No matter what I do, I can't get my Photos storage on my phone under 15 GB. After spending over 2 hours on the phone with Apple Support, they told me there's nothing they can do for me. All the optimizations are turned on and enabled, but my phone won't offload any of the photos to the cloud. So frustrating.
From what I have been told is as long as you have purchased enough iCloud storage like 200GB per month and let’s say your iPhone has 128GB of internal storage as mine does and the total storage used from music, photos, apps, etc is 50GB and your photos take up 15GB of that 50GB being used then IOS sees this as a non issue and will not need to optimize things since you are in no dire need for more room. This is how it was explained to me.
No matter how much i delete stuff, iPhone just raises the "other" storage . I cleared 5GB...Within a week my iPhone storage was full again . I dont even have apps anymore. And I cant even remove my images from my iPhone, when i try it just disconnects the device from the PC
U might wanna take ur phone to a repair guy who can copy your data from your chip put it on one with more storage and put it back into your phone. Or just get a new phone.

@@murtza_6640 dude that isn’t fucking possible you idiot. The processor has a secure enclave so it’s literally impossible and you literally have no idea what you’re talking about man I worked at the Apple store for 15 years in the repair department.

Though the price for changing the chip depending on the phone will probably be as much as buying a new phone if it’s old. But if u just want to change the storage nothing else with the phone you have that’s the way. Also remember apple is the same company with stores that refuse to fix MacBooks because of ‘water damage’ when that wasn’t the case.
Another thing that helps and is much simpler ==> Update your iPhone to the latest version. I had 60GB of System Data and now it has come to 8GB. All the best
I found a major way to clear out a ton of storage. I had about 90 GB used by iOS then I deleted Apple Music when I went to Spotify, and after I deleted it, it dropped down to a little over 9GB's of storage. Apple Music is the biggest issue with storage, at least so i have discovered thus far.
So far I’ve deleted 100 over vids but the avail storage remains the same! Also, when I delete them in the album or in the Recently Deleted, it always have this glitch whereby the media will recover on its own. I can’t use most of the messaging apps and camera due to insufficient storage 😢
I get the idea of iCloud (I just paid for it, and it’s great!). However, my phone is STILL telling me that I don’t have enough storage. I’m so confused. Photos are by far the biggest storage taker-upper, and so I should have no storage problems. However it’s not working out like that. Whenever I try to look at pictures now, it shows me the really low quality version (like I expected) but it won’t download a better version of the picture when I tap on the picture. It says “this phone doesn’t have enough disk space to download a better quality version of this photo”. I’m really confused about this.
Apple storage space optimization sucks ass. Long story short, it’s penny pitching tactics to withhold storage space and make you pay for ICloud. Apple CEO is waiting for a true media uproar before significantly increasing the standard storage space from 64 gigs to 1 terabyte. Until then, expect frequent glitches due to your phone running low memory.

Doesn’t work for me, I only have about 3k photos & videos & it’s taking over 30g of my spaces. I still paid for 50g spaces & my phone is still full. It’s just frustrating at this point.
I haven’t watched the video, but I see people are having trouble so here’s a tip Go into photos Go in albums Scroll down Go into recently deleted Now check to see if it’s stuff you don’t want Then select all stuff you don’t want Delete delete the deleted stuff The stuff stays for 30 days I think and will delete delete after I’m pretty sure I hope the tip works
I’m having this issue where I’m making a 30 minute video, I’m using an app called capcut, I still have to edit it all but it says there’s no space on my camera role but I have 0 photos and I have freed up so much space but I still cannot download it for when I am done
Mine’s only 128 photos and 84 videos and it takes 190gb🤬 I don’t understand this.. I have iPhone 13 pro max in 256gb and a 50gb iCloud storage and all I can saved photos and videos are like that. Can someone please explain me this?

Christ, this was such a huge help. Thank you! I’ve been out of room on my 256gb 12 pm, but I’ve been rrrreally weary about using the optimize storage feature bc I LOVE the super crispy clear 4K photos and videos. One question, if you delete photos off your iPhone does it also delete off the iCloud?
YES... it does. How do I know? I just spent over 2 hours on the phone with Apple support. If you delete the photo in the library of the Photos app on your iPhone, it does also delete it in iCloud. The only way to avoid this is to save the photo in a separate location in your iCloud outside of the Photos library.
@@megajeremy3000 That was my question to Apple! They said it's just meant to mirror your devices but not act as pure cloud storage. Frustrating. iCloud is the only cloud storage I've ever had that doesn't allow me to manually choose to offload files to the cloud. You are completely at the whim of the software as to what gets offloaded (if anything in my case).
NONE OF IT WORKS. I still don’t have enough storage for a single photo. I have so much things I need to do and I still have no storage. I have five apps, zero photos and no reason to have no storage. It’s been like this for days. I bet if I deleted all my apps, I still would have no storage
I have iCloud Photos enabled, and have even purchased more storage, but my “photos” storage (that’s on my iPhone and not iCloud) has stayed the same. Don’t know what else I can do to make my photos storage go down since it’s taking up almost all of my storage!
This so not helping at ALL. I don’t want to delete ANY of my apps.. and they ALREDY automatically offload… I have 2T of iCloud space, and I need help freeing up space in the device itself, and put into iCloud for storage. Seems like nobody knows how to do that.. z
One tip solved my whole problem, get rid of your VIDEOS. Go to album sort by videos, delete the ones you don't want and then remember to empty your trash like in this video. Went from 64 to 53 GB in 5 minutes

you mention about freeing up space by deleting 'other storage' . I dont see 'other', I have iOS and thern System Data. but no 'other'. What am I not getting?
