I’ve hit the midlife crisis, n always been a mod at heart, decided to take my A license n go for the 300gp, it looks the part and a lot of my mates are purist and have scooters from the 60s n 70s n seem to be pouring money into them to either upgrade or keep them on the road. Looking forward to my first purchase.
Hi guys good review the difference between the 125 and the 300 are as follows, the 300 is no 2 because it has a larger engine casing, it has a air scoop for the water cooling, it has sports tires under that cloth, it's got shiny finished mirrors 😉🛵🇬🇧
I've been giving some thought about getting one of these but haven't seen any reviews on it before yours and now I will want to wait to see if they come out with a 400cc scooter or not . Love your channel you give a lot of info with a bit of fun thrown in as well , stay cool guys
I have the air cooled 125 RA been riding it for just under a year now. Thanks for your review of the 300 it has inspired me to go for my bike license and get the 300 . I am glad that they have improved the suspension and lighting also the vespa is a proven engine so looking like a great combination of looks and power.
Great review, currently looking at purchasing the upgraded euro 5 version after years of a Lambretta, age is fast catching up and I reckon the road test helped convince me that this will be more forgiving on my 60+ frame
Love it. Mind you, the Royal Alloy TG300s is due out soon and based on the old Lambretta TV175 which i personally prefer the look of. I currently own a geared Vespa PX125 which i will never part with, so it would be nice to add a modern scooter like this to the garage. Be great if you lads could do a video for that scooter too. Cheers.
I think number 2 is the 300. I think I caught a glimpse of the radiator hidden underneath the floor pan. It's a very neat piece of design and otherwise they are almost impossible to tell apart.
Great lads gives a feel a real 'Scooter' in those days 👍... not that I had one, but alway's luved Scooter. Lambretta & Vespa indeed agree lost the plot a bit too modern into 2023... but still top Scooters. ...Everyone knows them well😊 but?? Let's try something different and see how better to price & quality 👌 Like the vintage feel & old 'Mod' □■□■ style on Scooter ☆ Royal Alloy ☆ sell's it for me and I'm sure any newbies looking to buy?? Ã great looking machine. But ide say the price has shot up a lot in..... 2023?? Great to see the Vespa engine too! Tks guy's enjoyable 👏
Nice, Thanks. I own a 300 gp in the states. You have absolutely hit the nail on the head. I much prefer my GP 3000 over the GTS300. I guess it's the looks and as afar as driving it., it is a long distance scooter.❤
Well Boys, Absolutely love your take on the 300cc and im currently in the process of buying one going by your recommendations, thank you! Im thinking the 300cc is No 2 because of the larger engine casing, the air scoop for the cooling and lastly the mirror’s look more posh than No 1 lol,lol
My dad had a vespa in green (50 years old) very similar to that one. That scooter really brought up the classic design. Thank you for sharing, another great review, like the Malcolm 2.0 but where the f#%#$ is the original Malcolm ? Cheers guys 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Is this model coming to America? I haven't seen one here so far. I have always loved this old school style. The new transformer look just doesn't do it for me.
Very good looking scooter. I actually ride a Vespa GTS 300 and I like it very much. But if I would have known about the Royal Alloy GP 300 earlier, I might have bought it over the GTS. Do you Guys know whether Royal Alloy is using Lambretta V Special chassis? That remembers me somehow to the good old Indian LML Vespa. Lambretta announced a G325, which might come in 2021. Hopefully the Lambretta 325 will be faster than the 120 km/h of the GTS 300. I guess I will wait until that and then decide whether my GTS 300 has to go, or not. Thanks for the video.
Think that the TV300 will outsell the GP300 IMHO. Bought a second hand Vespa GTV300 last year and love it. Never thought I'd turn to the Darkside, thought I'd always be a Two-stroke Terrorist.
RA are now promising that the new 300 TG based on the Lambretta series II will be with us in the spring of 2020 but my thoughts are that it could well be another years wait until it hits the shores of the UK, will be interesting to get your take on this.
My personal opinion: I’m tired of these small manufacturers copying Lambretta. Vespa and Lambretta were not the only scooter manufacturers, be original, if you are making a retro looking scooter put your own spin on it! Had two Vespa GTS 300, engine is not bad but for any serious commuters like me the 3000 mile service intervals is too short. I had to service mine 3 times a year. How can you make such a big scooter and not have at least space for a helmet under the seat?! One of the major benefits of having a scooter is the under seat storage. I currently own a PX200 and know why I don’t have storage it is a 40 year old design, at least it has manual gears and people know what it is. I don’t want to have to explain what on earth Royal Alloy is. If I had the money I would gravitate more towards remaking the Heinkel Tourist or the CZ torpedo, I think there is more you can do with them in terms of making them modern and usable. The price makes this scooter a toy for people who don’t really ride that much but just want to reminisce about a bygone era. Again this is my opinion, just getting tired of seeing this design over and over again from many manufacturers without some real improvement on practicality. If it is a twist and go you’re after the Japanese manufacturers have better alternatives, Peugeot makes a more creative retro scooter and Honda has done an amazing job with the new Monkey and Super Cub, especially when it comes to technology with keyless start etc.
I agree completely. This is a pretty decent re-pop of the Lambretta design, but it’s been done to death. I also thought that Peugeot’s Django was a far better retro looking scooter, but it’s a shame they didn’t make it in a 200 or 250 capacity.... I’d definitely have bought one. Would also really like to see a retro re-pop of both the Zundapp Bella and Maicoletta. I’d imagine it’d be easy enough to make a 350 - 500cc version of either of those given their larger wheels, which would make for a pretty decent retro touring scooter. Always been a Vespa PX owner, but the times they are a changin’ and it would be nice to have decent retro alternatives. 😎
I wish I could road test How come the suspension good ? When you previously tested the smaller model you said they were good? I also think you should do a Top Gear Lap, and compare times, Also the sweet spot for me changed Now I can corner left , but right feels notchy I do enjoy your bike vids
The test will be whether the Deliveroo boys go for them. I was in Canterbury yesterday a noticed they were all on beaten-up Yamahas and Hondas. Once these Royal Alloy things reach the used market, it will be interesting to see where the loyalties lie.
Transmission/belt cover tells you it's a quasar engine. The wife's got the 200 model, I changed out the front shocks for speedfight 2 ones which are more forgiving. Still not sure about this model waiting to see the response from scomadi rumoured models of 400i auto/250i 4 speed geared.
I think it will go down well with the old mods just for the looks , but my question as allways is the same for none mainstream makes of bike .Whats the expected engine life ?. I have had some truly riddculus answers from some manufactures as low as 20,000 miles,,. Which to most people is somewhere between 18 months and 2 years .That's totaly unexceptable when my Honda cub ,Wave and Grom all 125 or less have all surpassed 55,000 miles with zero problems the cub is approching 75,00 and I admit its a little tired now but still in regular use . may I sugest that it might be a question that you should ask the suppliers of the motorcycles that you test in future, as it has a strong bearing on potential purchases . Thanks , Ride safe ;-)
Can't see 5 grand in these at all. Honda Forza 350 is just 500 quid more and that thing is quick comfy economical has way more storage a beautiful dash electric screen... RA look good but not 5k good
With respect, I do find it amusing why people chuck in a comparison just because of what you can get for your money. 60% or so of the appeal of these is the character, look and feel of them. People who just want a big scooter will never go for a Royal Alloy. The only thing you could compare the Forza to is the Sym Joymax 300...not this.
@@motorsforthemasses I get your point I really do it's all about image character and style with this bike rather than function or practically' that said if its got very little storage no weather protection questionable build quality and parts supply problems and being a very basic scooter my original statement of " I can't see 5 grand in it" I think is valid because a well respected Japanese manufacturer like honda is producing something of a far superior quality for around the same money. Charm and character should not come with a cost' royal Enfield have proven this with the beautiful meteor at a very good price of 3.5k. I do like the look of the R A but I just don't think it's worth anything like the asking price 🤔
Hi guys, is it a Piaggio engine or a copy? Cheers! Number 2 is the 125, skinnier tyre, smaller glovebox! Plus it sits higher at the back when on the centre stand due to less weight lol 😂
Nice...but still not as beautiful as a Lambretta GP 200...and no gears?...and then I find they are made in the UK and now I love it!...and I hope they sell a load
Hi guys I have a new Vespa GTS and guess what I had rust at 500 miles and Vespa weren’t interested said don’t take it out in the rain and in Italy it doesn’t rain so won’t buy another one I have a question are these rust proofed from new many thanks keep up good work ride safe merry Christmas
Hi, that is sad indeed. The only thing RA had issues with rust wise were the front shocks rusting...I think the newer ones are better now though. Might be worth looking at the Euro 5 model.
@@ItsMe-vv9xd I used to cut all my Lambretta's down when I was younger, I bought a 1966 SX200 off an old man, first thing I did when I got it home was got the grinder out, I'm older and wiser now, those bikes are worth a small fortune now in original condition which it was. And I've never been a mod lol.
@@托马斯-i4v that's what great about the lifestyle we are all different enjoy. A scoot is only worth what someone will pay where I live old Vespas are still rather low cost but the lammy are selling for like you said a small fortune
Really like the look of these; been looking at scooters for the commute to work, even looked at electric scooters, like the Niu NGT, but the top speed still isn’t enough on those. This 300 may just do it?! Looks classic Lambretta too 👌🏻 This is liquid cooled isn’t it? Although I do think £4900 is a little steep 😩 but still cheaper than the Vespa GTS300 etc. Decisions desisions??? 🤔 It could do with some bar-end mirrors 😉👍🏻
Hmm....I’m tempted...and that’s from an actual mod/classic scooter rider..... Gts doesn’t compare with looks....it’s always been scomadi or these. Hmm never been an “original” gp fan.....but ok... Now this gp???...as an sx???...but ok...BUT ITS GOT THE VESPA 300 ENGINE!!!.....whho hook!!!.... And now I’m torn... I’ve just seen the NEW TG300S.... Now that’s pretty damn close as you’re to a SII..... Anybody in from ROYAL ALLOY???....Or...marketing/PR/advertising/media looking in...watchin this??? Contact me...I’m doing Brighton Bank Holiday MOD Weekender..... I have this “Hang on lads...(or lasses)....I’ve got an idea”........ Considering as we’ve just come out of “Da Bang Up...’in it??” Lol
@@motorsforthemasses Okay thanks, I just figured out that I need Class M license to drive anything over 50cc here in USA Texas. These scooters are very nice so I’m gonna have to go that extra mile to operate one of these. Great review by the way ✌🏻
For the name "Motors for the Masses", the other guy seemed like a "Oh look, I'm being forced to say good things about this poser Vespa scooter" Vespa snob.
