Disagree with the comments re handling. I like to drive cars hard. Had an Alfa Giulia, and chose that because it handled better than any of the German equivalents. Then had the Kia Stinger V6, which is the size of this car virtually and is an absolute other level to the 5 series - and 3 series for handling. Now have the V6 A6 Quattro (petrol) and this car pulls hard and it grips. Yes you can feel the weight a little bit on tight bends but you get used to that. You can still hammer it into a corner and you will not end up in a hedge - or wrong side of the road, it stays where you tell it to. And then is sublime for a relaxing cruise. A great all rounder.
Audi is more about confort than handling than BMW. Simple as that. No need to hammer it over and over. Btw loved the scenery, looks like you are in a movie
This guy is paid to be critical however the thing he may need to remember is that drivers of this type of car don't tend to care about steering feel. They care more about comfort, space and technology. So in that sense it is right at the top of the class
Really hmm . This guy seems biased to me. I think he's one of those guys who grew up thinking BMW and Mec are the best and nothing will ever beat them . But hey those days are gone Mr reviewer . This is a beauty I'll buy it over big 3series sorry I meant 5series or E class. This guy is so critical but most reviews say this is better than its revivals ????? How old is he
bestman but if you actually try to drive bmw or mercedes you would know why he keeps saying that they are more dynamic. Audi drives just like a vw. That's not bad at all, but average at best.
Good review. Initially, I thought it was a bit boring running through the different specs but I appreciated the comments thereafter. I think if you could have given a bit more information on the interior, in particularly seat adjustment (a big issue for me!) it would have been improved. Overall well done.
I think Audi should have kept you out of their car! You hate it. Your review is very different to virtually all others. The love of your life the 5 series is a bit long in the tooth now. Just my opinion.
Am I the only one who doesn’t like the Center console screens. Audi makes really nice switch gear and they’ve replaced it it a fingerprint magnet. That’s the reason why I’d have a 5 series or E class
I used to love Audi, other than the interior they are becoming the most boring bland cars on the road. They are competition right up there with Toyota for making boring crap, other than RS cars of course.
Who in heavens name is buying this class of cars for racing?? We want smooth rides. Not a nerv wrecking 5 series that needs steering corrections on the high way every 2 seconds?
Hmm, I must have blinked, I missed the whole of the interior part. I also agree with some of the other comments, the guy seems a little bias to BMW and Mercedes
The reason I buy audi is because I love their cars. I dont want my audi to be like BMW mercs or jaguar.... I love my audi being nothing else but an audi. This is something that many RU-vid cars reviewers need to know. When someone spends money on an audi that simply means they don't want any other car than an audi...... yes I have owned a few BMW in my life .... no I would never touch a merc and jag is simply not for me
I'm pretty sure everyone knows it's not as sporty as the BMW 5 Series, but that's not necessarily why people buy cars like this. You should be reviewing it from a normal commuter's perspective in Berlin or some big city - then the A6 will possibly be the best in its class.
@@sweetfreedomGB Not so sure about that. BMW would surely cover that base? They have had the laziest blandest interiors for years and the outside designs have lacked inspiration for over 20 years - M models aside. Making a bit more of an effort at the moment to be fair to them.
Lad is slagging a lot by comparing to something else... You are impressed with all tech and touch lcd all over... In my opinion is complication without real benefit. In fact I can adjust temperature without looking at dash, or press any button because I know where it is without moving eyes from the road... Try this with flat touch lcd...
Appears the uneducated commenters here just want a press release from Audi read to them as the review. No opinions are allowed they haven't driven this so it automatically means they know more than the one person who has driven it
Not only BMW and Mercedes, when this guy praised the Jaguar I knew there was no need to watch the rest of the video. As a owner of a Jaguar F-Pace and who tried the XE and XF, Jaguar is a POS, the only thing it has is that it certainly is fun to drive ON A TRACK, but you don't buy cars to go to a track: - terrible materials/plastics - awful build quality with rattling noises in the central dash with less than 10000km/~6000 miles - terrible multimedia with constant Bluetooth issues cutting off music - more than once had the rearview camera on the entire journey, couldn't control navigation, radio, volume, nothing, even the wheel controls didn't work - can't have navigation on the virtual cockpit, because it's controlled by the same cpu that powers the center screen, and there's a risk it shuts down, as already happened while driving and the entire screen goes off until it reboots, so you're driving with no information whatsoever including speed... It's the first and last Jaguar I'll buy. That's why I'm trading my other car, an A5 Sportback for the A6 Avant, the A5 gave my 8 years of peace of mind and enjoyment.
I have driven both - the BMW handles better but is an uncomfortable ride to sit in these days... the E38 was the best car I ever had. I just got the new A6 - for comfort and luxury inside the vehicle. not dissapointed in the slightest
Thanks for the review. I appreciated the critical comparison with the BMW 5 series. However some critical key differences were not covered: (1) is the Audi more economical in the 2Litre Diesel for its performance? (2) Does the Audi match the Bavarian in the 2Litre Diesel class for acceleration and driver seating comfort? (3) What about cost of ownership over the first 3 years? (4) Do you really notice the driveability difference, when driving below 8/10ths of the limit? Thanks again,
Buy yourself a audi 3tdi and feel . Dont test drive that is nothing own . You will sing beautiful songs. O it is nice to drive a audi. I have 3audi's that is class
Bmw fanboy made a premium class German car look like a Lada. Some people like to have some travel on the pedal before actually braking and it has for sure more space in the rear.
My daily is a g30 540i and looking to trade in for an A6, I test drove one last week with various ratio rack/4 wheel steering and I completely agree with everything this guy said in the video. A6 does feel smaller than g30 thanks to 4-wheel steering, but the driving dynamics and steering feel is really a step down from BMW, the car doesn't feel as tight/controlled as the 5 series and the throttle response is even worse. The disappointing part is Audi used to have better interior, the special solid feeling and more refinement than BMW, not the case with A6/5 series. Heck 5 series is even quieter and more isolated than A6 on hwy. I am a huge Audi fan and I know how much better the B9 A4 is than F30, but from what I have seen so far A6 is just an underdog in the segment. Sigh. With that being said, there is a $7000 manufacturer rebate going on and 0.5% interest, it's a bargain!
Does this guy know anything except how to complain about this car. Why the hell would you mention a piece of crap like jaguar in the same sentence as an audi. Clearly biased because he is british. It seems like he is just looking to complain about everything. The car has excellent reviews and has been recommended by many folks and is best in its class compared to its rivals (I mean quality rivals like bmw, benz etc.).
You are the only "reviewer" if we can call you a reviewer that has so many complains about the new A6...almost everyone else loved it...and said its quite better than the competition
Hraklis Bakalopoulos yeah how dare he have an opinion that's different than yours as clearly you've driven and tested this A6 as well. What's your RU-vid channels I can watch your reviews?
It is refreshing and consoling to listen to an auto journalist who tells it like it is, and makes every effort to describe the driving experience as true and honest to the best if his abilities and sensibilities as this presenter did on this high profile product, without succumbing to fear if being judged and hated.
His problem is that he is reviewing the car as a sports car when it is a luxury executive car. The point of the car is to be smooth and not hyper reactive.
I've owned my 2017 BMW 520d for the past 26 Months and it's one of the best cars I've ever owned. Having had an A6 & A4 in the past, I test drove the new A6 50 TDI Quattro and fail to see how it's not quite as polished as the 5 series. My next car will be the A6 as it's just as good as the 5 series though not one to push a Car & prefer to just cruise along.
Well looks are subjective. I personaly think the 5 series looks better. Technolgically advanced maybe yes but it certainly does not drive all that well. Once you drive this and then BMW straight after that you will now what i am talking about. This boring uber-VW can not be compared to the real driving machine - the 5 series.
Ivan Mico you are wrong. This argument is the same old crap. We have had 2 7 series now and 2 A6,s the drive isn’t much of a difference in regards to dynamics. We have the G11 right now but will likely get this new A6 again, comfort will not be as good as the 7 but in comparison to the 5 it’s basically the same car it’s just preference on what you prefer. People like to use the driving machine marketing phrase but it’s comfort people desire really.
I always and will always love audi styling by being simple but extremely elegant, they already have a winning style and proportions why should they break it and add design features and lines that may look super exciting for some blind people, it’s class the way it is, and in my opinion the A6 new face lift looks better than the new A8 and A7
Sorry but no matter how you'd like to cut it, RWD cars like the Beemer and the Merc will ALWAYS have the driving satisfaction edge over the A6, even if it's a Quattro, since the platform is FWD based. Understeer ahoy.
If anything the chassis is AWD based as with the new A6 is AWD in most models and unlike with the A4 I haven’t heard that the base model Quattro’s are “Ultra” based so they’re rear biased drive. I definitely think you’ll find this latest chassis is far far less prone to understeer particularly when coupled with the all wheel steering. They’re obviously not going to be oversteer machines like some of the Merc’s and BM’s but much more entertaining in any reasonable every day driving conditions. If you’re big on tracking your your mid sized executive sedan the yeah buy the Merc or BMW but in real world this new car is easily competitive.
What’s funny is people go on about this yet don’t even experience anything as one may think as they aren’t speeding in their A6 or 5 series around bends. The normal driver values comfort, sad truth is that we have a bmw for the comfort, the 7 series isn’t exactly sporty so why does it matter if let’s say the Audi was less sporty. It’s nit picking and pretty pointless, we had an A6 before the 7 and it’s this FWD vs RWD argument is a load of rubbish most of the time
george mcray can you plese tell me what is not boring for you? They make timless elegant design if you know what that is you cant play with designe in this class of cars.
