Stats didnt build Robo for the first 2 games, just gateway units are hard to play, once he got disruptors and colossus he can just zone and back door with zealots.
I think that Zoun has been largely responsible for doube Robo play from protoss. He has been building a lot of Colossus and disruptors and doing very well with them. Previously most protoss would build one Robo and keep making Immortals. But now many are making two and pumping out disruptors and Colossus to great effect
He was supposed to win game 2, but made lame mistake. Game 5 he won with gateway storm units (his 2 collosi didnt make it to the fight) so i wouldnt call gateways as bad as you call it. Have to abuse chokepoints but same applys to disruptor collosus maybe storms do need nore chokes.
to be fair, there are legit adept builds which kill people. (but then, there are legit hellbat builds also, there are no legit reaper builds, blizzard killed them)
@@christopherneedham9584 Certain units just are not made late game. Adepts are indeed one of them as are Reapers. Zerg seems to be the only race where you can see any unit in late game.
Adepts are more like roaches. Both scale poorly, but they still have use in the mid-game in certain scenarios. Some strategies lean on them quite heavily. Not quite like a reaper or two, a couple hellions, which you throw away before the mid-game and never replace. Before LOTV hellions were used more like roaches and adepts, where Terran would build quite a few early on. Though since Legacy, we just don't see it any longer. The pace of the game picks up too quickly.
Stats is the best example of how a protoss should play, he almost never cheeses yet manages to win at the top level. So if any protoss wants to improve on ladder then stats is your guide to it.
@@mikechan2942 Imba units like: Zealots, Colossi, Stalkers, Oracles, Disruptors, Adepts, Sentries, High Templar, Dark Templar, and Archons? He used like 2/3rds of the protoss arsenal, everything except skytoss and immortals, is it all imba?
@@mikechan2942 Look at widow mine drops killing 10 workers at 4min even at DRG's level and tell me disruptor isn't the same thing. Until you accept that sc2 is specifically about the power units, anger will be in the way of laddering up
Yeah, if I weren't protoss and faced it often I'd probably hate them with the same passion I hate widow mine harasses. Take your eyes away for 1-2seconds and BAM 10-20 supply gone
I wonder if the reason Stats didnt open collosus is because terran open raven so often. he was trying to counter the meta. Stats vs Maru he opened high templars with collossus. maybe he tried leaning even harder to counter it.
I feel like Stats has been very inconsistent the last couple of seasons, which is kinda ironic considering he's known for being a rock-solid macro Protoss. Good show regardless, I love seeing Stats do well, I feel like he's one of the few players playing "honest" Protoss.
@@Dman40000 Banelings are the Zerg equivalent. They're really slow so you can see them coming. But you can using them to quickly kill a Planetary Fortress and all the SVCs around it. I think Widow mines are the best of the 3 because it's harder to avoid once locked on, works on air, cheap, and you get them early on.
Damn inno. Thought you had it. Why wait for colossus and disruptors and storm to finish and your counter is a stupid emp that doesn't kill. Go for early mid game finishes. Unless you are Maru then don't bother going late game tvp.
Yeah I don't think anyone except Maru can play late game TvP at this level. It's not worth it to even try. You might go for it once in a series just so that your opponent is not 100% about what you're doing, but otherwise you're just not supposed to win it.
@@ChangBaek your are right, but that doesn't mean diruptor is not OP, it only means you have to play N times better than your toss oponent, so if you have 2 players at the same level the one who plays toss will always win, since it's been carried by the OP units
@@ChangBaek You're basically admitting that all Terran players need the micro of Maru and TY to deal with disrupters. Even INnoVation could not handle it. Doesn't it strike to you that all Terrans below their level ought to be struggling?
yeah i really feel like him going gateway build instead of robo build was basically trolling the first 2 games and then the following 3 games he played normally... feels a bit BM towards innovation

@@N0noy1989 Old innovation would absolutely destroy everyone right now, if this shaky boomer version of innovation can get top4, top8, top8 inno at his peak would be as dominant as he was before, innovation at his peak was absolutely insane, perfect play almost from start to finish but unfortunately things dont work like that he is not the player he used to be, same with zest, soO or sos (even tho for sos it's way worse considering how hard he has fallen). Maru is the best terran of modern times, Trap and Stats the best protoss of modern times, rogue reynor and serral the best zergs.
Innovation isn’t bad. He smashed Rogue and Dark and eat them for breakfast which I doubt any other Terran can. Look at his TvZ win rate, it’s madness. It’s just every Terran struggles against Protoss in this meta, it’s not his fault.
@@ChangBaek don't think he meant it literally. More like "I'll use this experimental strats first" and then when it's not working out he just went back to his usual thing. More like having practice rounds with Inno then Stats just went serious mode. Can't see Inno beating Stats if Stats don't do weird build. Stats is like the old Innovation in that sense I guess
na, Stats just needed to use robo, terran can't do shit against robo, the only chance a terran has is to be mechanically superior, army to army toss will have the advantage
Terran tanks and marines push is really imba. Just look how Innovation won 2 games in a row with the same attack. Disruptors is the only way to be safe against this type of attack, if you can control them properly
Stats should have lost game 4 hands down. The fact that stats had that many zealots running around and was still manhandling Inno's main army all while Inno had more army supply shows how imba Protoss is. It needs a complete overhaul to be balanced. Game 5 was the only game Stats truly deserved because he outplayed Inno in that one, and even then it was mainly due to those freaking Oracles casting Revelation everywhere. One non-skill unit should not shut down an entire player's strategy.... Sorry you lost Inno. Maybe Blizzard will balance the Protoss cheese someday.
There's always someone saying that either zerg is op or terran is op or protoss is op ( even though protoss haven't won a gsl for the last 4 years) but anyway, I truly wonder what kind of people just constantly cry about faction balance...

I always find people who complain about balance to be very amusing. I mean, imagine if during the middle ages in europe the first time someone saw a trebuchet and their first reaction was to complain about it to God saying that the weapon is IMBA and should be nerfed.
it doesn't make sense, a game between 2 players should not be advantageous to either in order to be fair play, this is about the better gamer not the better race/units, i think balance whining is part of SC2 just like in any sport you have to put emotion in it, but to a degree i mean i don't support throwing punches at anyone or you know calling names to someone, but i don't mind calling names at protoss/terran/zerg i actually think is fun

So GSL = gold league on the NA server? Can't put down a force field, randomly get your armies killed, waste 30 supply trying to kill a planetary and fail. It's like stats was half on tinder or something
Honestly sometimes I feel that way, and then I look at their supply at the 6-8-10-12 minute marks and realize it's the same as gold but everything is about 70% faster. Like they max out quiiiiick af, while countering, harassing, and having main army engagement
