This little Trax came in with almost no refrigerant in the system and after doing a leak check there was none found. I quickly discovered where it went and why
Love watching some of the cowboy techs whipping out a DVOM to check powers and grounds, every time I giggle to myself “ someday you will get burnt”. Have seen lots of grounds look great on ohms but can’t pass current. Started using 9004 test lights shortly after stating working on cars some 25+ years ago. Plus hooking a 9004 bulb to fuel pump circuit makes it easy to see it light up from under the hood. Every tech should have a batch of these and know what the amp draw is on all of them also.
Hi Jake neat trick. I put some covers on my test lights to avoid them breaking or burning harnesses or car mats. Bore a hole in a Lysol cover and put the bulb in then boom. You are good. Really love how GM labels their fuse box.
You've got me inspired to make another drop test tool with a headlight bulb, this time with male banana jacks to quickly run a parallel drop test. The first time around I copied Eric O's method with soldered needle probes onto a headlight bulb, and that works OK. Your tools are better because you're already there with the multimeter, so no need to fiddle with extra bare needles. And you can do it hands free, so you can jump into the car and turn the key while watching the light. The brightest technicians have a way of seamless quick diagnostics without wasting a lot of time. I know you haven't yet built up a following but I want to encourage you to keep going with RU-vid. Just be prepared for something strange that I found in my videos over a decade. There is an inverse correlation between content value and popularity, so you just have to shrug and continue putting out great videos. In the end you want to attract and build an audience with enough background to benefit from what you're explaining.
@@autodiagyt ive seen some setups from other ppl just thought id pick your brain on it lol....saw one guy had a box with multiple bulbs and would pick and chose the amount he used to create a certain load....atleast that's how I interpreted it.
It's curious that the A/C compressor didn't cycle off on high pressure before the popoff valve opened, the popoff is meant to be a last resort to relieve pressure in the event of the high pressure cutout failing to operate properly.
Great lesson on load testing and voltage drop! Can't believe that this was on a 2021!! Back in the day fans and relays would last 30 years / 300k miles no problem haha
These Trax’s are junk! I just put a motor in a 2020. While it was in the shop the lady told us she had an issue with the A/C. It already needed a resistor and a pigtail from being melted. Several months ago we had a 2019 with a blown head gasket and every single valve in the head was pitted so bad it couldn’t be saved. Had to get a new head. Nothing but problem’s with these cars. They’re like the new Chevy Cruze 😂
