Probably the most informative and detailed auto review I've ever seen. You definitely influenced me to purchase the EcoSport, I picked mine up today. Excellent job, sir.... others should take notes.
Really good real world review... good job! I think the length was fine as it gave a good feel for the noise level, bumps, acceleration, etc. I'm considering the AWD version with the 2.0 engine, but trying to find info on how it does going up/down hills in snow. Wish it had a AWD lock mode, like Subaru, but I hate CVT's and turbo engines are just not as durable as a non-turbo. The Ecosport is one of the few new cars that is pretty simplistic and should hopefully be reliable and easy to service for the long term.
Thanks for the feedback Twila! As with any vehicle, AWD or not, it would be recommended to have winter tires for better traction in snowy conditions. I had the chance to drive one last winter and even without winter tires it handled nicely in the snow.
@@thunderroad7289 I was wondering about that! I'm waiting for us to get a few snowy days and I'm going to take a few of these things for a spin. What trim do you have?
Ok, i travel all over Florida with this vehicle, i have the 1.0 3cyclended turbo. The car is plenty of fast, and has very good passing power. Very good cruiser and cheap to fill up. Also handling is fun. 😊😊😊
On Nov 29, after getting gas, I reset the trip odometer and the MPG odometer, I was previously averaging 21 MPG before the reset, but as of Dec 6 I'm averaging 28 MPG. The tank lasts me over a week with light to moderate driving.
Drove a 1999 Mazda Protege with a 104 HP for years. Anything would be an improvement over that (and really - I had no issue with it in freeway driving). They have a huge rebate in the US on this car - $5,750 for the S and SE and $6,250 for the Titanium and SES. I'm seriously considering an SE or Titanium with the 1.0 just for an around town commuter with a bit of highway driving now and then.
I have a friend who had that car when we were in school! Gets you from A to B but you would definitely notice the difference between the 2 engines. I'd suggest test driving both engines so you can get a feel for what you like better!
@@CarsWithSteve Even with COVID on the rampage in California I am going to do to several dealers in the Sacramento area and test drive both the 1.0 turbo and the 2.0 before this month is over (and the rebates expire).
Can you use Android with the phone set up?I am buying an 4x4 ecosport this week. Very comfortable and I am 300lbs. So it definitely is for a bigger person as well. 😊
If you have the larger Sync3 - similar to the one in this video, you can use both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto using USB. Glad you found the ride comfortable, hope you enjoy it!
@@CarsWithSteve Thx for your reply. I am pretty excited about the upcoming Ford Maverick truck coming soon. I drive a 2016 Ford F150 super crew and it's been a pretty good truck it's been fairly reliable especially with a V8 under the hood. CHEERS 🍻
@@andregonsalvez9244 I saw some leaked photos and specs for the Maverick and it's looking pretty good! Good to know your '16 v8 is still treating you well!
I weight 270ib and the 2020 ecosport se I got has really comfortable seats. No issues. I do find it interesting that my ecosport came with a few features, that the ecosport on the video had. Like the blind spot indicator, but instead of that it had a second mirror on the corner for a wider view. And the nav map didnt show up unless I plugged my phone to use google maps.
Thanks for the great feedback Jesus! This EcoSport has the added SE Convenience Package which gives it the Sync3 screen and the sunroof. It is nice that you're able to use Google Maps through that middle screen. Curious, how long have you had your EcoSport for?
@@CarsWithSteve only a couple months. The thing is that my Ecosport Se has the big screen like in the one from the video and a full sunroof. I can also use the MyFord pass app to sync up the phone to the car through bluetooth and physical connection.
@@ElVejigante Oh interesting.. so you've got those same features but it's missing factory navigation? Good to hear that you're enjoying the car so far though!
Glad you enjoyed the video! I'm a bit surprised about the mileage as well. If you're more of a commuter I'd recommend taking a look at the Escape SE or the Escape Hybrid depending on your budget
@@CarsWithSteve I was surprised too. That's a majority of complaints on RU-vid that the gas mileage could be a lot better. Its worse with the 2.0 engine obviously at 23 in the city and 27 on the highway.
@@CarsWithSteve I do find the fuel mileage could be better, but it still lasts me a week on a full tank since a majority of times I go to work and back and maybe run a few small errands here and there. I can't complain. Its about $40 on a full tank.
Very approachable, in depth review. Love it. One huge tip is for you to try to shorten the length of the video. sum it up to under 10 minutes if possible. Sub'D!
Thanks for the feedback Joseph! I've been thinking of shooting a shorter version that's more of a highlight reel so it's good to know that type of video would work. Keep an eye out on future videos, I'm going to shout you out for the recommendation!
I got the SE trim on May 10, but it didn't have the BLIS, but with blind spot mirrors. I have it in smoke metallic with 2182 miles only since it was a rental and people test drove it and didn't like it and went for something else.
You'd need to have the SE Convenience Package to get the blind spot system in the EcoSport. You could try to get it wired aftermarket but the cost wouldn't make sense unfortunately. Hopefully you were able to get a great deal on the car though!
@@CarsWithSteve Since the car had such low mileage, it was practically new. I took it a little over a month ago for its first oil change under me. I went to the dealer and I took it before it hit 2900 miles and plus, the Ford App told it me was at 13% oil life and I told them and they changed it hassle free.
@@CarsWithSteve My car also doesn't have built in navigation, but it does have the 8 inch touch screen. I just use my phone for navigation when I need to get somewhere and I don't know where it is.
Haha buying used is definitely a good strategy that some car owners use. I've heard of people finding some pretty great deals buying used vehicles that were daily rentals! What do you think your next car would be?
@@bluesky5384 Agreed! Unless it's a rare or exotic car that will appreciate... Buying used is definitely beneficial as long as the car has a good service history or you've got a good mechanic. I find a lot of people just don't maintain their cars properly
I don't get how my ford escape 2012 xlt 4wd consumes less gass then this 2020 ford ecosport se.. Kind of bummed out. I got fooled by the name of this vehicule. Calling it ECOsport really played with me. Thinking that by buying the lower end small SUV that I would save money on gas. Not the case... I Wasn't expecting to buy this vehicule so I didn't get the chance to find out more on this vehicule. Totally my fault but at a quick glance at the website, I really found it misleading as well. They have on the front page a certain consumption indicated for the SE Model but what the show you is for the front wheel drive version. That throwed me off because for the 4wd version it consumes even more & It is not was is shown on the main page for the Se Models..
So if you look at the fuel consumption ratings of each engine: 2012 Explorer AWD (3.5L V6) - 12.5/8.8 L/100km or an 10.7 L/100km average 2020 EcoSport AWD (2L V4)- 10.2/8.1 L/100km or a 9.2 L/100km average The Explorer is technically rated as more fuel efficient but it's interesting that your real world test is saying otherwise. Curious if you drove the same route under same conditions what the trip counters on each would say
@@CarsWithSteve thanks for the Reply! For sure I didn't get into specifics but the engine for the ford escape 2013 XLT 4wd was the 2.5L 4cylinders. I do mostly 40km on highway 5days a week. I just really though I was getting something more ECOnomic 😅. Honestly I did not bother comparing specs beetween the 2 cars only because I assumed that a 2020 vehicle with today's technology would be by default more efficient. I thought that my escape was really a high fuel consuming car & that there couldn't be worst.. my fault
The Ecoboost is affordable so maybe being slow wouldn't be so bad. No one is going to buy one for power. I saw one that was $20.000. A black 2021. For that price they are decent.
@@trr5291 Very true. I've seen them around that price point in Canada as well. Brand new 1.5 year old se model that a dealer was trying to blow out. Great price compared to other things on the market
Hey Richard, in the North American market it doesn't come as an option on any trim level unfortunately. There are some after market systems that you could look at adding in though
You mean the 1.0L power house 😋 lol - would agree with you there. If you're just going A to B it's ok but would look at an Escape or Bronco Sport 2.0 instead
@@CarsWithSteve yeah, I’ve seen them mounted on the trunk door but it’s not very nice looking. I was considering an Ecosport but that was the dealbreaker for me. It’s one of the reasons why I like Hyundais.
That’s why it’s nice there are so many options on the market. Haven’t looked at reviewing Hyundai’s just yet but I’ll add it to the list of ones to look into
