I'm only 30 years old, but what's with all this, "it needs more" stuff? Review the frontier for what it is. If you want luxury go get the top trim Chevy or Ford. Our cell phones have all the Tech y'all want, let this truck be a truck. Some of us like it that way.

I'm sick of "innovation". Modern autos have been getting worse every year. There's a huge market for a rugged, simple, attractive vehicle like the frontier. I don't want a cartoon bubble body or a bunch of electronic nonsense built to track and spy on the driver. Give me a real machine. And when you have a great design, keep it the same forever.

Also, what's with these "auto journalists" talking about hard touch plastics in a truck? ITS a TRUCK..meant for WORK!! If you're driving down the road caressing your dashboard, something's wrong with you. The only soft touch [interior] items should be the steering wheel, arm rest on the door, and center console. Hard plastics are much easier to clean than expensive leather interior.

If you want a true and honest review, there is a video of a Frontier owner who has 200,000 miles on his Nissan. He tells it like it is, the good, bad and ugly. Most importantly he gives his reason for why he would or would not buy one again. Those are the type of reviews that should be searched for. True long term ownership of any vehicle.

Toyota still uses a 5 speed in the 4runner and uses drum brakes c channel frameon the Tacoma if you wanted to compare old tech. Lastly the frontier sits on the fully boxed Titan frame so you can easily swap the v8 and also the front suspension for cheap long travel. The frontier is very under rated and a solid truck all the way around, new doesn't mean better.

The truth is, this truck has a loyal following simply because it does not have all of the additional expensive electronic "it's going to break soon" crap you find on other trucks. I bought the 2020 pro 4x and i plan on upgrading the suspension to Bilstein 5100 shocks with lift springs and add a leaf. This upgrade improves urban driving and increases off road capabilities. Actually the trim on the older ones were chrome bumpers front and back, headlights and grill were slightly different, interior trim has also changed. Wheels have changed. I know it’s not a lot but your statement was still false. You clowns are gonna review the 2021 frontier and complain how they ruined the last small compact utilitarian truck there was. Some of us ACTUALLY use trucks for truck things and this a great truck for it cuz it’s got crappy plastic interior and has a real truck bed unlike the Tacoma’s plastic bed, it has a fully boxed frame unlike Tacoma’s C frame and last but not least it has rear disc brakes unlike the over priced Tacoma’s rear drums Cheers

Watching this 3 yrs after they uploaded it, haha. Personally I think these 2 guys are being very harsh on this Nissan. Here is why. 1. For people that actually use a truck as a truck? This is a very good choice. Its simple, and easy to clean. 2. They keep mocking the 4.0 V6 that the truck used to have, but that 4.0 has been proven to go hundreds of thousands of miles with no issues. Personally have seen one with 340k miles on it and still being daily driven. 3. Price. This truck compares to a Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road and this Nissan has things on it that the Toyota doesn't have. What are those things? Well when my wife and I compared the 2 this is what we found. The Nissan had the following where the Toyota did not: Leather seats, Sunroof, Navigation, Power Seats on BOTH front seats, heated seats, Upgraded Sound System, Spray in Bed Liner, Rear Disc Brakes, and more power. The Nissan was $37,500 the Toyota was $45,700 so a HUGE price difference. If you are Posh like these two guys? Yeah this might not be the truck for you. If you want to pull up next to a car like these two guys and say "Excuse me, Do you have any Grey Poupon?" Yeah this isn't the truck for you. If you want an honest, simple run forever truck? This is the one for you.

It's ancient but I'm really looking at downsizing from a 2015 Tundra with the 5.7. It also has 310 hp. This truck would be a perfect camping/overlanding rig with an Ironman 4x4 suspension lift/rock sliders and a camper shell/pop up tent set up like GFC/Super Pacific/Alu Cab - 310 hp and a 9 speed tranny sounds like a beast off road - I'd really like someone to compare the old engine and this one.

I love my 2021 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X, a great truck that has seen me through some fairly rugged off roads here in Western NC. I am sick of hearing reviewers complain about plasticy interiors and lack of electronics. That is partly what makes this "ancient" truck so good. I don't need soft touch materials or leather dashboard or whatever, and a 15 inch screen with 20000 pages of windows I have to go through just to turn the air up. All that does is make the vehicle more expensive, no thanks. Vehicle prices are too high to begin with, not to mention dealership markups. Oh, by the way, I find this truck to be fantastic on pavement as well as off road.

I just bought one of the last 2021 Pro-4Xs specifically because of this, and the newer V6 and 9 speed transmission is awesome for this truck. It's still in unmolested mint condition. We'll, I did a leveling kit on the front. Switched out bulbs and headlights to LEDs. It's just fine. It's tough. Dependable. I just got a new AGM battery last week. 300 bucks !!!!!!! Damn it man. Now I'm ready for plugs, brakes and tires. Which will probably be about 3K. But that's ok. I love my truck. My dad had one and used for construction side jobs and it was his daily. I remember he put on a Weber carb. and I thought it was so cool. You couldn't kill that little truck. I had so many miles and a hole in the floor board developed so my dad put a piece of plywood down there under the floor mat. HAHA. I remember I was heading out to pick up a girl for the high school homecoming basketball game (I was 16) I got in the truck and it smelled like cat crap. Our cat got in their and pooped in the extra cab part. The windows got left ROLLED down, LOL. I was so mad, but I asked the folks if I could use their Chrysler 5th Avenue, so it worked out, but I really liked that old Datsun and apparently so did the cat.

Sophomoric, sarcastic and monochromatic review, fellas. Same old criticisms of the OLD FRONTIER. Try to get a little more creative and nuanced. I've owned performance sports cars, a Silverado Z71, and too many "mom" cars to name - minivans & van-like SUVs. I love my Pro-4x Frontier for it's honesty, simplicity and fun. It's a reliable platform that performs both on road and off. I disagree that it's not a fun place to be -I love being in and driving my Pro-4x! Before going with the Nissan, I test drove the Tacoma - horrible seating position and crappy transmission (I generally love toyota products - I own a Sienna with 80K miles and love it), the 2019 ranger drives too much like a car and was 15K more for the same features as a Pro-4x with the disposable DI Turbo engine. The GM products are great on the road but beat you up off road and their off-road versions are great, but, again, are more than double the starting price of the 2019 Nissan. Also, the deal breaker for me is the bed rail height. I can reach 80% of the bed of the Frontier. I can't even touch the bottom of the bed of the GM products their beds are so tall and the TRD taco, too. The ranger was better, but with the off road package, forget it - I couldn't reach much of than one either. I wanted a reliable truck, with a useable, accessible bed, good on & off road with room for 5. I got a great deal and very happy with the vehicle. For a good, fair review of the 2020 Frontier, see TFL Truck. Andre offers an unbiased, buyer-centered and entertaining review of the 2020 Frontier... Check it out

This truck fits a nice niche. Affordable, simple, rugged and reliable. I personally would never daily drive a truck so I could care less about niceness or luxury in a truck. My wife and I each have a tesla for daily driving. But on the weekends this thing is good for camping, going to the mountains, moving furniture, home depot runs, anything. Plus I don't really care if it gets beat up, which is kinda the point of a truck imo. Additionally, seriously compare this to its competitors- the ford ranger is dated and more expensive. The gm products are nicer but are not reliable and look like weird angles. The tacoma is boring and more expensive, and not drastically more reliable. Plus it's not comfortable for taller men. Just my thoughts. Buy whatever make you happy.

Your criticisms are so false. Let's start with the new 3.8 litre vs the old 4.0 litre. The torque is virtually the same. The nine speed automatic vs the old five speed? 0-60 times is still 7.5 seconds. Fuel economy is hardly any different. Interior plastics are rubbery so there are no squeaks or rattles even on bumpy roads beating the hard plastics of Toyota/Lexus. Great stereo with the subwoofer under the seat. Remember, until 2019 you could get the V6 with a manual transmission!!! And the ride is smooth enough and solid. I would drive it to the arctic. I would drive it in hot deserts. You can trust it and that is a hard commodity to come by these days. Want a smoother ride? Let 5psi out of the tires!

These guys do a terrible review here. We get it your spoiled and want more toys. Meanwhile the people who you do reviews for are buying these and get to hear 20 mins of how old it is. We get it. But for a truck that is as capable as a trd pro for 15k less thats quite a bit more than a little value. Especially when you consider it has more power, comfort and the same reliability. These also have the largest stock tires(pro 4x) of anything sans the rubicon. These are made for an adventurous and active lifestyle amd I think I speak for many of the owners when I say we like the interior being able to handle some dirt and water with out tearing it up. May not look as cool at the mall but we arnt there anyway so it kinda doesn't matter. I would love to see you guys review a subaru lol

We've reviewed plenty of Subarus, as well as all brands. And in every case we seek out the pros and cons, as all vehicles have them. We poke fun and make jokes, but always mention both good and bad, as we did here. More than anything we want people to love what they drive, and it sounds like you do. In the case of many truck buyers, they will be used more as commuters on concrete and than off on adventures. We applaud anyone who uses a truck as intended. Thanks for watching!

I shopped for the Tacoma, had they had in stock, I'd be driving a totally lame engine, the Toyota lemmings can go on paying above msrp. After buying the 2020 pro4x, when I see the Tacoma, I think what chumps....

I wish they never updated the Frontier. With the prices of trucks now, Nissan wouldn't be able to keep up with demand.
@carlosizz89
@carlosizz89 3 года назад
Frontiers are the best bang for the buck, frontier guys know that it has a titan frame so you can engine and suspension swap for ultimate off roading, WHICH IS WHAT IT'S DESIGNED FOR. If you go spend 50k plus on a truck you probably get your panties in a bunch thinking about how scratched is going to get. Cheap interior easier for cleaning. Low tech for reliability, all those tacoma guys with snorkles know better than to do water crossings bc they'll fry sensors left and right. Another beauty about 15 yrs of the same truck is FINDING PARTS for when you do break something instead of crying at the dealer bc aftermarket is still chasing the new specs.

PURE DIRECT INJECTION causes carbon and gunk on valves so when warranty is ending your left with carbon and gunk on valves an a problem to correct.Toyota was smart to to have DI plus multiport to address this problem..It is SAD they went with a flawed process of feeding fuel to the engine
@HiPlains1
@HiPlains1 3 года назад
You missed the point of the truck. Completely. But if this truck is such a turd then why does Toyota still make the old 4 Runner with the older 4 liter and 5 speed at HUGE numbers? Because it works. The third gen tacoma is crap. The 6 speed (active learning trans) is garbage. It shifts early, searches gears, hard shifts. A real torque killer powered by the pathetic camry 3.5. Yeah it might get a few MPG's more but the Frontiers older VQ 40 has more torque and shifts normally. Its always sold 70K 80K units a year throughout its product cycle. The older port injection and hydraulic rack and pinion steering is bullet proof. Then look at the Chevy Colorado. Another POS. Worst transmission ever. Their 8 speed has over 5 years of defects ranging from hard shifts, shuddering and torque convertor failures. Pure garbage. Seats are also very uncomfortable (too narrow). Also the tacos seats means you sit on floor legs straight out. Cramped cabin. Ranger is the only modern truck that probably does better but its interior is far worse for ergonomics and the suspension rocks the body far too much. Plus the Ranger will cost you 10K more to get the to level of the Pro 4X. Its taken a while to get the 2020 production ramped up but Nissan sold 20K trucks last September. That's twice as much as any single month in the last 15 years. So easy for reviewers to slam Nissan. But this is the last honest truck for those that just don't want to worry about things breaking.

Sounds like you have one of these that you like. Ultimately, we want everyone to like what they own and drive so if that’s the case, then congratulations. Meanwhile, having driven every truck offering in the last two years there were a lot of things we wanted to Nissan to address here. We got to drive the new Frontier recently, you might enjoy that review. Thanks for watching.

I hate hearing these guys bitch about electronics. I fucking don't understand half the shit in my RAV4. I didn't know what half the shit did in my 2006 Silverado. What actual truck buyers want: Reliable vehicle that can haul equipment or toys. What suburbanites who are trying to look tough and rugged want: Fully decked out Cadillac in truck form that will make me look tough from the outside.

Our work shows that your assessment is incorrect. We've driven all the competition and they ride better than this does. We understand that some people want a hard/crashy truck ride, but across the board truck makers are working to improve ride on all their model. In fact, look no further than Nissan - who's #1 goal with the new Frontier was an improvement in ride. Our review of the new model shows they've taken this architecture to the top of its class. You might enjoy that review.

@@TestDriveVideos nah. My assessment is accurate. Enough so, that you felt the need to reply to it. Its a big reason why I've never liked this channel much. The reviews are just bottom tier. They don't feel honest or natural, much less entertaining. Most of your car reviews almost feel like you have a bone to pick or you make poor comparisons. Also I feel like your opinions aren't valued by others around you because you're a person that is rarely satisfied or appreciative. Idk. Just bad vibes all around.
