@@silentt5004 only few things missing IMO. More ambient lighting strips, quad zone automatic climate control, massaging passenger seats, better front lighting systems (swiveling, cornering, and matrix lights are missing I think), and should have better mpg for the V6 (Genesis gets 20 while competitors get around 25). On the flip side, some or all of the German competitors are also missing features like the 3D display, larger screens, panoramic roof, a larger rear seat (G80 has 2.5-4 inches more legroom than all 3 germans), remote parallel and perpendicular parking, blind spot cameras, etc. In other words Genesis is right on par, if not better, since they offer a 10 year/100K mile warranty, and cost 10-15K less when comparably equipped.
One of my tops in this segment and I’d have this over any current German option. Genesis did a great job with this. Hope this bodes well for their future products.
@Vq37 hr my point is people looking for sports or luxury sedan usually end up with something German or Japanese . No doubt Hyundai is stepping up their game but someone looking for sports luxury sedan will highly unlikely end up with genesis as per the sales figures thanks to you ! Being an Audi owner myself (not a brand snob) since my daily is a Honda If I were to spend 60k for a new car I’d swing for something else than a genesis . On the other hand if I was looking for a daily I gladly get a Veloster N any day of the week ! Just my 2 cents
@Vq37 hr Last year's G80 was also SIGNIFICANTLY worse - mostly because it was simply outdated - than this one. Plus Genesis doesn't have the dealer network set up yet. I suspect this new G80 will sell much better.
@@Adi-tf4jk For that "kind of money" you will get a base entry model audi or benz coupe 2 door with a 200 hp engine and a deluge of mechanical issues that will cost about 10k to fix right as your warranty runs out. Good luck..
I like Genesis' vehicles a lot, but believe me when I tell you that the dealership experience is the WORST. I brought my G80 sport in and left with a literal hole in the passenger seat that they tried to deny claiming they were never inside the vehicle. Only problem was that they left their fingerprints everywhere. I reached out to Genesis and they reassured me they would fix everything and be in contact. That was almost 4 months ago. I haven't heard a word from them since. I even tried reaching out once and they said they'd handle it the next day. Never heard a word.
True their dealers are horrendous. Where I’m at you still have to go to a Hyundai dealership for them and I walked away from a g70 because the experience was terrible.
@@Dkdid9183 they aren’t premium Honda’s and Toyota’s anymore what do u mean 😂 I wanna know what you were smoking before you commented that, Infiniti is the only brand that seems more like a premium of their parent brand than any other brands
I has been driving this 2.5T advanced model for 4 months, cannot be happier. Only regret is that here up in Canada we don't get prestige trim level for 2.5T engine, and 3.5T will be a total overkill for my drive style. Most curious thing is even though I see everyone says this is better offering than German rivals but I never saw a second 2021 G80 anywhere except dealer parking lot. There were few GV80, slightly more GV70 spotted in my community so I guess larger lux segment are still an outreach for Hyundai. I guess after all in 60K-70K car range, most people may adore Genesis design but when you actually pay out of pocket - few people are attracted by value proposition, a badge still overwhelms everything else.
Great Vehicle and has just about every option as a 100k car. That Lexicon system is amazing i tested it and it blew me away. All in all great bang for your buck! Great Review!
Insane how much quality you can get for $59k in a G80. Compared to the $54k ES250 f-sport , this would be an absolute no brainer as you get way more luxury with an even stronger power train.
@@MAXlMUS Lol. These new Toyota/Lexuses are all using boosted 4 cylinder engines. No more NA 6's or 8's with the Toyota reliability. With proper care and maintenance, both the G80 and ES250 will live the same lives.
@@MAXlMUS Toyota's main selling force is reliability and cheaper service. Not Lexus. The prices of Lexus vehicles have steadily gone up to compete with BMW/MB/Audi. But like I said, most modern cars with proper maintenance and care should and will easily give you your moneys worth. Not that many modern cars that completely break down after 60k miles these days because those automakers and car designers have all been weeded out by the even more well informed consumers in 2021.
@@henlolneh and still more reliability and cheaper service than big 3 german. Look on those 15 years old LX, they are still happily owned. Can you find X5 like that, and how much it will cost to own it
I don't like the GTA 5 like exterior styling, but the interior is extremely nice. Great balance of physical controls and screens, and the dual tone really sets it off.
Fantastic car, love the Genesis G80 brand. Nice video reviews, simple and to the point with POV. You do these in Ypsi, and I live in Canton, so all the scenery is familiar. Thansk.
Do you think genesis cars will be reliable in the long run when they start to age or will they end up in hoovies garage with a bunch of fault codes and engine/transmission issues ?
Not sure with the turbochargers and electronics used in the car, but transmissions used have performed well in the past. Definitely room for concern though.
I really, REALLY wish that luxury automakers would quit tying to copy the German brands in terms of naming their cars (G80, AT4, Q50 etc). If I say “Legend”, most everyone knows what that relates to, and it usually helps forms a positive connection in the mind of the owners/customers to the brand overall. Same with “Escalade” or “Town Car”. Let the Germans do their thing. Everyone else (in my view) is really missing out on something that could help build-up their own brand’s identity.
@@leumamk5259 hey now, that's the 2nd biggest mall we got aight? Jk, that one is trash, the other one in the south is better but there's no Genesis down there
@@insayn7995 just because the full digital looks really cool. Nothing wrong with this one, but if you watch the reviews that have the full digital it’s pretty awesome.
if you have money to buy it and need to buy some car, will you buy g80? Instead of other cars? From americans standpoint I will choose g80, i love g80's drive feeling and luxurious feeling. In addtion considering after service, of course i live in south korea.
the new sonata and elantra have such nice looking, clean simple and extremely functional and modern looking interiors. Mazda3 is a close second in terms of function and minimalism but the hyundais have a slightly more modern look akin to a bmw. Now the g80 is probably the BEST looking interior in any car besides a Bentley. Completely blows mercedes out of the water, and edges out bmw/audi fairly well imo
I think it looks alright. It is a nice departure from the traditional three spoke almost every auto maker is doing. The same thing happened with the Mercedes s class where they had a beautiful two spoke then due to people complaining of its unusualness they conceded and added a three spoke.
Drive mode selector is in the wrong place, look at how your hand has to hover over drive selector for reaching multimedia There should be multimedia which one actually use after car is started.
@@dwolfe2907 what? Lexus isn't even close to Mercedes/BMW when it comes to luxury, tech and performance. The only reason why Lexus still exists is reliability.
I test drove this car it was beautiful sadly tho I’m not a big fan of the sound system. Yes it’s extremely loud but you can hear the True Tone of the music as you would with a bmw 😕
@@sturat18 I produce music and watch videos using my expensive studio monitors lol. Yeah it’s hard to tell but on some you can tell how crisp they are or how bass heavy they are.
I think some of that has to do with the dealer network problem. I really liked a g70 but when I tested it the Hyundai dealer I had to go to was so terrible I gave up. Once they can fix the dealers I think buyers will take them more seriously.
Because of the most horrible dealer network out of all the brands. You have to buy them through normal Hyundai dealers, which are a mess themselves. And you pay luxury car money but get the same experience you’d get buying a base Hyundai accent.
I actually think the interior looks outdated and cheap. An all digital gage cluster would be nice. The silver plastic buttons and the beige/crème color just scream outdated to me.
