I have the same bike and color, love it bought it 2 months ago, has aftermarket graves exhaust, sprint race filter, tuned my Chris moore mafia 😈 I recommend getting fixed the quick shifter (makes the bike shift like butter, upshift and downshift) mine is lowered about 1.5 inches absolutely love the bike

I took my '19 Ninja 650 to the dealer for the 600 mile oil change, 1st service, yeah it's more money, but I got 30% off being that I bought the bike from them... They also go through everything make sure all bolts and screws are tight and that nothing wiggled loose, adjusted and lubed chain etc etc, so it wasn't that bad. I started cleaning and lubing the chain myself and I just picked up stuff to do my own oil change... I went to AutoZone grabbed the cup style thingy to get the oil filter off, it's a size 66/67mm - 14 flute. Fits on it perfectly, my filter from Kawasaki is a Y28. It has the square in the middle to fit the torgue wrench head. So I'll torgue it to spec. went full synthetic now that it has 2600 miles...I bought the Kawi oil too, I may stick with it, but was also told I can use be c ANY good brand, doesn't have to be actual Kawasaki oil .so maybe Motul for the next one?? Idk, I'm planning on doing it tomorrow, I know I'm a bit early, but I'd go rather just do it, it's only the 2nd oil change.

Those first oil filters are always tighter than hell. Love the new bike, miss mine. Hopefully a little speed is all ya need to cure your down-ness, I know it always worked for me!

Hey talon! Theres a socket for those 20 sided (or however many sides) filters it's impossible on my truck without one. Stick with the OEM just my 2 cents. Glad you got a sport bike man I'm in love with my cbr1000rr

Bike is hot!!! I have a new ZX-6R coming up on it's 600mile service. Dealership wants $200. Debating if it's worth it, being that I can change the oil myself. Dying to ride a ZX-10r to see if it's worth me upgrading eventually. I previously owned a Ninja 1000 but the ZX-6R is lighter and for some reason just more fun to ride. But the ZX-10R is their flagship bike... So I'm itching to ride one. Keep the vids coming!

Factories put those oil filters on dry, and likely overtorque. Doesn't matter the brand. It's less of a problem if the filter has a flat seal instead of an O-ring seal.

I had a M4 street slayer for my 08 zx10r and it make my bike run like dog shit!!! I tried different tunes and nothing so I put my two brothers back on an now it’s scary fast again. Hopefully you have better luck

Everyone has their own thing for oil changes. Have friends that go w motul full synthetic. I go with OEM conventional oil since I change every 1500 miles. Also, if you go conventional, Amazon has good oil change kits w OEM stuff at great price.

How did the oil look ? I wonder what the filter caught.couldnt see the bubble properly,should it be to the top of it ?

Future reference make sure you prime your filter so your not starving your engine for oil. Just fill up the filter with oil prior to installation and your good to go

Broooooooo... I picked up a barely used 2015 Ninja 300 2 years ago with less than 100 miles. I did the first oil change and I mangled the crap out of the factory oil filter with screw drivers and channel locks trying to get this thing off!

oil filters get tighter over time hence the small ft lbs for torque specs

Did you tighten down the oil filter by hand? Is that enough you think to get 13 ft/lbs torqued down? Also, where should the oil be at within the sight glass? Completely full or midway?

hey Talon nice bike I like it. If you google oil filter wrench you should be able to find the right tool for the tighten loosen you want also if you pure new oil into the new filter before you put it on when you start the bike up after the change the filter already has some oil to protect the engine with it's not a 100% must but a very popular trick a lot of people like to do anyway enjoy your riding as i will enjoy watching all your moto vlogs.

Don’t torque the oil filter, whether it’s a car or bike. Hand tight is enough. I like the Mazda factory ones, the gasket comes pre greased. Probably better than oiling it, as the grease stays put and probably keeps a better seal over time.

Filter will be tight no matter what. I do mine hand tight and they still barely come off at oil change.

I recently picked up the same bike, only at 200 miles of my break in. when you installed the M4 exhaust did you just take off the cables from the servo or did you get a servo buddy and remove the entire servo?

Wouldn't the oil change be free if you took it in since it's still under warranty?

Don't get the filters with the nut, they have crap welds. One started leaking from the nut itself and dumped my oil all over the rear tire

You should us Kaw oil because that oil is specially formulated for the wet clutches hence the $$$

Go with K&N filters. They have the nut in the front. I use it on my CBR. Saturday I’ll be picking up my 2020 zx10r. I’m probably going to go with K&N oil and oil filter. Kawasaki just recommends their shit, so they make more money. As long as you put full synthetic good brand oil, you'll be fine.

Factory filters are always tight. Machines put them on.

Couple little pieces of advice. You should always check the old oil. It will give you good insight into how the engine is wearing. Always wipe down the oil pan and filter area before installing your hardware. Use oil or assembly grease on the filter gasket/O-Ring. Prime your filter with at least a bit of fresh oil to prevent air getting trapped and dry starts. Lasty, those K&N filters with the hexhead on the top are not for installation. If you use them to torque it down, it will often ruin the rivets/spotwelds and leak for the duration of the oil change. They are there for easy removal, because it doesn't matter if you ruin the filter on the way off. Overall great video 👌

Listen from a bike guy, those K&N filters with the nut are a HUGE risk. The spot weld way the nut is attached to the filter weakens the filter housing causing pressurized oil leaks that drip onto the back tire. I know normal filters suck but don't get caught up a K&N nut oil filter.

Did you buy it out right?? Cause if you didn’t you should really do the first oil change by the dealer if not you void the factory warranty. Just in case

Talon Sei, I'm a little late to the comments but next time go to Advance Auto and grab a oil filter cap wrench that slides right over the filter. It has a cut out for your standard socket wrench. At least I think that's the name of the wrench. It'll come off with ease. Great video though!!!

Invest in a set of bike stands makes it way easier you don’t need to lay on the ground you can just sit Indian style makes it 100 times easier. I take my belly pans off to do mine and I took an old car license plate and kinda made it in to a u shape so it takes the shape of the oil filter and that way when you take filer off the oil runs down the license plate over the headers and into the drain pain

Do not use the bolt on the oil filter to torque it down. They are tack welded in place and you will cause it to leak. It is only for removal!!!

dude, whoever at the factory putting these filters on is a fkn a$$hole! My new ZH2 took me 5 hours and completely destroyed my filter and crumpled like a beer can. I tried the belt trick, oil filter wrench, screwdriver through the side (every side until there was no more remaining surface area to try), and just ended up peeling open the entire filter and used a dremel... unreal man

get bike stands...will make this maintenance much easier
