Don’t worry James, I’d buy the S4 for my everyday driver if I could afford one. BMW straight six is a superb engine and seriously quick but for comfort and interior I’d go the Audi. Launching in reverse slayed me. Great video guys.

Great video guys!! My daily driver is a 2014 B8.5 Audi S4 and I absolutely love it! I've done some mods making it quicker and sound better than stock, but I feel like for the quattro awd and the way Audi does interiors it's hard to beat honestly. My weekend car is a 2013 Porsche 911 turbo s so I do enjoy German cars 🇩🇪 😎

Got a tuned ‘13 myself and it’s a great car but looking to move into the M340i. I thought I would miss the supercharger and dual clutch… except the twin scroll B58 and ZF are a gem of a combo. Didn’t feel slower than the tuned s4 (claimed 440hp tune on my gas) and actually felt about identically fast. The major difference was the Audi feels frantic hitting speed and the M340i feels like it wasn’t strained at all to pull the same speeds. Both clock 12.1@114 in the quarter, both hit 3.8 in 0-60 so identical. Seems like a great upgrade from the Audi since they’re so equal tuned vs stock. The b58 certainly left a few ponies on the table to find later too! Audi interior is a bit nicer imo but the rest goes to the the BMW. Better looks, suspension, brakes, more drama from the exhaust, slightly more efficient, and the effortless speed to be had. Both great cars. I’ll miss the charger whine for sure. Intake on it just for sound!

James: my daily driver is a 2018 Audi S5. I purchased the DTE PedalBox and it greatly improved throttle lag, plus it provides a much stronger acceleration in lower RPMs. I would love to see you re-run your new S4 with PedalBox installed & set in Sport+ mode.

Actually your very wrong. Maybe with 6Cylinders but higher up, Mercedes beats them by far. The C63, E63 S, S65/63, GT Series, .....mercedes has them beat. In motorsport mercedes beats them. On the track mercedes holds records. On road the fastest mercedes is 4.5 seconds faster to 100 than the fastest bmw (M8 Competition)

I have DTUK Tuning box on my 2017 S4. The car now produces 408bhp and 627nm. 0-60 in around 3.8 secs. The car is a complety different beast now. Highly recommended.

The B9 was the competitor to the F30 340i so it would have been fair to compare the C43/S4/340i (Not the M340i) The C43 has slightly more power than the S4 but weighs about 1XX pounds more than the S4. I wasn't set between the S4 and the C43 recently when I was in the market, but I chose the S4 at the end because of it's tech with the MMI which is amazing, the Bang&olufsen 19 speaker sound system. Both drive similar, but the C43 feels a little more alive than the S4.

Wonder how would a G70 fair. Mine has the legs on my buddy's 2019 S5.

From what I’ve seen the bmw does the 1/4 mile in about 12.15, c43 12.80, s4 12.85, g70 13.3

I've got no timings. Just ran our actual cars. Perhaps the S4 is faster than the S5. It is lighter.

@@constantine1321 no way... g70 is on par with m340i. I think you are quoting 2.0l 4 cylinder.

@@mapletree4283 nonsense. The 2.0t g70 does the quarter mile in just under 15 seconds. Most car mags have the 3.3 at 13.2 or 13.3, 0-60 mid to high 4 seconds. The S4 hits 60 in 4.2 seconds (car and driver) with quarter mile of 12.8. S5 is just as quick, maybe down 0.1 seconds in quarter mile. I have an S5, I drove it back to back with the G70, the S5 is quicker but not enough to really notice in daily driving. Both are very quick cars faster than 99% of other vehicles on the road. The m340i absolutely crushes both of them. It’s not even close. I drove one of them too, it is noticeably faster. I couldn’t get one used in my price range unfortunately. This is the new m340i we’re talking about though, the previous gen is around the same performance as current s4 and 3.3 g70

@@timf5288 I have the X3 M40i which is pretty much the same car as the M340i (maybe a tad heavier...)and my close friend has the G70 3.3TT and we are neck and neck in terms of acceleration. I also drove the S4 and the C43 as well and I honestly felt that S4 was the slowest of the 4 cars. I don't have the lap time or anything but that's how I felt anyways. I liked the massaging seat on the S4 (and the overall interior quality of the interior) though ;)

Looks like both Audi and BMW are underrated in power. The Beemer shot off, and for the Audi to keep up as close and be neck and neck with the "stated power" king, the Mercedes is very telling. Congrats to James, I'd have picked the S4 also for the styling, drive feel, the comfort and capability and the reliability of these B9S4s. The Audi has a solid feel to it and feels like a very well engineered car and safe car. The solid "thunk" sound of the doors closing is very satisfying. The digital gauge cluster in the Audi is also by far the best in class.
