The Kermit is way way better looking than the previous Hulk... the new Kermit is elegant, balanced and unique. The previous Hulk was just too cartoonish and too green. Thanks Rolex for bringing back the Kermit
Yeah this series together with the Cookie Monster are an abolsute failure. Regards from a proud Smurf and Hulk owner. Cermit, the Hulk for blind people
Nice watch, but for about the same price ($19K), I bought an AP Offshore which I like better... if I could buy the Rolex for sticker price, I would. But for double retail, there are much nicer options
.....and the weekly market hype (wrap) update continues to commoditise the product (watches). Totally respect TM’s knowledge but it almost feels like WB want to vacuum all enjoyment from the hobby.
Hi Thrustin - the scenario you describe would be a really easy way for Govberg to lose its Rolex Dealership. We try to put watches on wrists that will wear them- both our Govberg and WatchBox businesses. The original paperwork shows where the watch was originally purchased and you will not find a recent model Rolex that came from Govberg being posted as Pre-owned by WatchBox. On the pre-owned side , we have to pay market prices and sell for market prices, so there is not a ton of money to be made on trading these watches Pre-owned.
there's no such thing as flippers, these are consignment stocks from ADs to grey dealers, for those of you who still haven't figured this out, I'm sorry to hear that...
What do you gain by licking AD/grey market dealers asses? Do you get any money for defending these tools online? Do you own any Rolex watches or are you a fanboy that can't afford a Rolex at grey market prices? Shut up man!
Tim is a employee he will do what even they tell him, also I tried numerous times to email or call Tim for a 5 minute conversation, and no reply....he has no time for the people who watch these videos.
Peter Gabal you’re a fool. You expect WB to sell these at retail price, even though they are selling for twice the price? For real?! How dumb are you, dude?
@@theguardian3431 I realize getting to EVERYBODY is difficult, or maybe even impractical. But if that’s the case don’t advertise your email. If people really want to inquire about a potential watch purchase I’m sure said person would have no trouble finding somebody at WatchBox for assistance. I’ve emailed Tim before and have gotten no response. And I can guarantee I’m not the only.
You got to hand it to Rolex on the marketing side of things. This was basically an upscale tool-watch last century and now it's a luxury watch. These days you have YouTubbers willingly assisting Rolex with marketing which traditionally is quite expensive.
yep, and just think about the premium you pay for the green bezel. how much is the new black submariner date? 15k? so thats a solid +10k for this green bezel. the market (i.e. people) are stupid
You’ll get so much more bang for your buck buying an omega SMP... you could even buy the 2 tone SMPs and still save money. At 25k, I feel like I’d start looking at A Lange & Sohne pieces....
Listen, I understand a few grand over retail for something rare, maybe even up to 5k which is extremely high but somewhat understandable for a super enthusiast collector, I get it but 25k?? That’s literally AP RO or ROO territory, that’s precious metal territory that’s literally an entry level sedan paid in full. But w anything that goes up fast.... oh wait... but this is Rolex we’re talking about 🤔 🤷🏻♂️ It’s both offensive and fascinating at the same time. 🤯ing
The first super case was poorly proportioned. Too-thick lugs, too-thick crown guards. Too squat. The changes on this new version are minor, but it's better proportioned, every which way. And it was about time for a 21-mm bracelet. And the new one's got a better movement, too. Now, I'm not about to buy it--due to the price--but I like the watch.
@@impexRQ I get what you're saying, but I do respectfully disagree. Flippers add immediate liquidity to the marketplace. For people who don't have access to ADs but have the financial means and they want the newest watch now they can now go online and buy a new Rolex. Without flippers, this wouldn't be possible. Flippers charge a premium because the buyers are willing to pay a premium. Simple market dynamics to be honest.
@@johnriesling2207 And how do these flippers make a living? By buying up inventory of watches that could have gone to other people. It's one thing when someone buys a watch, decides they don't like it, and then sell it for profit, it's a whole other thing when the watch doesn't even hit the showroom floor before it's snatched up by a grey dealer.
Why review these watches when it is impossible to buy them from an AD. So many of these Rolex models are now selling at double the retail MSRP, it is lunacy to buy them at those prices. This trend will continue as the AD's will sell to their select clientele and then the buyer who is not a "true" Watch collector will turn around and sell it for a profit on the grey market.
syl pascale you think that Watchbox reviews all these watches out of the kindness of their hearts? They are dealers and this is a watch they are selling.
@A. B. How are you finding the Omega? I have a Planet Ocean so thats why I'm looking at a Submariner. I'm currently considering a Black Bay 58 and am very close to pulling the trigger
I wanted to buy one, was willing to wait a few months. But I needed to pay full amount and was told to wait for about 9-10 months for delivery. I knew the market for Rolex is silly, but this was to much for me. And I am not paying double for a grey market one.
Hi Richard - we sell watches at market prices (and we have to buy them as well). If we don’t have buyers, the price would have to change. The new sport models are trading at very high prices since they were recently released and most people that buy them don’t sell them. We’ll see what happens when more watches come into the market.
WatchBox Reviews Thanks for coming back to me on this. Just don’t buy them from the flippers at these crazy prices, if all the large secondary hand watch dealers/companies did this there wouldn’t be this problem as you technically set the pre owned prices for them. Tim you are a man of integrity so I can’t think for a second this sits well with you either.
Hi Richard - if we only had so much market power ;-). The market is very fragmented, especially with liquid watches like Rolex. We are just participants in the market and have to buy and sell at market prices. If the "music" stops and demand drops, we would be forced to sell these watches at a loss, that is the risk we take. We don't see this as lacking integrity, just recognizing the pre-owned market as a a free market with supply and demand. For new watches, with the restriction of MSRP, the situation is totally different as there is a contract between the brand and the dealer to respect the retail price set by the brand. Thanks for your continued participation in the community! --Team WatchBox
Thanks Richard! It will settle down - previous years' releases started really hot and came down. While still priced above retail, they are much closer to retail than the new Kermit currently is. Thanks for your support! --Team WatchBox
There is a chance. I believe it will hold its value in a few months till the new Kermit drops a slight in value. So I say it's better to sell in a month or two.
From what I've seen and can gather, the new watch appears and is slightly more face forward. The previous appearing slightly more case forward, giving the illusion(?) of a smaller face. I actually prefer the outgoing. But send me that Cermit anyway Tim.
I wonder how long it took them to receive, this 4 year waiting list Watch! Maybe a week, 2 times the MSRP, flippers and independent dealers are living the n heaven for the Suckers willing to buy! Beautiful watch, I got mine on order, paying retail from your AD is logical, not stupid!
Can all those who have their knickers-in-a-knot about its pricing calm down and just deal with the fact that this will be an expensive watch for a long time. Rolex can, and should, only produce a certain number of watches. Watchbox can sell it at market price without being berated. If you cannot afford the premium, or you dont have a history with an AD to get on the list, then just enjoy the video and either wait a long time for availability at your price point, or earn more money so that you can buy it. Rolex is a luxury brand and global demand has been soaring. There are people who can afford to pay the premium without a fuss. If that's not you, then remember that this is not a tool or necessity, it's a luxury product and as such it is extremely uncouth, and unbecoming of a Rolex customer, to be whinging about price.
The 21mm lug width really detracts from the everyday universality of the sub, kinda sad my collection of 20mm straps aren’t gonna fit so good with the “Starbucks” :(
@@highnrising interesting - i've heard people who think 20mm is too thin recommend 22mm (the next most universal strap size). What 21mm watches do you currently have?
Its funny to see so many people call 21mm lugs a deal breaker on other watches, but when Rolex switches to 21mm they're all saying "20mm was too narrow anyway".
They’ve tightened up the proportioning and it now looks like a piece of diamond faceted jewelry instead of the suitcase that the last iteration looked like. It’s crisp, clean and tailored. Sweat!
Finally a WatchBox review of the hottest watch in town! With precise measurements to boot. For me personally though, this Cermit is the least attractive of the new Subs (it needs that green dial!) with my favorites being the Blueberry (still not as nice as the Smurf) the Yellow Rolesor with blue dial and the Sub no-date.
Don’t get why people call it Kermit. It’s not the color of the Kermit. The first one is the color of Kermit, this one is not. It’s more fitting to call it Starbucks.
Encourage? They CAUSE it. You realize this Cermit came from Govberg AD and is on consignment to Watchbox as double retail... go figure. Watchbox is a Scam company that cooks the books.
You might as well splice in that scene from the Adams Family where Gomez and Morticia are bidding on their own Chinese finger trap -- throwing out ridiculous numbers because they can. 25k? No 30k! 35k! Any takers?
When you can buy something for $10k and sell for $15k immediately, everybody is a flipper. It is economics. It's simple. You cannot blame a guy who want $5k profit. You cannot even blame Rolex for not producing more of popular models. The only one you can blame is ADs who work directly with grey market dealers to make extra dollars. This is something that Rolex can stop. However, if the AD is "too big to fail" (in other words have more than 3 Rolex shops) nothing will ever happen.
A lot of people moaning about Rolex availability and some even endorse socialism-like solutions to this Rolex scarcity problem. I much prefer how things are. If you have the money and the relationships (AD/grey), then you can choose if you want to bid on a Rolex. The fact that the secondary price is 2x or more retail is a reflection of the buyers, not sellers like WatchBox. This is the very definition of a free market. It's a double-edged sword too, because if Rolex produced more watches then buyers would not perceive Rolex in the same light as they currently do. This is called brand equity. You can see how the Rolex marketplace is a microcosm of the broader economy. Trust me this is a good thing. The takeaway: If you have a problem acquiring a Rolex then I suggest you save more money and better network with grey and/or authorized dealers. In the end, it's all about money and relationships--just like real life.
There is no conspiracy, at least not at Watchbox. I will leave my personal experience and take it for what you will. I’ve purchased 2 watches (not Rolex) from the Watchbox and had absolutely great experiences. I live locally in Philadelphia and walked into Govberg Center City on Friday hoping to get a new OP. No luck. I’ve been waiting for 126710blro for quite a while. I don’t expect it will be my lucky day for at least 2 years. My recommendation to those who want to collect would be to find love of other brands while you wait for the Rolex you really want. Or if it’s truly about flexing, just go over the top on all your friends and buy a gold Daytona 🤷🏻♂️ The guys at Govberg really want to sell you these pieces. I will say the older gentleman in Center City is a bit grouchy but maybe just having a bad day. They want to make money. Of course they want to sell you a Rolex if they could. Next time you go in to an AD, don’t just throw a fit, take your ball and go home. Stay and talk about what else you can look at or what can they give you a great deal on while you wait it out on the Rolex sports model. This is a relationship game.
