My grandfather Thought there was nothing better than a CB Radio! The base station was on 24 /7 ! They were in every one of his vehicles! He was the man if someone needed help with their radio or setup...
You did a good job. With the wire connectors you bought, you don't need to Strip the ends. You placed a wires inside the connectors and then squeezed the metal Piece down, and it connects to wires for you.
It's nice to have a CB in case something ever happens and cell phones go down . I haven't used one in years . My buddies 70's Trans Am came factory with a CB you don't see that anymore .
My first husband was a CB'er. I don't know what kind he had but he had the big, ol' whip on the car, too. I was always too nervous to talk on air. Nice truck!
Super cool. My step dad use to drive trucks years ago, we use love listening to the conversations over the CB. I don't remember his handle. Great demonstration! The only thing I've ever installed in a car are the power window switches...I learned off of you tube, lol.
Great instructional video. That’s the same thing I did my dodge back in 2000. The CB still works great as does the truck. Gas and go, oil change regular and you’ll be fine
Great video. Pro tip - you can switch the fuse for that power outlet to turn off with the truck. If you look at the fuse under the hood just slide it over.
xm4214229 dad's ol handle back in the 60's 70's.. the hourssss we would spend on the base unit at home talking with the truckers... then in the car.. getting the low down on where the cops or traffic issues were..was quite the tech back in the day as per communication. can see how it would still be convenient
Breaker breaker 19 Smokey has Momma bear and her cubs out collecting green stamps ,east bound and down loaded up and trucking! back in the day my CB handle Number 1 Sundown , boy did I have fun, those days are gone, take care
Nice job but does the metal bracket need to be grounded? (Years ago... we sheet metal screwed em into the bottom of a metal square body chevy dash, these new trucks are all plastic). I haven't put mine in my new truck yet as I was curious to the bracket grounding. I like how you've done that, how does the velcro hold with rough roads? (Vid is 2 yrs old, updates?)
It works ok. The Velcro makes for ease of “hiding” it when away from the truck. If you drive easy no issues. For 4wheel off road you would want more secure attachments for sure
Great video. I had a CB in the same spot on my 08. Have a 2019 now, I like your idea though I am a welder fabricator so I might try to make a custom bracket to go in the business tray screw holes. Did you mention where you’re hooking up the antenna? I might have missed it
*I've been wanting to install a CB in My Truck since 2021. The Dam Tonneau Cover has Drove me NUTs thinking How am I going to Attach the Antenna. Today I'm having a Custom Bracket Made.*
Thanks for the video, I got a question, i have a 2020 tradesman as well and I saw that you removed the passenger seat from your truck. How did you by pass the airbag connector without having the airbag code come up on your dash? I removed my seat but I have the damn airbag fault light on my dash.
Curious why you stripped the wire before you inserted it into the connector? Those are designed to pierce the insulation. No stripping necessary. Pretty good idea pulling power from that 12v outlet. I'm going to do the same on my 2020 3500.
Well then….per the instruction sticker on my president radio, I attached directly to the battery and when I key up I get an accelerator code. Luckily I have a scan tool that will erase and reset . I am going to try your method to see if it eliminates this code from occurring again. My truck is a 2018 big horn 1500
@@ArkansasWoodcutter unfortunately that method did not work. After doing more research on some Ram forums I found that my “Pedal Commander” like accessory was the culprit. The cb causes some interference with it causing that code. Solution for time being, remove above said accessory and have trouble free cb usage.
I wanted to mount in the console area low. I was in a crunch for time when I did this thus the mounting location. There is room in my truck (base tradesman 2020) to go hands reach low.
@@ArkansasWoodcutter I’m still unsure. Once I get it installed I’ll post up a video. I’ve always been Old School with a Cobra Radio. Same one you have actually, but I’m thinking about getting a Modded Stryker 955. It always been on my wish list. I’m not sure if it’s worth the extra money or just a hype.
Get a little we from one of your truck stops I found my CB and my antenna set up and I loves truckstop it’s a magnetic base little antenna and then just route to court either through your back glass or under your driver seat up to them of the box
Not gonna work for my 2013 1500 big horn, my dash is slightly different, I can make it work, just won’t be as nice as yours, but I’m here in southern nevada where it gets hot, any ideas on how to protect the radio on the dash?
I’d toss that CB and go with a 2m/70cm radio. Your range on 11m is only a few miles. On 2m I can reach out 40 miles to a repeater without issue. I mounted my Yeasu FTM-400 right in the center console & tapped right into the power and ran the antenna through the back of the console and under the back mats though the back. Hitting a C4FM repeater you can talk globally if your on Fusion/ Wires X. Upgrade that CB and you’ll never look back. Your mileage may very. 73.
@@ArkansasWoodcutter oh, I’m an idiot lol. I was thinking it would be hard to run it. Great job on video I’m doing it to my 2020 Dodge Ram. Keep up great work I’m following you now! Nice to meet you and thanks for responding
Brian F I mounted rear center and came through the weather strip under the driver seat up the console when I get the truck back from the custom work being done I’ll try and add that in.
I don't mean b rude but it not good put it in the sun or where heat is blowing I really like video's I use to have a woodmizer I been a ham over 30 years N bin in cb since I wus 12 so 45 years
Arkansas Woodcutter I think we are going to try a stem cell transplant. Next step is to get the right donor. It will be a long rough road but we are praying for strength and grace. ❤️
Just want to warn people that do this . That radio will fly off in a accident and crack you or family members on the head at a very high speed. Also if wires are showing? Not enough thought went into it. I have to figure out how to install one in my 13 longhorn. Thx…. We’ll done
