Hydraulic clutch is out, cable clutch is back in!
2021 Harley-Davidson Ultra Limited in Deadwood Green/Vivid Black Two-Tone.
The biggest change we've seen so far on these new 2021 Touring models (other than the colors, obviously) is the change to the clutch. We took one for a spin around the block to get a feel for it and see how it compares to the hydraulic clutches of old.

My 2012 street glide has now skyrocketed in value with its standard clutch cable. My 1991 has a historical clutch cable that’s is priceless in value.

I wish they had upgraded the suspension and or motors. Cable clutch is the New thing? Disappointed I think I'll keep my 2017 ultra limited thanks

Im with you exactly, I have a 2017 limited too. My opinion, they went cheap.

@@danieltaylor2340 yes I like the fender led light and the chrome on the rear fender. The new bikes don't have this. They went with the little cvo style emblem.also no heel shifter, and you don't get the bags for the tour pack and saddlebags anymore.

Um...Magura make a bad ass HYMEC conversion for HD 😂 I don’t know what’s worse...the fact that Harley can’t engineer a proper hydraulic clutch or the fact that none of the executives at HD know how to use a telephone 🤔 one call to Magura and they probably would have a had a better system with less cost

I have '16 FLHTK with Hyd. Clutch. No issues whatsoever & I will never go back to clutch cable. Been there, done that.

My 2007 touring model had a cable clutch you can play around with it how you want now my 16 flhtkl is hydraulic which is okay

I remember not liking my clutch cables very much. And now they a bringing them back. Do the CVO's still come with a hydraulic clutch? If so, then you know it is about lowering the cost of the bike by a few hundred dollars. Next year they will be coming back with brake cables too. That should lower the price of the bike even more.

Not really..i had the trans primary migration..bout 14 oz..every few hundred miles..no one had an answer for it at the time..got rid of it..went with another brand no issues...also have twin cam n Evo..all good there too...

The cable clutch is much easier to play in the friction zone for slow speed U-turns and tight maneuvers. Ask any motor cop! Every police agency is celebrating the change back to cable. Those complaining about the change are probably duck walking 3 point turns. LOL

Yes the speaker covers are stock the front fairing has the what I call the hard plastic like the street glide special and the rear have that cloth look . Wtf Harley couldn't match them .

The clutch pull on this 2021 Ultra is much lighter than the clutch pull on my cable clutch 03 Ultra, and it's lighter than the previous M8 hydraulic clutches that I've ridden.

It’s not lighter, I’ve also ridden the 2021. He is correct about better engagement. The hydro clutch with a lite force slave cylinder is effortless.

@jaxxsun I for one have no intention of going back to a cable clutch and it's adjustment every 5000 miles. Thankfully I won't be back in the market for another bike for at least 4 years as I have a 2020 Ultra Limited WITH a hydraulic clutch. If they stick with the cable clutch I'll just find another brand.

@jaxxsun It's funny you mention Honda, my other current bike is a 2007 Honda VTX 1800. I bought it brand new in 2009 (it never sold before I bought it). It now has 92,000 miles. Not ONE problem with it's hydraulic clutch. Come to think of it I've never had one problem with that bike at all.

So I have heard conflicting options on the choice of Harley going back to cable vs hydraulic. Cost to primary fluid entry to crank case. Does anyone know for sure, is it to cut cost and retain more profit or to address an issue?

Purely cost. There was never a transfer issue related the the rode,it was poor gasket tolerance and pressure which was solved with a pressure relief valve.

@@xtreme4stringbass thanks for the reply. I was actually talking to a Harley tech yesterday and told me the same thing about the poor gasket in primary. I’m still getting used to the hyd clutch, have a little over 1000 miles on the new 2020 street glide. Always had cable, was just wondering what the deal was for Harley going back. Figured it was cost. Thanks again

My 2012 street glide value just went bonkers with that clutch cable. My 1991 Harley value has a historical clutch cable, you can’t even put a price on that.

It's the best stock suspension we've ever had on the Touring family, but obviously it doesn't compete with Legend or Ohlins.

The "new" old clutch. That hydraulic clutch is not that great on a Harley. BTW, I have a 2014 Ultra Limited and a 2009 Victory. Both have pros and cons. The Victory's clutch, suspension and engine performance is much better. The Harley's fit and finish and after market is better. The Harley is just dang beautiful, I love it. But it seems at that price point you'd get the same or better performance.

First it was the heel toe shifter. Now it is the return to cable clutch. Next year I hear the engine will be brand new "Milwaukee .5" with 250cc. "Nobody used all that power anyway hilt hilt!!!"- harley dealers.

After seeing another new bike...I'm not impressed...so many technical things on this and other newer Harleys...recalls. because of poor quality control...talk about this bike in a few months...then will see
