Let’s be real: Most of the fine folks perusing the countless pages of the autoTRADER.ca marketplace looking at pickup trucks probably don’t actually need one. Maybe you’re one of them - and there’s nothing wrong with that. These days, they’re lifestyle vehicles more than anything else and make fewer compromises than ever before. And in that way, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator may be the perfect pickup truck.

Bought mine a week ago from a dealer in Toronto, they were selling them for 15k under sticker price just to clear the 2020 and mine is a totally loaded overland listed for $61505.... do the math ,added a 2.5 lift 35 inch tires and rock rails done and done !!

I've seen some ridiculous prices on these things. I bought a Sport S with max tow in Gator green for 36K last week. Has the 7" screen, 8 speed auto and power everything. All I did was throw on some 33" Falkens and ordered some step rails/rock sliders. I don't get spending 50+ on it

Paid $39K (before taxes) for my 21 Gladiator Willys (6MT) that MSRP'd slightly over $43K. I don't consider that 'ridiculous' in today's market. They aren't all $63K...

I wish Jeep would offer a model with a rear electronic locker. Don't need a Rubicon front locker or crawler tansfer case , or shocks to jump from the Mojave. Th e Willys would be perfect with a rear locker.

I own a Sport S with max tow and 4.10 gearing. Ive owned many jeeps including a GC ZJ from 1993, which I still have in the garage. The gladiator is a cool truck. It feels like my JKU and my tacoma put together. The gladiator has the towing capacity, the solid axles, simple design and some really great electronics and media. It took me a year of looking around and really understanding what I needed and wanted, and the gladiator satisfies both. Great job FCA and Jeep engineers. Keep me posted once you guys make it full time electric and I'll buy another! ( Go speak with Elon about some battery tech, better things happen when we all work teogther!)

20’ Sport owner. Paid a tick over 46k cdn for a loaded Sport and the dealer added take off Rubicon wheels/tires/suspension. Its not a major hit in the wallet if you know when and where to buy. Love mine and brother loves his JL sport.
@CSLFiero
@CSLFiero 4 года назад
People are calling it a failure for selling 4 times less than the Tacoma.. nevermind that the average Tacoma rolls off the dealer lot at around 23k and less than 5k profit margin and the average gladiator rolls off north of 55k with 14k of profit margin. The gladiator is already a massive success.

Why do all the reviewers buy into the claim that the window contols couldn't be mounted on the doors because the doors are removable? Power is still running to the doors to operate the window motors. So, it should be entirely possible to place electrical switches in the door as well. At most you need a simple device to shut off or cover the hot contact in the frame when the door is removed. Outdoor AC outlets have an always hot side and are exposed to the weather. I still have switches on everything I plug into them even though my devices aren't permanently bolted to the house.

True about the Rubicon......I actually own a 2016 jku Rubicon hard rock...funny thing is I DO go off roading and bury it up to the frame in mud. I only wish I had known of the Gladiator at the time I bought my jku.....I would have waited. Yes you could get a USED ford....its a ford!!!!! But the roof and doors are not removable.....and the Rubicon is the most capable off road vehicle out the door of the dealership. It may be owned by Fiat but ITS NOT A FIAT.

It’s a great off road midsizer, but yeah as far as a work truck it’s lacking. Maybe they could offer a cheaper work truck model with 2wd, a 6.5 ft bed and extended cab option. Personally I’d like to see the Dakota return but that’s probably not going to happen.

I think the location of the power window switches is rediculous. Yes the doors are removeable. But if you take the doors off, why do you need the power window switch at all. So not keeping the window switch with the door and window was a big miss in my mind for FCA.
@boberwin583
@boberwin583 3 года назад
@@LG-bn9gu Sorry but that doesn't make sense. There are still wires that go to the doors to supply power to the window motors. There are also wires for the power door locks. If you take the doors off, then the switch stays with the doors and windows.

@@LG-bn9gu I never trust any first gen engine. That is why I bought the 2016 Colorado with gas rather than diesel. The diesel had just been released, but the timing belt worried me. So far, every diesel owner I have heard from loves it. By later 2021, I will decide if I go Gladiator, Ram or GMC AT4. Each will have enough time on their Diesel to make a good comparison. Currenlty I am leaning toward the AT4, but not wild about lack of lockers.

@RKmndo 3 года назад
Yeah. A lot of people do. If you bump up to 33s or 35s with the 3.73s/4.10s from a Sport S Max Tow pkg, it's like stock tires with std gearing. The 2.72:1 4low provides enough pull for a nasty boat ramp.
@vegasxventures
@vegasxventures 4 года назад
You can’t add add disconnecting sway bars, locking diffs, armor everywhere, 33’ tires with 4.10 gearing and still save over any other trim. Sorry, you are just wrong. You said.... it’s a lifestyle vehicle you either get it or you don’t.
@AssMcBlast
@AssMcBlast 4 года назад
You're saying that all that stuff will be pretty expensive to upgrade after the fact?
@RKmndo
@RKmndo 3 года назад
@@AssMcBlast I didn't understand that either. Anti-swaybar discos can be fabbed for cheap. Lunchbox lockers can be pretty cheap too. Bump to 35s when you wear out the stock tires, or sell the stockers to recoup some $. If one can comfortably afford a Sport S Max Tow, the mentioned mods seem cheap. Then you have a midsized pickup that can tow over 7K lb, haul lumber/sheets/pipe/conduit/tools/dirtbikes, handle rough terrain, and convert to open air.

stop ya'lls bitching and wait a year. i'm checking these out now and there are plenty of 2020 models they are trying to move for WELL under 60K (i see some for 48K). and they all have the leather trimmed seats, tow package, cold group package, LED light package, the radio/premium audio group, safety group and adaptive cruise control, remote proximity key entry, spray-in bedliner, body-colored hard top, and polished black aluminum wheels. i'm in washington (state) and one dealer has a rubicon with those exact specs for 11K under MSRP (yes i know you dont start negotiating from the MRSP but 11K under MSRP is pretty damn good as a starting point)

Buy a Sport. Add lockers, 4 or 5 to 1 tcase gearset, and tires/gears. I wouldn't even bother with tcase gearing though. The base 2.72:1 is pretty low already. A winch, appropriate tires, lockers, armor, and skills are WAY better to have than 4:1 tcase gearing...IMO.

It'd be nice if Jeep could improve reliability, but the Wrangler/Gladiator have no competition in North America. They're niche vehicles, being convertible 4WDs. Hopefully, the new Ford Bronco will make them up their game. Toyota could have cleaned house if the FJ or 4Runner were still convertibles. There will always be "Murika" buyers, but I just want a reliable and fun 4WD that I can afford to own...like a Jimny.
