We review one of the largest truck-based luxury SUVs in 2021, the Cadillac Escalade. We discuss the good and bad along what makes this SUV vastly different than what, BMW, Mercedes. This could be one of the most interesting American Trucks to come out in a while. Others to consider are the Audi Q7, Lincoln Navigator, BMW X7, and Mercedes G Wagon.

@@ehsanzolfaghari2711 Definitely. The CTS had a nice interior but only in higher trims. The CT5 is just on another level. When you look at the base CT5 it’s clear how much work went into it over the CTS. The standard 10.2-inch touchscreen, the new analog gauges are MUCH more modern and look so much better, the CUE system has been dramatically improved, more standard safety tech, interior is more upscale with all the leather stitching & upgraded materials, and the exterior design is the perfect blend of elegant and sporty cohesiveness. The car lights up as you approach it. The ambient lighting is also beautiful at night. The 10-speed is buttery smooth and also feels smarter than you. It always knows which gear it wants to be in. Much better than the 6-speed that was in the CTS.

After looking at the new Corvette and their new full-size SUVs, most of their other products (Namely the Silverado and their smaller SUVs) just don’t have the level of thought and detail to their interiors and exteriors compared to those models because they look and feel so old. I hope that some of the thoughtful innovations that have been baked into this new Escalade (As well as their other SUVs and the Corvette) get passed down to their more affordable SUVs and most certainly, their refreshed pickup counterparts.
@splewy
@splewy 3 года назад
For a while now, GM has been a few gems amongst a sea of garbage. I think their problem is that even after cutting half their brands a decade ago, they are still way too big. There’s just so much waste and redundancy keeping them from offering a well rounded portfolio. GMC and Buick are both still redundant divisions. GM should eliminate those brands, ditch all of Chevrolet’s current lineup (minus the Camaro and Corvette) and replace it with the cars/crossovers from Buick and the trucks from GMC.

1) I love seeing Cake and Spoon show up on your infotainment screens lately. 2) I assume the amazing quality and tech in this truck will make its way down the rest of the Cadillac lineup. It's truly impressive, and GM needs this to try and keep up with the German and Japanese brands.

Only these guys would talk about the downside of peak technology like P-OLED situation. Not just burn ins but quality control is also a problem for small displays for LG for a while unlike their TV's. Take the case if Google Pixel 2 XL. The only downside and thing that stopped P2XL was color inaccurate and bad display.

It’s safe to say every manufacturer outsources their digital screens. That’s not the type of part a car maker would make themselves.
@bradhaines3142
@bradhaines3142 2 года назад
theres no way any car maker makes their own screens. they all have to outsource that because they cant afford the RnD let alone logistics. honestly im impressed they dont shrink the dash to only the space needed for vents and AC hardware then just throw a tablet in the middle. tesla happens to use the exact same size as most laptop screens, they just put it sideways

The opening shots of that thing in the snow looked great. And...surprised by such glowing praise for it. Not my cup of tea, nor could I afford it (and like you mention the longevity of the screens is something I'd be worried about) but that AR implementation of navigation seems very slick, hope it catches on.

6.2 liter V8 .... meanwhile in Europe, while shopping for a 15k € city car, expect to pay 2k € eco-tax (markup) because your 90 HP 1 liter 3 cylinder produces 17g of CO2 over the mandated limit of 95g per km.

Not what I expected as I know what you expect from a GM product. Can Cadillac push this level of luxury down into their sedans and smaller products? Or did they pound the money into the Escalade because they make big $$ from big trucks (and no competition in this segment as you point out).
@IanHobday
@IanHobday 3 года назад
No foreign competition but Lincoln has really stepped up their game and their new SUVs are very, very nice. I think GM is pushing Cadillac to provide real luxury competition to foreign brands so I expect to see this level of luxury make it into their other vehicles too. They had to start somewhere and their flagship SUV makes sense, now they can move the same quality and features into other products. Definitely looking forward to that!
