Word to wise on autocross. You mentioned aggressive. Austin, Smooth is the key. Smooth with a quick smooth aggression. You lost seconds on the GT350R based on driving techniques you used. Same for the C8. Every time you make needless aggressive moves, you upset the car “set” and balance on the course. Tire pressures are different than track days. I have champion experience in solo and Solo II. Loved the video. Always like your channel content.

You are so right. Whenever I watch a more experienced driver in a battle with less experienced drivers, the thing I notice the most is how relaxed the more experienced drivers are. I get too excited when I'm about to overtake or think I see a chance, the adrenaline gets the better of me and I end up losing time. You really need Jedi like nerves of steel and to empty your mind in order to get the car to perform its best lol

You that's what makes you so cool you actually drive your Vette. That's what you post to do learn your and they like to be be driven not babied. I'm glad you realized that they are amazing cars but will throw ya for a loop some times. Mine did many times always right when i got comfortable with it. I even drove mine in snow and got really stuck took me like a hour but I got out and made it back home I went in reverse till I got to a main road there was like 12 inches of snow that day.

Which were both of your cars lap times? How did they compared with the Camaro ZL1 & SS1LE that were present in the event? Thanks for this video, many of us were waiting for this one, and we would be waiting for a longer track comparison 😀

Ah, autocross!!! SO intense compared to track events, at least for that minute or so. Taught me a bunch about car control that transferred straight to the track. And kudos for not posting the times between the two cars: tires make such a HUGE difference! The 350R's Cup 2 tires should lay waste to anything the Advans put up. And kudos for your award, you're definitely one of the top influencers in this pastime of ours!

My first car 50 years ago was a 1967 Mustang Convertible and I’ve owned several over the years so I have a sentimental attachment to them but I’d take the C8 over any mustang, any year, every time.

Austin next time you go to an Auto x event try to get there early and walk the course a few times to commit to memory Then close your eyes and go through the course in your head. When you drive, it will be much easier to drive fast and feel comfortable. Did the organizers post the results on line? if so would you post a link. thanks

did autocross with a crown vic. Absolutely a blast. I could use 100% of the car all the time. Half way through a turn i could floor it and the car would come out nicely. Only like 260hp so u can use it all. I completely get the lower horsepower reason! Using 100% of the car is more fun than using 70% because its uncontrollable and you're scared shitless.

And it's only riding on 245 front tires....the 350R, which is about the same weight, has 305 up front. Imagine the C8 with a larger tire up front.

That’s funny, I thought the GT350 looked much easier to control and not as many input steering corrections to correct minimal understeer of the C8.

It is designed for tracks unlike Mustangs that are designed as a cruiser.

the 350R got car and driver top 20 cars of all time. OF ALL TIME. those that haven't driven one, don't truly know how good this car is. its Fn' awesome. I like the C8 too, but ill need the z06 version of it.

Yes, you should have gotten the base model :) timeless is right. no outdated screen in 10 years. They only made less than 200 base cars. I have one, just like yours in a base model.

IMO I love high revving engines. I wish the corvette had a more modern DOHC like 95% of sports cars around the world. If the c8 had that it would be great. dont get mad its just what I like.

Both cars did have the manufacturer suggested track camber settings.

A better comparison would be the new Camaro ZL1 1LE or even the less expensive SS 1LE. They will be in the same price range and both Muscle Cars with back seats. The Vette (2 seat) ZR1 will be nearly twice the cost of both the cars I mentioned and in a different category of cars. The C8 zr1 needs to be compared to the Super Exotics like Porsche, McLaren, etc. That's really what it's trying to complete against.

Adding AC to a GT350R will make it perform worse. Do weight reduction to the C8, add carbon fiber rims and it will slay super cars in the track.

No way Chevy would allow that. The GT will murder that c8 every second the wheels are turning. But you are correct in that the c8 is supposed to be an exotic with McLaren, Porsche, Lamborghini and the GT
