlessly. Of course unit defect or user error could lead to the same problems.
I bought this beast for 1.12 lakhs with 3 years Any damage Warranty from Acer website a month ago. Now the price has gone up or out of stock, I think. That was an awesome deal I think.
It's actually very easy to get inside. After removing the screws you just press the arrows at the back and the whole cover simply clicks-free. Very easy and no need for and credit card to open clips.
I'm getting this laptop soon! And I'm so happy that I waited for this laptop than settling for the Asus TUF A15 for the same price. It cost me around $1,550 here in my country, but they sell it in malls for $2,000.
I have a helios 300 gtx 1660 ti and it's great. Temperatures are amazing as well as performance for the price. I recently uploaded some gameplay footage of cyberpunk on the laptop, if you want to see how it performs (even though the game isnt well optimized yet 😅)
I was aiming straight for this laptop after choosing it between the HP Omen and this one. Do you think it's much of a concern the hinges problem you mentioned earlier in the video?
i had a alienware r2 and loved it. had a dell g5 loved it. had a asus rog and hated it. now i just got the 2020 helios 300 like in the video and its the best laptop ive ever owned. ive only had it for 1 week but its awsome so far and i got ot for $1145
Yep, I reused footage from the 2019 model for the exterior shots because I got lazy. You can confirm it's the 2020 model from the silver plastic pieces below the rear exhaust vents and the rear charging port.
What's better? This or the Legion 5 AMD 1660ti? Thanks! Both cost $2400- $2600 where I'm from and I need to make the right decision. Thermals from what I've seen already have me leaning toward the Legion
0:23 wow dodgeball my favorite ❤️ i was rank 2 out of thousands of players on the server i joined but kinda sad i stopped because i dont have laptop nor computer to play thats why im looking for a gaming laptop ❤️🥰
if you compare keyboard with hp pavilion 15, does 15 got better response? in other word, do you experience the lightly touching leads to no response as you mentioned here?
So i ordered this thing couple days ago and i have a question. When i am gaming am i supposed to have it plugged in? cuz the battery isnt removable and performane is much better with it plugged in or will the battery degrade too much too soon?
@@houneavireakpong9098 As someone who has been gaming on a samsung since 2013 till now I can attest that having it plugged in did not degrade it, how ever I did at one point get a battery change in this 7 years I abused this laptop but I think it was due to the fact that I overheated the laptop in hot seasons and I also dropped it a few times.
I think the important thing with batteries is that they degrade more when going through more charge cycles. As long as it's plugged in always, you should be fine. The moment you start doing things like unplugging and letting it drop to 70-80% and then plugging it back again it starts to cause a problem.
@@a.Hopeful thats funny I have heard the opposite, my friend for example always charges his laptop to full and then lets it go down to 10-12% and charges again, he has a mac though and idk if that is relevant.
Hi, whats up friend. I wanted to ask you a question? I am in doubt which team is better in both games and software use. I like these 2 laptops. Acer Predator Helios 300 2020. Msi gp65 leopard both have the tenth generation i7 and rtx 2060. I would like you to give me your opinion.
The rtx 2060 is 14% faster than gtx 1660ti...also,you get DLS which is quite promising along with ray tracing..so rtx 2060 is good to go and worth going for.
Can anyone tell me which one data review has high accuracy because I confused with the Gamut display as comparing this data with the own or disown review data
watching this on my helios 300 lol for those that have this laptop I suggest you put in the power option ... 99% processor performance max to lower the Heat it produces for a slight performance loss , especially for those that live in Hot places
I was able to get this model for the same price but with a 17.3 inch 144Hz, and 1TB NVMe SSD, everything else is the same as the one your reviewed, I should get it on Friday!
tl;dr I make money by selling products so I don't care about making an extra $1000 when it's just going to annoy viewers. If you mean RU-vid ads, there should be. If you mean paid promotions like "check out this product, use my code for 5% off" it's because you came here to see a review of a product, not to listen to me tell you about some random company nobody cares about. Someone from HP contacted me after my last video on the OMEN 15 telling me I can make money from affiliate links in the description of my videos. I said no, but I'd be interested in reviewing their laptops. They said I need to join their affiliate program to get review units, and that I would be forced to put affiliate links in ALL my HP reviews AND I need to tell my viewers to check them out so I declined. I can get laptops myself, it just might take longer. The reason is because I want my videos to be as entertaining and as least annoying as possible. I want to maintain a high level of trust, and if I start accepting money to promote products, how do my viewers know that I'm not being influenced by money even just a little bit? My videos get more views than my subscriber count and I'll be using my channel to promote my business soon for web design and development. The more views my videos get, the better my business will do. I get offers for $3-5000 USD for a 3 minute promotional video, and $700-1000 for a 1 minute in-video ad. That's nothing compared what I expect to make from web development. My channel is for reviews only, and I make money by selling products (in this case websites).
I live in EU and this laptop with same config costs upto £2000 in amazon uk. I bought this laptop from amazon . Com for €1500( including import tax) and I am absolutely in love with it.
@@darryl9427 ye ik England is not in EU. It is however, the closest amazon to Ireland(where i stay)and they dont charge import charges. Not yet anyway. Its usually my go-to amazon so I compared the 2 prices and found that buying from US was cheaper
Not sure if i want this or a I7-10750H 2080 Super - 300hz screen Razor blade 15 for $1000! But I heard the heat temps get high and that makes me not want to get it because would the high temps make the life of the laptop short? And would the fans be super loud?
Hey what should be the ideal cpu temperature for a laptop while gaming. My current laptop has an i5 7th gen processor and goes upto 80 degrees when gaming. Is that normal. I see in the review he is saying the temp goes 90 degrees isn't that way tooo high?
I'm confused, is your laptop the 2020 version or the 2019 version? I know that the vents on the keyboard deck is a feature of the 2020 iteration but at the same time your laptop has the "Predator" below the logo on the back of the screen (2020 version only have the logo on the back) and the your laptop's fins that are close to the heatsink on the rear are black (2020 version have white fins). What model is this?
I reused some footage from the 2019 model believing they had the same exterior appearance. This is the 2020 model, and I reviewed the 2019 model as well.
Which to choose omen 15 4800h+rtx 2060 vs omen 15 10750h +rtx 2060 vs acer predator helios 300 10750h+rtx 2060, price is almost similar for all 3 in my country also not much different from each other nothing bad in all 3. Primary use is gaming but i wont play games like forever so mix use later and this is kind of primary laptop then a gaming only laptop for me. Plz reply🙏🙏🙏
Which company is better for product reliability, durability and hardware quality out of Acer Predator series Asus ROG Strix G series, Lenovo Legion series or HP Omen 15 ? Please answer.
Hi good afternoon, please i have a question . am planning on buying this laptop for cinema modelling and am kinda curious if the laptop can be upgrade into 32gb ram or more graphics card. thank you
is a 15 inch screen too small or should i get the 17 inch one. the only problem i have with getting 17 inch one is its not verified by amazon and last time i ordered one that wasn’t verified in any way with amazon it never came
When battery is low/drained, does fan speed increase to 3k RPM during battery charging even when idle and temps are low (40-45c)? I have the same laptop and wonder if this is normal or not.
I'll look into it. I've already reviewed the spectre so I wasn't sure if it made sense reviewing the envy since they seemed to similar. I saw them both in person and at first glance they didn't seem all that different, but I'll bump it up on my priority because of your comment. Funnily enough, someone from HP emailed me after my previous video on the OMEN 15 saying I can get review units if I put affiliate links in my videos and tell people to check them out. I declined because that's annoying, so I'm not sure how long it will take to get the Ryzen model specifically. But if I find one and I don't have more popular laptops to review, I'll make a video
@@InfinityLabsTech Sounds good, it's been getting a lot of praise. Since your reviews are unbiased and to the point, so it'd be great to see the review. About the affiliate links, it's really nice of you to think about the viewers and I read a comment where you said you just review and do not go promoting companies that no one is interested in. Totally your call about the affiliate links man, even if you go with it, we'll be fine since we're still getting some good content from you. Cheers and thank you :)
@@addycool06 Well regarding the money, this might sound kinda douchey but I've gotten desensitized to money. I've used a lot of nice computers, grew up in a fairly large house, driven Porsches and Teslas, and now I don't really idolize anything. I don't own any of those things, to be clear. I just got the opportunity to experience those things. But after you experience them first hand and the excitement wears off, you can appreciate them but it's not like "i'm going to work the rest of my life to own this car" or "I'm gonna work overtime to buy a custom water cooled desktop." And for this reason, I don't have anything I'm desperate to purchase so I don't care about milking my channel for money. Besides, what's a couple thousand dollars when I can make a couple hundred thousand a year from my web design and development business? RU-vid for me is a fun little hobby on the side, programming and business is what I'm looking to pursue. In the long run, the ad revenue from this channel alone could pretty easily make $5000 per month and the value in self promoting my businesses would be almost invaluable if I got a couple hundred thousand views per video. Those are my reasons for refusing to accept any money outside of RU-vid ad revenue. Sounds like a huge brag, but you seem cool and I thought you might be interested.
@@InfinityLabsTech hey im currently having trouble deciding on whether i should get the helios 300 with the specs an in the vid or the omen 15 with the rtx 2060 i7-10750h 300hz. The helios is arnd 70 bucks cheaper. what would u get? Thanks
On this laptop I can say is really good for what u pay, I mean I got from $1170 and most gaming laptop with a rtx 2060 and above are way too expensive, this one is amazing for the price, I can play most games at 60fps or even at 144, is so good, specially when jumping from a gtx960m! One day I will build a desktop one.
I would default to the Helios 300 and only go for the OMEN if you don't need the 2.5" SATA slot and need really good cooling. This is a really good value for performance
If you want a big battery, the MSI GS66 and GE66 have 100 watt-hour batteries. If you're looking for maximum battery life, you will be better off with a Ryzen 4000 model. Those are very power efficient. If battery is a big concern, the OMEN + Ryzen should be pretty good. But I've never used it so I can't tell you how good it actually is, this is just speculation from my experience with other laptops
@@InfinityLabsTech thank you man ! And ya I am looking at Asus Zephyrus G14, omen 15 4800H + 2060, Acer predator triton 500, Alienware m15 R3 rtx 2060 ( just for the design ) or msi ge66 which one do you think will be the best for me ?I do gaming and am a programmer and I am a college student as well.
Oof the Alienware's keyboard is easily top 4 on any laptop for me, but the thermals aren't good. Haven't tried the GE66 or the G14. Triton 500 is really nice overall, but the RAM is on the back side of the motherboard so you need to disassemble everything to access them. Can't really say which one fits you best without having tried those 2 I mentioned
Trackpad should be aligned with the alphanumeric portion of the keyboard because you only need to bend your arm at the elbow to access it. If it was centered against the body of the laptop when the alpha cluster is shifted over to the left, you'd need to move your hand horizontally and that's bad user experience.
I am in a dilemma, I have a old pc that is really showing its age and I want to get something that plays as many games at 144fps 1080p. Is this laptop able to play top of the line new games at 144fps 1080?
Can you please suggest me a laptop according to the following requirements:- At least Nvidia gtx 1660ti Core i7 Colour accurate 144hz screen Light and thin
You might want to take a look at the Asus Zephryus G14. Not exactly a laptop with an i7 but you get AMD's new 4000 series CPU. That's much better than intel. Also the GPU's an RTX 2060
A friend of mine asked what would be a good thin and light 14 inch laptop with decent graphic for occasional gaming for around $1000 (can be a little bit over and under). What would you recommend? Nice video as always!
I don't think I've reviewed any 14" laptops with a GTX 1650 or equivalent GPU. I guess maybe the Lenovo IdeaPad 14". There's a bunch of ideapad models, but I reviewed the 15" IdeaPad S740 and apparently there's a 14" version as well with decent performance. I liked the 15", but haven't used the 14" myself so I can't tell you how it is. I'm on my phone at the moment but I'm gonna assume the G14 that's been popular lately is over their budget. Those 2 are all I got off the top of my head
Hlo...I a mechanical Engineer and I am searching laptop that can run my CAD software and Analysis software fast and fluently. So can you tell me a best budget laptop in the range of $1500? I have a eye on acer predator Helios 300 2020 model and on HP omen 15 2020 (both with Intel i7 processor and 1660ti) which one is good pick for me? Or there are other good options?... please reply I need a laptop as soon as possible. THANK YOU
Bro, i am not an mechanical engineer but a student of mechanical engineering. As a user to this laptop which i bought 2 month, I can assure you that this laptop can run solidworks and Cad softwares with no problem since i done it for class project or projects outaide curricular classes.
this laptop cost about 2300 dollar at my country (israel) so fun although i bought this laptop on amazon despite the taxes is still was pretty cheap at about price of (with 350 texes and 60 dollars shipping) about 1600 dollar😭🙂
I recently brought acer predator Helios 300 , and I'm having a little issue that after maximizing the fans my CPU RPM goes only to 4918 (after overclocking as well). I've seen in other people laptop's (of same model) they get 5000+ CPU RPM.. Is it ok to have 4838 or 4918 cpu rpm??
Thanks for the review, can't believe the latest Helios 300 tested Prime95 CPU at 93 degree Celsius compare to the latest Omen at 83 Celsius!!! Helios is suppose to be cooler. Bad thermal paste perhaps?
I have heard many complaints about heating issue in Helios 300. Most of them tell that it is just Acer cheaping out on the thermal paste. But if you use MX-4 or Kryonaut, you would be fine. It decreases the temp down 13-20*C. The result is that when you run the app making it peaks out at 93-95 will now be as low as 70-77
The OMEN 15 is like 5-7% faster in games because it's got much better cooling. It's been a while since I've used them but they were both enjoyable to use I think. I wouldn't say one was substantially better than the other.
@@InfinityLabsTech but from your reviews the benchmarks in predator Helios is sorta better than omen 15. I'm confused considering that omen has a higher tdp GPU yet the lower tdp GPU in predator happened to outperform a lot of costlier laptops last year.
@@dhritiman7700 Oh shit you're right. Uh well in that case the most accurate answer is whatever my benchmarks say because I just went off of my memory. I just compared the thermal graphs and for some reason the GPU is clocked lower on the OMEN 15 despite consuming more power in DOOM Eternal. I don't really have an explanation for why this might be, unfortunately. It could be software related, but I don't have either laptops anymore soooo I guess the safest option would just be to accept the benchmarks and go with the Helios 300. Keep in mind though that the only games with in-game benchmarks for 100% consistent results that can be compared between multiple runs are Tomb Raider and Deus Ex. The other games I will try to play the same section to minimize variations between runs and take the average frame rate, but you can't get the exact same results every single run on the same machine so it's not consistent. The overall experience is similar enough that if there's more than a $100 difference in price, I would just go with the cheaper one. I enjoyed using them both. Very nice mid-range gaming laptops.
@@InfinityLabsTech I would go for the one that would come cheaper. Liked that part. Here in India everything in electronics is costlier. Few days back the predator was on sale for 999$ in the usa. While I am sure that when it releases in India, it would be around 1700$. Which sucks
That's unfortunate. I wonder if it's viable to have someone proxy a laptop over. They buy it at USA prices, then ship it over. You would likely lose your warranty since a lot of companies make it country or continent based, but that may be worth the price difference.
yes. Definitely the helios 300 is very good at its price point the extra 300 dollars for the better graphics card is very worth it. the model I have has the rtx2060 but the one you found has a rtx2070 which gives a bigger performence in games.
@@billchang9320 yeah but instead im thinking about buying a sharkgaming pc (its a nordic company) i will get e ryzen 3700x with a rtx 3070 for about 1250$
@@shebilpullat3529 I haven't undervolted at all, It probably could stand a little undervolting though as the cpu temp is always higher than gpu. When running games I leave the cpu fan on max and the gpu a little below max. the cpu sits around 86-87 degrees C and the gpu about 75. with the fans on auto the cpu gets to around 93c.
