Thanks for this! Was a huge help for my f150. Hopefully an added tip for anyone - for the lower side painted pieces on the driver and passenger side running along the center console, it was very hard to remove them by hand. I tried with both hands and couldn't get it to even budge. Even tried putting a trim removal tool in various spots and no dice. What I found out is that if you open the center console storage box lid, ford put felt tape at the very far end of the pieces (towards the back of the car at the top side). This is to protect the center console. Put your trim removal tool in here to start and begin to push/pull the painted trim piece off from back to front and it will come off one tab at a time. Do not pull this by hand with no tool or it will bend/brake. Using this method required almost no effort and was very easy. Follow the advice of this guy as well - let the tool do the work. Also be very careful when pulling the piece forward at the end. There is another push-in clip (can see them all at 3:48) on the front end of the piece near the top that you need to separate by pulling away from the center console before you pull the piece out and back or it will break. Also be very careful of those forward tabs which can also break and are cheap plastic. When all the push-in clips are done the piece should slide forward with almost zero resistance. If you can't get it to come out, double-check you don't still have a push-in clip connected.
Thanks Buddy! My 2021 has 2 screws you must access from top behind the touchscreen assembly. Your video was very helpful and jest a few differences for to pushbutton start and bigger screen. I was able to pull all by broken vent handles and glue them back together with your video help
That was awesome, love the confidence for sure. I am planning on placing some aux switches for lighting and since my truck did not come with fog lights probably putting those in as well. It comes apart much like my New Honda Goldwing. Appreciate the detail of the video.
Great demonstration!! Would you happen to know any button jumper tricks to get my 2021 center display back on? I was backing out of my driveway tonight and my camera and all was fine. I put the truck in drive to pull away and it all went black. No issues prior. I tried the radio power + FFW button for 10-15 seconds "trick" but it doesn't do anything. HALP!!
Thank you for the helpful video - the video was especially in describing the bezel removal. Was wondering if you could recommend the best web site to buy a replacement APIM. Especially including an accurate reprogramming included if I supply the seller my VIN number. Is this possible? Of course, I would like to avoid reprogramming..
Technically yes it would drop right in but I would not be very sure that the brain and harness would the plug and play. I’m assuming you would need a new brain and possibly harnessing to convert to the 12 inch
Hello Audiolux ... a quick question for you. what is the expected amount of time to do what you did in the video? I am asking because I am having trouble with my 21 F-150 infotainment system and the dealer is telling me he needs a day to do what you just did. Just curious? Thanks
Audiolux The process takes one of us roughly about 5-10 minutes to remove all the paneling as you have seen in the video. There is no rocket science involved. A day is definitely overkill, but maybe the new unit needs recoding and they say a day as they expect to be busy and get to your vehicle as a time becomes more available
