I placed the order for this bike well before any of this situation was in sight, it just happened to arrive with not so great timing. I'm aware these are complicated times for very many. I honestly struggled to decide if I wanted to publish this video now, I realize many people have been harshly affected in health and financially, but ultimately, RU-vid has been a mental escape to happier things for me, so as hope it is for you, I opted to publish the video now. I really do hope this does not come across as insensitive, and instead its a little dosage of stoke to help with isolation and lack of riding. I still haven't gotten to ride the bike beyond a quick lap around to block to check if everything was OK. Next video on it is going to have to wait until after we can ride freely. Cheers everyone and stay safe.

not insensitive at all, as you tube is an escape for you, it is for many others, even people who are sick right now probably are smiling as they watch your video. thanks for posting :)

Nice and enjoy.., I sold my 2018 Spectral in January and bought a 2019 RM Instinct carbon 90 BC as a leftover. List was $6100.00 and i paid 3620.00 including shipping, came from shop in Idaho , sold the stock alloy wheels for $200.00 and put on some new XA carbon wheels and RF 800 carbon bars, the rest is stock. To be honest much more than i need but its an awesome bike, climbs better than the Spectral and barely a pedal strike with the 170 cranks vs the 175. I have Stamp 11 pedals, yeah $$$$ but light and only buy once, FOX 36 so much better than the Spectral fork as is the rear shock. Got $1700.00 for the Spectral so i rode it a year for 700.00. Dont be paranoid about the COVID thing, i think its blown out of proportion. I had it about 3 months ago, fever and BAD cough at the end, self quarantined for 3 weeks total, just really back into riding and getting some endurance the last month, need to drop some inactivity and COVID weight, other than that i am fine

I’m really impressed with these. I had made the decision to get a 27.5 Jeffsey. Only reason I ended up passing is the availability issue. @BlindstuffMTB
@BlindstuffMTB 4 года назад
The DHR is a phenomenal tire for the places that warrant it. You know, I tried the 2.5 and didn't think it was that much grippier. I'd rather run the 2.3 on my home trails, and if I ever feel like I need a bigger tire for a trip of something, I'd go for something in 2.5 and more aggressive than the aggresor. I may make it 160 in the future, swaping the airshaft is easy. Want to ride it like this first and see if its worth it.

Hey Chad. I'm 182 cm, that's 5'11 almost 6'. I liked the large. I puts me on the upper range for that size, but it feels perfect. Have you checked the websites size finder? Should give you an idea. How tall are you?

Great video. I am thinking to upgrade my Giant Talon 3 to either a Trance 3 29er or The Jeffsy 29 Base since both are within my budget range. I currently ride a medium size on my 29er Giant Talon 3 hardtail. What size do you recommend for the Jeffsy 29 Base for someone who is 5’10 with 30’ inseam? If out do opt for the Jeffsy it will be my first adventure into buying a bike outside the norm of going to a LBS. Any recommendations would be helpful.

Dang it! I had been waiting for someone to post an up close video of this same exact build. I just picked up sick deal on a new 2019 Yeti SB150 T2 build last weekend. Less then the Jeffsy Pro Race. I'm not an enduro smasher but I am 6'4" and 250lbs. The SB150 felt like it was enough bike to support my extra size and it delivers a ton of confidence. I may have to give YT a call tomorrow now. How does the size fit to your standards? Is it the size you would normally ride your did you size up. Im on the fence with the XL and XXL. Great video!

The SB150 is a beautiful bike, absolutely sick choice. I think having that "extra" travel at 150mm rear, whether it be the Jeffsy, or the Yeti really opens up confidence. I think the sizing on this is completely spot on. I ride Large on almost every bike. At 6'4" I'm almost sure you'd be an XXL. It also a matter of personal taste, but I prefer having a roomier cockpit, I made the mistake once of buying a bike to small and just felt so cramped on it.

Congrats on the new bike! Love the color and the build. Thanks for sharing the bike check. Question: Are you using the Thirstmaster water bottle? If so, what is your experience? I have a the 2019 version and found that sand, rocks, gunk etc. would collect around the bottom bracket and lower pivot causing paint chips and it hard to clean in the cracks. I was able to mod a Mudhugger front long fender similar to this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XrXzGpupPWE.html. Pro tip: attach to seat stays and bridge only. Let it float on the bottom chain stay bridge near pivot. The downside is that it kinda ruins the aesthetics.

Thanks Dude! I'm not much of a waterbottle person, I usually wear a pack. I had the thirstmaster 3000 on my 2017 and liked it, didn't have any issues with it, but I ended up taking it off in favor of a tool frame bag to carry a tube, co2, etc. I haven't tried the 4000 yet, and I don't think I will. Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to look into that fender.

Nice bike dude!!! What do you recommend on how to choose your tires? Got stocks on my hardtail but looking to upgrade soon. Thanks!
@BlindstuffMTB
@BlindstuffMTB 4 года назад
Thanks Hendrik! Choosing tires is mainly on the purpose you're going to be using them for and how to balance grip vs rolling resistance. Its not exactly true, but you can considered that a simplified approach is that more grip is more rolling resistance, so faster rolling tire for XC will have less grip, while grippy tires for DH will be slower. Find your happy medium amongst that. The front tire you can get away with a much more aggressive tire without feeling the drag so much, the rear is really noticeable due to pedaling. I'm a fan of Maxxis because they're bullet proof, but the truth is that theres a bunch of good brands out there. If you give me some more detail about where you live what type of riidng you do, etc, I can help with more specifics.
@Vandercross87
@Vandercross87 4 года назад
BlindstuffMTB thanks man! I live in Belgium so a lot of XC close to home and nothing too steep here, but I could use just a bit more grip than I have now with my stocks on there. Although peddling here remains important since its quite some ground to cover. But we will be heading up to the Ardennes a few times this summer so some extra grip could come in useful! I’m actually looking for the sweet spot between peddling and grip since I’m saving for a new fully too and don’t wish to spend money on extra set of rims & tires for the hardtail. Thanks for the advice man!

If you do mind my asking, what guided you to this bike versus a Canyon Strive or Spectral?
@BlindstuffMTB
@BlindstuffMTB 4 года назад
I've ridden Canyon bikes a few times and while they did everything super well, they just didn't capture me, that's of course subjective, but just no my style. Also, the geometry feels a bit dated to me, for example, the seat tube angle looks like it hasn't been updated in years. That doesn't mean at all that Canyon bikes aren't good, on the contrary, I'd say they're really good, just not the right fit for me.
