This is excellent... and done with such great tongue-in-cheek flair and top-shelf style. So glad you dropped your standards a little and allowed me to participate! And the winner of best award show in WhiskyTube goes to... It’s Bourbon Night! 🙌 PS: share the dress code next time 😅
Whoa. I know I commented on pretty much every category, but I was expecting you all to pull maybe one or two quotes. I called my wife over to the computer for the first mention. The second time, I was like "ok, they're going to get it all out of the way in the beginning." By the last mention, I was thoroughly embarrassed. But I do appreciate that you all appreciated what I had to say. Great episode, my comments aside!
I've noticed many youtubers are recommending Buffalo Trace and so I bought it today. It is sooo smoooth! It is pretty reasonable price too about $25, NIKKA from the barrel is tasty too, it costs around $35.
Best Value American: Eliajah Craig barrel proof Best limited edition 2020: JD SB BP Rye Best international: Red Breast 12 Best barrel proof: Elijah Craig B520 Most diverse: old tub Most exciting you didn’t get to buy: William larue Weller Not worth the chase: Blanton Best distillery: Buffalo Trace Best rye: JD SB BP Rye Best bourbon of 2020: Knob Creek 12 Year
Wanted to thank you two. Finally purchased a bottle of Wild Turkey 101 after seeing all your reviews on it. It's quite good. Your reviews have assisted me greatly in expanding my bourbon horizons!
ECBP B520 is my all-time fav. The C release is not even close. Glad to see others agree … but that has made it harder to find. Down to my last 2 bottles! 😉
I reluctantly picked up a bottle ofCol. E.H Taylor small batch bottled in bond at my local Safeway (grocery store). wow🎉🎊 Total Wine had a bourbon and a rye on the limited counter; gladly picked up both!!
I agree that Heaven Hill covers the European market well. I can always buy ECBP here in Germany...often have it delivered by Amazon or online whiskey shop within 24-72 hours. Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is my favorite whiskey for the money. However, the price has risen from €50 to €75 per bottle in just one year. I am still smiling about the "everyone should try an 18 year old" line.😁
Fantastic job you guys! IBN does their "end of year awards" right! Would love to see a "Best Cask Finished Bourbon or Whiskey" for next year. Expressions from Bardstown Bourbon Company, Joseph Magnus, Four Gate, etc. definitely should receive recognition for the artistry that they showcase! Cheers to you and best of wishes for your continued success!
Bardstown Disco 3 was the best bourbon I had last year. It’s better than or just as good as every BTAC I’ve had with the exception of WLW (I didn’t get to try the 2020 edition). The Discovery is just so well crafted, complex, and nuanced. Bardstown is absolutely killing the bourbon game right now.
My favourite American Bourbon at the moment is The Widow Jane ...... it’s made in Brooklyn, New York by a small company in the Red Hook district ( they are originally a small batch chocolate maker) its made from a specially selected Kentucky Bourbon cut with extremely pure water from the Widow Jane mine in (Upper) New York State. Well worth a try if your looking for something a bit different ..... My favourite Whiskey a the moment is from The English whiskey Company closely followed by Cotswold whiskey. The English whiskey company made the first English whiskey for over 700 years and in just a few short years the have come on leaps and bounds and are now very well established on the whiskey scene. Cheers everybody 🥃
Nice awards show. I must apologize being way under dressed while watching ur video. I'm happy for Elijah Craig! It's one of my first bourbon loves and is always locked up with my other collections. A must in this house! Thx 4 ur videos. You two look very nice.
I love these annual awards...so well done as they all have been. The JD Rye is amazing. Scored one after seeing very positive things about it. Right time, right place and been looking for more every since. You mentioned you had some coming soon...think it will check all the boxes for you two..hope you enjoy as much as I have. Or hate it..lol..sometimes I hope for that too when I try something, when I know there is no more to be had :( I hope JD takes notice and works this into their regular offering some how. I would even take an annual release..as long I knew I had a chance to score some more some day I could take comfort in that. Again well done...you two are great :)
I'm watching this while sipping on some Blanton's lol. I didn't go searching for it. I literally walked into the liquor store that's just outside of my neighborhood that has a pretty bleak selection and it was just sitting there, high up on the shelf. 1 lone bottle just for me. I nearly tripped over myself to make sure I got to it on time, even though no one else was in the store other than my wife. I got it at retail value and I enjoy it, but I definitely wouldn't go seaking it out.
That is a good looking man. I'm not gay, (not that there's anything wrong with that, I'm just not), I'm just saying so because everyone is commenting about her and that magnificent dress. ;) Nobody ever gives us dudes some credit for spiffing up! 😂
Really wish Bardstown product was available up here in Alaska...putting the feelers out to try to get some up here...very intrigued with all the finishing options.
I'm very curious as to how sampling bias and distribution impacts this. Aside from the commenter you shared, I don't know anyone who preferred knob 12 to disco 3. I know many people who passed for budgetary reasons or simply couldn't find it due to distribution. With only being able to vote for things we have tried there is inherently sampling bias towards easier to find/cheaper bottles. I missed GTS this year and couldn't vote for it based on that. Perhaps it is better than what I voted for but I will never know.
I think Bardstown should have gotten Distillery of the Year if for no other reason than that they are doing the most with what they’ve got. That Discovery #4 is a banger. Well done as always. Sara that dress is smashing. Chad...nice tie.
I’m 35 seconds in, and I already gave a thumbs up for this video just because of the outfits y’all are wearing. I’m sure it will be great even if yall recommend motor oil.
The community nailed so many of these!!! Old Tub, I heard someone refer to it as a bad relationship; started off okay, but grew to hate it over time and couldn't wait for it to be over! This was kinda my reaction too, only bottle I've had where the neck pour was better than the rest of the bottle. A lot of people seem to like it thought. WLW - Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!! I wanted one so bad!!! At least I scored a bottle of THH. Blanton's - So not worth the chase! EHT SB tastes better, is cheaper, and easier to find. Knob Creek 12yr - Good stuff. Don't know about best of the best, but there is definitely something to be said about not having to enter a lottery, wait in line, or pay secondary prices. Gonna have to revisit this one a bit more.
You guys look great and just an awesome video. So much to discuss between all the nominees and winners! I have some of them on my shelf, more that I have tasted, and, alas, I see some that I will likely never taste. Well done!
I got to try both the JD BP rye and the GTS last year and i still found the LE Jack Daniels to be better, not even taking price into account I just found it to be the superior product, the best product I’ve ever had from Jack Daniels and it’s not even close to number 2, and I really like a lot of JD products
Stumbled on this video via google...while drinking a glass of Elijah Craig Small Batch. Immediate subscribe as i am a self proclaimed bourbon snob in the making. Nice to meet yall!
Recommendation for the "Best New American Distillery" Had to open legally in the year of the show. So next year would be best new distillery of 2021. And 2021 was the year they opened the distillery. This would take some serious research but I think it would be interesting to have them send you a sample to enter for the award and then you guys blind taste test them. That's one show, then you have to come back to the awards show for the results. I know around me (Martinsburg WV) there has been at least 5-6 new distilleries in the last few years. In all of the US I'm sure dozens if not hundreds have opened up. Love to see who's doing what and who to keep an eye on.
Was a little disappointed in the Bardstown Discovery Series. We booked a tour and sample a few months back and glad we did. I was going to buy one of the autographed bottles when we first arrived but glad I didn’t after we got to sample them. I felt all their flavors fell flat. I think it’s cool they are doing different blends to try to come up with something unusual, but just felt young and shallow to me on the pallet.
I only wish I could have voted on more stuff, Stagg has been out of my reach for ages and Rare Breed is well... rare in my area unless I feel like paying $60 for it. Clearly my task to drink all the whiskies has a long way to go. ;)
I personally love Baker's 7 year but I don't see it on any RU-vid lists so maybe it's just a personal preference. It's also very hard to find here in Ohio which is curious.
