2020 Golden Globe award nominations announced

It’s the official kick-off to start the awards season: The Golden Globes. The nominees for the 2020 award ceremony were revealed live from Los Angeles on Dec. 9, with celebrity presenters Dakota Fanning, Tim Allen and Susan Kelechi Watson announcing this year’s nominees.
Ricky Gervais is set to host the Golden Globes ceremony once again. The ceremony will air live from The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Jan. 5, 2020.

Robert De Niro and Willem Dafoe are 2 big surprises for me. I thought Willem Dafoe atleast would get nominated. But it's a good selection nonetheless and I wouldn't complain much especially for including Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett. I think both Bale and Blanchett were simply amazing for what the film demanded.

I´m happy that Pesci and Pitt got the supporting nom, but Pacino should´ve never been there. Still haven´t seen The Lighthouse so I can´t state whether Dafoe should´ve got it or not but Pacino just got the check, even though he´s one of my fave actors ever.

I saw both movies and, to be honest, I did not find The Irishman to be such a masterpiece. It´s a very good film with great directing and superb performances by Pesci and De Niro, but it´s not the new Godfather as many consider it.

@Diego Pisfil agree to disagree. While Pattinson was good, plenty deemed Banderas to be performance of his career. Before the globes announcement, the four supposed locked for best actor were Driver, Phoenix, Banderas n Deniro. Until Deniro got snubbed of course

Critics choice was pretty much predictable except for Adam Sandler nomination but GG just threw it all out the window: 1) No Robert deniro for best actor despite people saying he is locked for this 2) Todd Phillips over Noah Baumbach for Best Director 3) No Parasite for best picture 4) Not really a shock but no double nom for ScarJo 5) Lion King in animated feature? 6) Two Pope's getting more love here

I am hoping that Knives Out wins the Musical or Comedy sections, Joker wins the sections that it’s in including Best Drama Film, Tom Hanks wins Best Supporting Actor for a Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Rocketman wins other awards they are nominated in, Paul Rudd wins Best Actor in a TV series for Living With Yourself and Toy Story 4 wins Best Animated Film. The Golden Globe has done justice to "The Two Popes", naming the film Best Picture, Actor, Supporting Actor and Screenplay. I was surprised by the nomination of Cristian Bale, as Ford x Ferrari was not nominated for anything else. Another surprise was the nomination of Cate Blachent, I had bet on her, but I gave up thinking that she would not be nominated, but congratulations to her. And Kathy Bates's nomination confirms that she's growing up this awards season.
