I own a 2017 Zero SR. If you can accept the limit of never leaving town (no real range), you will never want a gas bike again. The torque, the quiet, the not shifting in traffic... it's magic. I came off a 2010 Triumph Thunderbird. Which still has a special place in my heart. But getting back on the Triumph after riding the Zero - it's like getting out of your F-150 and getting onto a horse and carriage. The noise and smell which I used to love so much now feel antiquated and intrusive. Hot tip, Zero's are expenseive new. Look for a used one. I saved 50%. You have to remember, there is no oil to change, no valve adjustement, no complicated engine to worry about - so a used electric is pretty much a new electric. Oh, while I use mine 90% for commuting (my acceptace for never leaving town), I do take short weekend jaunts around local back roads. Super fun.
I did not recognize the Livewire so I appreciate you pointing out which bicycle that was. And I shouldn't say bicycle I guess but I don't remember how much it costs either. I think the phrasing in this video is unfortunate about smaller batteries. On the Toshiba website right now what's I was linked to buy an a search engine you can download the catalog and also has a menu for the new modules that they're looking for customers for. These batteries were announced years ago in a joint publication that's still linked on their website it's in Chinese and English. They alternate every paragraph between Google doodle drawings I said all the little drawings and the alphabet that were familiar with. Anyway for a hundred and fifty grams DC charging is required and the storage of the hundred and fifty grams the Toshiba offers has increased significantly. Again it's only two volts 450 G or so but or I should say for 850 g a little bit more than two and they said 150 not 850. This is the smaller of two new batteries that they have higher power output and 50% more energy density. It is very common for people to criticize lto chemistry based upon competitors to Toca Toshiba so it is fair to talk about their car and Battery even if it isn't available on any existing product right now they can clearly Supply it. So instead of 2.9 it's 5.4 I think and that's a big leap! Even if it was 3.9 to 5.4 Translate it translates into a cheaper motorcycle that can get to 60 miles or 70 miles per hour in under a second. Doesn't mean you're going to be able to go very far but the distance that my cat talks about it being able to go is a little bit excessive for most people. Especially as he points out that the smaller amount of energy that a motorcycle needs at safe speeds means that you don't need to have DC charging. However if you can plug two Chargers in there's no reason why a single 12 kilowatt charger would not make more sense hurt. I have noticed that the new notebook computer with the tiny credit card-sized 300w power supply is an example of what we are not yet seeing. That power supply is producing a very flat low noise direct voltage. I don't know how much that part costs but it's a bargain for sure prayer that tried to find the part number for it but the laptop itself just has an English name and I have not found any model numbers but this is again anticipated for years. There are certainly a number of electric vehicle Chargers that use the new transistors and are bidirectional for example. I appreciate the effort to talk about what this motorcycle feels like and the safety and performance that it offers I did not know that they were using Bosch technology for example I don't know what year that was added. I think that having a smaller battery with a 12v kilowatt onboard charger because let's talk about what your oven Jack can do I'm and I think that's what people need to understand is every house with electric oven as opposed to an electric dryer Outlet that's 50 amps. It's not much to plug a TV into their so that maybe you have to turn your oven off and maybe that's going to cause a problem if it makes you reset the clock on your oven but I think to have an electric motorcycle that you charge in your kitchen it's worth it not having the time on your oven you may just have to put some electric tape over the clock display on your oven or maybe consider getting a high-quality oven that does not have a digital clock? Anyway 50 * 220 is 10000 + 100 I mean it's 11,000 Watts. Now if you've been paying attention you may ask how many grams does Toshiba impose upon the bike to accept 11000 Watts? Well it's not the 11,000 Watts that matters is it because it was something like 60,000 was it from 35 to 2 80 was it 80 anyways if you want to know how many grams it takes to get 80000 WS then I think you have to remember how many watts you can get from 150 Graham and I believe it's 700 or it was 700 and now it's 1100 or something but the point here is that this motorcycle weighs several times as much as it needs two for the same performance
The in the USA it sells for $21,000 plus sales tax (about 6~7%) plus dealer fees, etc. The actual out-the-door will be at lease $25,000 or more. How much is it selling in Norway in terms of US dollars?
The Zero SR/F in the USA sells for $21,000 as base price plus sales tax (about 6~7%) and dealer fees, etc. The actual "out-the-door price" you need to pay will be at least $25,000 and close to $30,000 if some option items were added. How much is it selling in Norway in terms of US dollars?
I think it is exempt from all taxes because of the electric powertrain. 99% of our electricity is from hydroplants or other renewable resources also as a bonus.
Great review thanks. I'm being loaned one next week so it'll be interesting how I get on with it. Biggest concern is the mileage. Do you carry the plug around with you in the trunk?
Stop worrying about mileage of e-bike of any types or name brands. Just go buy a traditional motorcycle of your dream and you'll be happy with the best one you chose.
I love these Zeros! I don’t understand why is it with all that instantaneous torque they still accelerate slower(to a 1/4 mile) than my Z900??? I expected this bike to do a sub 9 second but its in the mid 11s... go figure. Thanks for sharing 👍 BB 🍻
I believe the computer governs the speed even in sport mode. Safety & it extends the life of the motor & electronic motor speed controller by minimizing heat build up. I've seen where computer hacks have opened this bike up significantly for 1/4 mile test runs during development.
How does it compare to a high end ICE bike, price for performance? Some people out there might be interested, instead of having to look it up. I'm guessing $15-17k, in which case the premium here may not be that bad, if you consider cost to own, and prefer EV qualities and social responsibility.
Riding an e-bike does not mean you have more "social responsibility" than those who ride conventional bikes. Even if you are right about that, you can't blame vast majority of people who do not ride e-bikes because most of them can't afford it.
have you tried the Suron X with the new speed controller and the new upgrade battery they are selling ? they say its insanely fast for much lower price than most emotor bikes.
Thanks for this video 👌😄and You exactly like me when it come to two wheel i don’t miss with speed all i need to arrive safely that’s more important to me than speed soon i will move to California and i am thinking to get one even i am little scared of motorcycle but this electric model seems safe and easy to control and fun to drive and correct me i f I was wrong but 10 k for bike is awesome deal
I like this SRF e-bike from Zero a lot and I think it is the most beautiful e-bike out there in the market place. But, I will never buy it because it is jut too expensive even if I have the money. This e-bike will serve the niche market well for those "Green Fans".
Unfortunately, no. Elon apparently had a pretty bad accident while on a bike during his youth. So, a Tesla motorcycle while Elon is in charge is extremely unlikely.
@@IAMTHECABOOSE ohh, come on dude, that incident can't be the argument to avoid getting into that market. Maybe he can see that as a way to make them safer. Not boring safe, but some other way
@@IAMTHECABOOSE ohh and plus what I have said already. I'm sure you've seen the electric quad. Maybe??? Maybe it's a smooth transition from a car a motorcycle? Like, car->atv->motorcycle?

Here are multiple sources reiterating the same information I previously said.
that license plate holder / light / wheelie bar thing has to go. I see even some of the test models were running without, but I guarantee 99.98% people will instantly remove it from the dealership to half-way home. The dealers should not even put it, offer it as an optional item. Its absolutely horrible looking and oddly placed. What a dumb afterthought.
Yeah that was the first thing that came to my mind also was to get rid of that fugly piece of junk hanging off the back......And the passenger peg mount looks just as dumb.....For me it would be a one rider bike so I'd take that round part by the foot peg and cut off the passenger part and round it off and it would look great with just the foot peg for the driver......Oh and one more thing that shock not being in the middle sticking out on the side looks dumb also.
Hmm for that price point though you can get a Ducati Streetfighter V4S- twice the bike from every standpoint and way better looking. Resale value would also be much higher on the Duc
So, 100 mile range when charged to 100% and ridden as it should. Big whoop dee do. Not enough. That's about an hour and a half in the saddle. Pfft.....
to be honest, most people arent traveling more than 100 miles a day when they commute, which is what they say this bike is for. unfortunately what zero have designed isnt a boring commuter, its an exciting adventure that entices you to twist the throttle and pin it on every straight. Also the price tag doesnt exactly scream commuter. what zero need to design is a bike with a high battery capacity, decent aero and one that focuses on efficiency to make that 100 miles 150+ . But it seems that zero want a head turner, not a genuinely useful, fit for purpose bike.
Since most driving is running errands around town, the bike is fine, except, where do you put your 30 pack when you do your shopping? I don't want to strap that 30 to my back raising my center of gravity! Especially if I've been drinking all day!
I was going to purchase this motorcycle and even took it on a test drive and when I found out the payments everything it was way to dam expensive, it’s like buying a car lol
