The 13-0, #4 Cincinnati Bearcats and the #1 Alabama Crimson Tide met at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX for the 2021 College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Cotton Bowl Classic.
Sorry for the long wait. Had a lot going on and, honestly, doing the highlights for this boring game was not a priority. It's a sad truth that this 27-6 game was more competitive than the average playoff semifinal. This playoff system has been a total disaster for college football. I plan to keep making videos, but the pace will probably be slower than in the past. I'm just not nearly as interested in college football as I used to be due to the playoff, conference realignment, NIL, transfer free agency, etc. It seems like that's the case for most people, because viewership is way down on television and on every CFB RU-vid channel, including mine. Bama Rewind is still important to me, because I've put so much time into it over the years. But I'm sure many of you will agree that it's kind of a tough time to be a college football fan right now.
I really appreciate what you do; thank you for sticking around. I'm still very interested in watching (Bama) CFB and the teams that orbit Bama, vying for the throne. But yeah I agree with you, NIL and the Playoffs are turning CFB into Diet NFL and I hate that :(
I will always love Alabama football, but you are right in everything you said. The biggest issue with NIL is once SCOTUS ruled in favor of it, no regulations or rules were set up. Now it’s next to impossible to try to regulate it after the fact and even harder to enforce future rules with the NCAA having zero power. All the issues you mentioned have driven many college basketball head coaches into early retirement. It won’t be long until it hits college football. Thank you so much for what you do. I know it is just a game, but watching these videos, especially the ones from the mid 80’s through 2000, take me back to my childhood. I guess it is corny, but those videos, even some of the losses, bring back very fond memories of simpler times.
Definitely not a fan of conference expansion, especially the route it is currently headed. Potentially just two or three super conferences isn't my cup of tea.
Florida fan here. Sorry you are feeling like that bro. I know sometimes in life the things we love sometimes dwindles due to changes. I really love your content as a gator fan. Helps me get more incite on the top boys in college football. I truly hope everything works out and you get back to your grind. Your authenticity is what got you your followers. And you got me as a subscriber. Peace be with you
Out of 16 semifinal games since 2014, only three have been competitive. 2014 Ohio State 42 - Alabama 35, 2017 Georgia 54 - Oklahoma 48 (double overtime), 2019 Clemson 29 - Ohio State 23. Basically every other semifinal has been over by the half. The average margin of victory is 21 points. Not excited for them to expand the playoff so that we can get even more frequent and more lopsided blowouts.
That’s what happens when you let teams like ND and Cin in. I get that their regular season win/loss is there, but when you play a trash schedule all year you end up gettin in on false hopes. Cinn was just another team that had no business gettin in the top 4.
Most college games are lopsided blowouts. Only 3/8 finals were decided within one score, so it’s not like the BCS model would have been better. On the contrary, 6/16 finals teams and 3/8 winners were 3 or 4 seeds, so the playoff did make a difference
It’s even deeper than that. It’s Alabama blowing people out. The only exceptions were Oregon blowing out FSU/LSU vs Oklahoma. And this past year Georgia vs Michigan. It honestly makes the regular season pointless. No one beating Alabama except for the rare appearance of a good UGA, LSU, Clemson, or Ohio State team. College football is too predictable. Hopefully these NLI deals and super conferences will spread the recruiting talent across more teams
@@jaketaylor3571 it’s more than that. Notre Dame and Cincy aren’t the only teams to get blown out. And ND can actually keep up with teams like UGA. Bama is really just a different playing field. Oregon blew FSU out. Alabama blew Washington and Michigan State out. Georgia blew Michigan out. LSU blew Oklahoma out. Cincinnati is even debatable, cause they performed historically on par with most 4 seeds. But the truth is the difference between 1 and 4 seed teams is huge.
Had bama passed more they would've played into cincy's strength of good pass defense, cincy just didn't play the run enough because they were looking for alabama to pass it more often. Bryce was looking rough that game and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if there would've been more interceptions from him. So saban being a good coach decided nah, we can't commit turnovers bc we'll lose so we'll attack the natural weakness of a 3-3-5 and its the run game. Solid game. lots of strategy
He played to Cincy's weakness and had the personnel to change to a rush offense. The D line and O line was too deep for Cincinnati to handle for 4 quarters.
Saban teams always play vanilla, conservative games in the first round of the playoffs when they know they're going to win, see notredame and Washington games.
@@tylerhughes5420 I disagree Saban seemed concerned about a “close” game so he tried to throw the ball. That did not work as well as he wanted so he got bailed out by 3 blocked passes that would have had a 14 point swing in favor of Cinny. He then decided that running the ball against the undersized DLine was the best option.
If Cincinnati being ranked in the Top 5 wasn't laughable enough, getting completely dominated by a far superior Alabama team on a national stage showed everyone just how far Cinderella had to climb to get to the top of the mountain.
@@shooter4805that’s all schools lol. Also these guys aren’t from Alabama so they didn’t get that big from that. Those guys are from Texas, Florida, Cali, Ohio….. where the real football players are produced from
It's one thing to lose. It's another thing to think your great and be rolled like this. Cincy needed some humble pie and they got a Full dose. The AAC has lots of growing up to do.
@@SuperBomberman007 lol...... adjustments are made in every sport around the globe. Fickle obviously isn't a Saban. The Cinci O line got man handled, the D couldn't get a stop and Ridder ran for his life for 4 quarters. That's Humble pie and then some.
@@SuperBomberman007 Means your team has an incredible unbalanced defense. If you have a glaring weakness, then a good coach will expose it. It's like a team claiming, "well, our kickers and punters were better than yours... you shouldn't have scored TDs and just competed with us in a field goal competition."
Ball control all the way, UC was forced to let bama run and keep the game from breaking open. UC simply didn't have the OL or WR to match with bama, Fickle was kind of forced to play schemes that were getting pounded to prevent a blowout.
We lost the Natty but still won the SEC so still very proud of the team and achievements just had some unfortunate injuries to some key players but that's football for ya
@@jonadams867 you're the one whining about it, but I'm the salty one 🌿🚭🤠. That's like UGA saying in 2017 we lost the Natty but still won the SEC or LSU saying in 2011 we lost the Natty but still won the SEC
I mean they did belong there. Beat a top 10 team on the road, went undefeated, etc.. Bama would’ve beaten any other team outside of the playoff just as bad if not worse
@@incendiumaquila7605 Add these that give the "big ones" fits, Ole Miss, SC, Auburn, LSU and MissState. That leaves Vandy, Tenn, KY and MO. Four teams are not a majority.
@@weschaffin No the Bearcats last year would beat those teams. Ole Miss and SC sucks, Auburn is too bipolar to know anything so maybe, LSU and MS possibly. Cincy was really good and they still don’t get the proper credit.
How weak was Cincys schedule. Never seen a team defense collectively to timid to attack and hit ball carriers. I didn't see this game live. Glad I didn't waste my time.
They were clearly overmatched, but they deserved to be there more than some teams that have made the playoff in the past. I also think they were better in 2020 than in 2021.
@@kevinthejuice I absolutely know that when you get to a game of this magnitude your character has had to be tested multiple times. I didn't see that here. And scheduling does matter.
If you watch the press conferences you can clearly see that the major issue last year was Doug Marrone they have all but admitted that he didn’t know what he was doing
@@rickpritt1811 What are you talking about? With such an unbalanced defense why wouldn't Bama just run over them? Did you think it would more "honorable" for Alabama to only win by playing to Cincy's main strength? With that rush defense, I'm surprised Alabama even attempted 28 passes... then again, 3 went for TDs, so....
I've got 50 year old games on this channel where northern teams gave that same excuse after getting blown out. Crazy to me that they're still running with that. Why does the weather matter when the teams practice indoors anyway and then play these bowls in a dome?
@@wavyycapalot5880 actually great every year makes natty almost every year has a winning year cinci bad competition every year still lose in big games every year cinci is ovveratted every year imlao
Michigan did worse against Georgia. At least Cincy put up a fight for two quarters. Bama changed their offense just for this game. Georgia made no real changes to their typical game plan and slapped Michigan even worse.
@@HiiiGuardian Bryce Young got 181 passing yds when Alabama averages 300+ yards passing a game. Bryce threw 369 against Georgia in the Natty. Cincy's pass defense is elite. Alabama just happens to have to luxury of completely changing their offense for one game with their super deep roster. Most teams wouldn't even try doing that for a playoff game and play into Cincy's strengths and high INT scoring defense.
@@SuperBomberman007 If Bryce had "needed" to pass more to win, guess what? He would've passed more and won. That's what it takes to beat a Georgia. HOWEVER, all it takes is 28 passes and 3 passing TDs to beat Cincy. No need to air the ball out against that team.
Look man there are moments where Cincy held up and I think there were some plays where we should have been more aggressive (no screens within the 20. Runs and play actions/QB runs) This could have been a totally different ball game but you live and learn.
Cincy should hold their head high. I was impressed by y’all’s coaching. Saban had to chess match this one. Roll Tide, but those Bearcats could be a problem in the future.
@@shooter4805 Some lucky turnovers would have changed the game. But Bama has too good of a coach to even let the passing game mess them up. Bama made a run heavy offense just for Cincy. They didn't play this way against anyone else. That shows the respect Alabama had for Cincy's pass defense and their defensive weapons. Shutting down Pierce and Ridder was no easy feat either.
Remember Jesus Christ is the only way to the Kingdom of God for Jesus is the son and God is the Father. Jesus Christ died for our sins. God is love so dwell in the love of God✝️❤️
Cincy had no right being in the top 4. This was a total sham based on them winning against Notre Dame. Cincy was taught a valuable lesson. You had better bring your balls with you when you think you belong at the table with Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, The Ohio State, etc. Cincy could have saved themselves this huge embarrassment if they would have played like they belonged, they didn't. For all of their posturing they enter the preseason at #23.
