I saw the new A6 at an Audi dealership a couple of weeks ago. I was so impressed with the design. I love how Audi can make a car look understated, elegant, and sporty at the same time. And as usual with Audi, the interior is absolutely amazing.
I was about to fulfill my Bimmer fixation and last minute I decided to look into the A6. Got a C7 model recently with very low mileage. I think I’m trading in for this in the next couple years. Kind of stole my heart from BMW. And yes it is a Quattro. I’m in love with it!
Nice car. Unfortunately, just like BMW and Mercedes (and to a certain extent, Volvo), nor affordable for 'normal' people. I'll stick with Nissan and Hyundai...
Hi Bob, wonder has the rattle and squeaks from the middle of the dash around the screens gone , as i drove that model on a rough road and could hear them, was seriously put off.
Get a land cruiser folks, it costs 50k used one but it'll never break down, make sure it's a petrol engine though but i guess it's too big to drive around on Ireland's roads
I've had an A6 for 5 years now (the Avant) and it's the bombproof. I had no expectations for it ... use it for work, take the dogs out etc ... but honestly, I can't fault it at all. Great car.
Bob great review and they just seem to get better every time keep it going and I reckon you'll be at 55k subs this time next year Regards Johnny begood
I don't like the Touchscreen screens.. I think nice premium traditional manual dashboard controls (nice large knobs, etc) are so much better and easier to use than a touchscreen. Major deal breaker for me. Unfortunate, because the rest of the Audi (except for the low profile tires) is pretty nice. Higher profile tire would also make the Audi drive better and smoother.
howlingwolf125y it requires more attention off of the road. But they definitely are leading the German engineering. Next gen will be controlled via brainwaves lol. It’s coming sooner than later. Tesla with Neurolink coming soon...!
@@4lb280 that's interesting. As a chauffeur, I've always wanted to be able to adjust the climate control temperature(s) from the steering wheel - I don't suppose it's possible to configure that function?
Bizarrely, I disagree completely on the comparison of infotainment, we have latest VAG and bmw in our house and iDrive is still the king - it’s just more usable every day - less clicks of touch screens (while driving) to do basic functions that could easily just be buttons, better Nav, and the real time traffic info RTTI function is fantastic etc. The iDrive upturned pie dish controller is more intuitive, and so on. The VAG digital cluster wears off quickly and you tend to set and forget. And finally - the constant fingerprints on our VAG drives my OCD mental!
The biggest junk that rides on the streets ! ! ! If you have to buy, because you have no other option, keep it only for as long as you have a guarantee or if you have an unlimited supply of fresh cash. I know something about it, because for 35 years I have been living (and relatively well) thanks to those who drive such cars.
I must have OCD. That open cup holder cover is driving me mad as I watch the review! That interior is beautiful though! Great stuff Bob! The complete electronic interior looks beautiful but worries me too much. So much can go wrong.
Hey, you have mentioned that full tank would give 1180km which equates to 733 approx. Just wondering how this is possible? Was the setting on efficiency? please explain? Thanks
Had my A6 Avant 40TDi for 3 weeks and I love it. Owned 2 of the previous 2.0 tdi saloons and the new model is much more refined. The touchscreen does take your attention away from the road a bit, but the voice commands are excellent. You can say "I'm too cold" and it will ask you which temperature you want.
I'm interested in this as a possibility for use as limo. I never would have dreamt that the A6 might be able to be used as a limo, because I recently drove the *previous* generation short wheelbase A8, and was unimpressed with the leg room and boot. I.e - I assumed that the A6, being smaller again, would be completely unacceptable. However, a little birdie then suggested that I *do* have a look at the A6, and I was surprised that it has a GREAT boot, good head room, and perhaps *just* passable leg room - but this was the old model. The new model has 17mm more leg room (according to channel "OSV"). Yes - shame about the transmission tunnel. I assume they just make one chassis for FWD and AWD applications, as a cost cutting measure.
Good review Bob, stunning car, always a fan of the A6, only problem for the normal working Joe like myself is the price tag, non affordable unfortunately,
you know the way some cars suit certain colours what's the best colour for the salon and avant in your opinion. ps. give henry a stoke for another excellent aerial movie.
Get it in the wrong light and that brushed aluminium top surface on dash and centre console will blind ya like the B9 A4 with a fraction of the material I bet! I like the new shape, but odd that they didn't go with what I thought was one of the new signature design features with the clam shell bonnet.
@@BobFlavinVideo With the bonnet, it's not like the clam shell design wouldn't have worked with the lines down side, seems pretty similar to the . It would have finished it off perfectly! I can't see why they didn't unless a cost saving thing from drawing board to the metal. Crying shame tbh, I love the bonnet on my B9 A4 wrapping over and following into the line up the side. Googling around, the more I see the new one in different colours the more its screaming out at me as a poor choice (especially in silver!)
Great again Bob! I didnt catch the price of the diesel under test but Im guessing its a lot! Im not as enamoured with it myself, theres no doubting the quality of the fitments but it doesnt look too spacious for an executive class car and Id have to disagree on the boot, the opening looks tiny, its shallow and the bare metal panel? My word. The screen in the rear better be tough because its getting kicked and beaten and scratched every time someone tries to occupy the middle seat too!
@@BobFlavinVideo A big boot with hooks is a must have, as is heated seats for me (deal breaker!), I get all these in my lowly Skoda but without the solid door shutting thud or exquisite interior. Something about me would still prefer an L&K superb or even a 280 sportline, but Im cheap. Perhaps a new campaign 'bring back the hooks'?
Bob willl there be a biturbo TDI version? Driving a 320 2015 BiTDi at min and want to know will there be something similar to change to when the time comes
your right why does he need music in the back ground, listening to it with apple air pods and it so rubbish, as bob your review are great it totally spoilt by music
Bob, great review as always. My father has the current E series and I think the road noise is a little high. I wonder is the A6 quieter? I have a Renault Fluence and it seems to be just about as quiet as the E series.
I got this with the 240hp petrol quatro. Goes like a rocket with foot down. Only got it for another year. Will be a sad day when the pick it up. 243£ p/m, absolute bargain.
wtf are you talking about ??? if you dont live in the hills where is alot of snow every year, quattro is totaly useless, you have bigger fuel consumption, the brake pads are exspensive as hell for quattro because uses bigger brakes in the back...and you have to pay 5000 eur more for quattro when you buy a new car...you are writing like its same price if you take quattro ...for a6 you can get from 60k eur to 100k eur depands what you choose
L C i agree for you guys its better v6 because you have cheap gas, we cant compare ourself we have gas 1.7 eur liter .... i would spend half paycheck to fill a v6 to drive to work
Well done Robert, Audi are accused of being overly staid with their styling whereas I like their steady and regular improvements. And they remain very handsome cars, something I would buy. Whereas, I have pretty much lost all patience with BMW's styling department, which appears to have gone all "moderne".. not for me any longer, sadly. Tho' at my age I am something of a fan-boy for the M2 Comp'. Nice one. Happy New Year. Best regards. WF. Carlisle. UK
Just been to the Audi showroom today. Car looks great from outside, especially if it's S line with large wheels like this one. Didn't do a test drive so can't say anything about drive, but the interior quality and feel doesn't compare to 3 years ago's (and today's) E-Class. It looks amazing in video, but when I got in the car and started touching the interior trim and door bins, window open/close buttons; opening/closing doors, paying attention to the carpet on the floor and in the trunk, ; it just felt less of a quality than how it feels in an E-Class. Infotainment system is a bit more responsive in Audi, but not as crisp as in E-Class. If you're thinking about this car, I'd say go and spend some time in an E-Class as well. AMG line looks nice. Maybe it's just personal preference though.
That is an incredible range. My A6 c8 petrol (3.0) shows a range of 410 miles when fill up. Maybe this will go up when get back to work and do more motorway driving. But even of it does, shall be nowhere near that!
I own a BMW and agree this is the best midsized sedan in the class. BMW worsened their IDrive for 2019, but little else has changed the last 5+ years. MB E Class has a confusing system, but drives quite well. Audi tablet like features are difficult to use while driving and worse when positioned so low. Still the best in the group and definitely worth a test drive,
Bob, good video. Thanks. How annoying was the FWD grip? I noticed it was damp/wet in the video. I think the 40Tdi is only available FWD for UK& IE? Thanks.
Screens look fancy and high-end, yet they are really not. This trend really plays out for the manufacturers as the production costs are much much smaller. I really like the cabin design from the new model but like the usability of the old model much more. And it doesn't look that much "dated" either.
I remember you commenting on Volvo's touch screen last year that it was distracting. So why are you not commenting about this touch screen when in fact they are more complicated than Volvo's. 2 touch screens infact. Come on Bob.
Great looking Car Bob. But that music in the background is annoying. It takes away from the feeling you are giving me a personal review of the car. No more of that background music please Bob.
Audi,s in ireland so very expensive go to the UK and buy one and even with the vrt still come home with a few grand in the pocket and better extras some are nearly 10grand in the difference
Went from a fully loaded c7 A7 to the 50tdi A6. Makes my A7 look very dated. Loved my A7 but don't miss it. Tech pack is superb. I did buy the luggage hooks from the boot 2mins to fit.
Prime reason diesel exists is cheaper fuel tax, cheaper VRT and we know real world fuel economy is nothing near official estimates unless you live on a traffic free motorway which few do.
Ok Bob now it's time for the new s6 review! If your away somewhere fancy and need someone to hold the camera I'm your man! Happy Christmas to you and the family, best of luck for 2019
I do not understand why people are wearing a thick jacket in the car when the airco temp is at 22 C ... Do they also keep their jackets on in their living rooms at same temperatures ? :-)
By the way, I have been reading about the launch of the Skoda Kodiaq VRS in Ireland and I am impressed. Have you any plans to do a full review of it soon ?
I'm looking forward to seeing this too, some direct comparisons to the sportline to see if the price is justified though. Also could it be the last new diesel vRS that Skoda will come out with? :O
I don't know what to say... the fake exhaust and the touch screens are a turn off for me! When the screens will go out... your wallet will cry out loud.
Great review Mr F as always; interesting to see the changes to the interior. I sat in a new 3 series the other day & was blown away, it is very, very good. I think BMW have responded to Audi. If they do the same to the 5 it will be a fabulous car.....if only I could afford one, oh & it didn't have the ludicrous grill 😬
Saw one of these at the showroom in (white S-line spec) a few weeks ago and was really impressed. The interior alone is on another level compared to the competition. Definitely the new class leader.
