Hey everyone, this is the 2020 Luigi Melee Techs Guide.
It's been a while, but its now finally here! The 2020 Melee Guides are 29 projects, meant to document as much Melee techniques into video form while being generally enjoyable videos to watch.
Special shoutouts to the Smash@Stockton and NJ SSBM scenes! Without them, I probably would not have had the drive to want to finish these guides.

As a Luigi main yes we can whip out misfires at will for in order to perform misfires you must become a true main.

Can confirm the "misfire at will" rumor. However, we Luigi mains like to throw for the bit, so we often use it at seemingly random times "for the funny"

Thanks man! I like Luigi because he is super fun. And I have been a Luigi main ever since 1/8/21. And I had the game since, I think May of 2020. And I was struggling to find a main... But now I found LUIGI! For the past month I have been training him against level 9's for some reason. ( Which is really stupid ) And it was fun. His wavedash is fun, insane combo game, goofy tech, amazing chaingrab on Marth, pikachu, Fox, Falco, Falcon, etc... And I have been playing him plain on level 9's ( Which you already know ) And yesterday I decided Luigi is for me. So I have been practicing Luigi tech. And when this virus ends. I will prove to people. Luigi can win local's LOL. Yes I know it is stupid I decided by level 9's.

how on earth do you physically mash b so fast for the cyclone ? i dont think i could ever mash that fast lol

There’s mashing strategies out there that may seem odd, but with practice drastically improve mashing speed. For me it’s just traditional mashing fast due to a lot of Mario Party in the past lol

I tend to find that the lighter I press the more height I get. I can’t get the max height though.

Cool news bro. I got 9 clicks a second by plain mashing. I dont even use any techniques. The strat is to do lower presses. What I meen is to put your hand closer to the b button when mashing.

If you have the hand coordination to do it, using your index finger on B can do it pretty easily. Just tense up your arm a lot to have it shake and use that shaking to rapidly press the B button. I'm sure this is far from optimal but I can get max height every time. The real problem is moving your hands back to a normal position fast enough to do the rest of your recovery or doing it in that position.

Cant watch the whole video right now but trying to find out how the hell i just dash attack cancel-grabbed? I tripped up on my buttons trying to grab a cpu and he said "YIPEEE" right before I even grabbed him

Yeah it’s just a type of grab, which is covered in the general guide. Both Mario’s and Luigi have it pretty funny as it triggers the voice line each time.

11:23 I rather drop and do a quick jump right after to get on stage little to no lag. and u can bait by going outwards with the stick and going back in. if ur doing it right he should do a backflip or almost one.

I might be remembering incorrectly but I think Luigi does not need down B charged in order to perform a super cyclone.

Is that legit or not? I am still really baffled u gotta hit B 6 times to gain any air that is like impossible for me I can see how it gave people arthritis

@twotamatos It's legit. I change my grip when inputting down B, position your thumb and forefinger pressed together over the B button, then tense the SHIT out of your forearm and vibrate the controller.

@@Business_Blue okay I feel what ur saying I could not get past 6 but if u can gain a tiny bit of momentum from it it’s worth a shot honestly I may not have what it takes to play competitively if u gotta hit 6-15 but u can still master wave dashing smash attacks to make him much more of a threat I can see where Sakurai said I’m never gonna make another game like that where u gotta mash that much just 1-3 mayyyybe 5 at the most button mashes luigi would be so much better if it was just 3-5 button mashes not 6-15 that is too much I don’t want arthritis

Ahh misfires. Seems like I'm in training practicing tech skill I'll frequently get 3 in a row, yet even in bot matches I'm luck to get two in a game.

Optimal mashing is really tough but don’t let that discourage you, it’s not that bad if you can’t.
