Ovidiu, I too am left totally frustrated by an Apple iPhone 12, because you can't do even the simplest tasks. We are just trying to save a photo (we received in an email) to the Apple 'Photo' app. As far as I can tell, it can't be done! We have spent literally an hour on this- trying every which way on the phone, and I notice the iPhone 12 is riddled with inconsistencies and misnomers. Options you need will not even be presented to the user, they are too often hiding behind unrelated options, which of course, is the last place someone will look when searching for the answer. I believe we are actually watching the death of Apple- it's a ship run up on the rocks as inexplicably as TV cable companies did with their business, they inexplicably decided at some point they would charge 4x too much while offering incredibly awful content. There is no focus at Apple on ease of use, and the Apple 'ecosystem' has grown far too complex and unmanageable- and the fault lies squarely with Apple. I'm left with anger- fully internalized anger- and I will never buy an Apple product again. I need a new laptop computer at the moment, and I am confident that a quality PC will provide a better experience.

Thanks for this tutorial. I was at full capacity and Apple wanted me to upgrade my storage to the $9 a month. I believe thats why they make it so difficult to do this so we can pay for the extra storage.

I get this message too. I realise my iPhone was using data and MacBook was using wifi. Once I connect my iPhone to same wifi as MacBook, it works.

hey Rob, hence you have experience with Airdrop. If i transfer the same way as this youtube video, does it lose quality? like how do i keep the quality of the photo if i transfer to Mac VIA Photo? or AirDrop is the only method that keeps the highest quality?

I was finally able to import the video and now I'm getting a QuickTime error saying "QuickTime can't open" after it says "Converting..." (whatever that means). Any tips? I want to rip my hair out. Downloading it from Google Photos also didn't work and it is too large to Airdrop.

Hi, thanks for the video! Is there any way of transfering photos and videos WITHOUT overwriting the original timestamp with the time and date of the export? I am on the verge of ditching my iphone and moving back to android since copying photos with correct timestamps seems to be an impossible thing to do in the apple cosmos...

Good video thanks. For future reference it would be nice if it was explained what the selected setting ("keep originals") actually does. I would feel more comfortable following the tutorial knowing what those selected settings do instead of trusting that someone else's preferences will match my own.

This is great. Thank you. :) Except that I have a problem is that in image capture, it only show the first 20 pictures and then it is just gray thumbnails and so I do not what I am importing. Therefore, this is not very practical for what I want to do.

Dammmmm, im looking to only share photos to stay in my apple tv, but almost every RU-vid video I search on how to, its always the same, for some how i have transferred 3 photos from mi IPHONE but those are the only photos i can look without screen mirror my iphone to my appletv… ok heres what im trying to do with all this.. i want to draw a picture and record with my phone, but i want to have my reference photo on my apple tv, BUT without screen mirror my iPhone to apple tv,,, because im using my phone to record, idk if some can actually really I understand what i trying to say, because I’ve been trying to search for some videos on RU-vid and theres is none of what im looking, every time I search it appears on how to screen mirror or how to transfer photos from itunes and all that pliz someone

My iphone won't even come up at all. Ever since I updated my mac to catalina, I've had this problem. I used to be able to rely on photos and videos appearing in my photos app to get that stuff to my computer, since everything is synced with icloud, but now it won't even sync all my photos or videos. I need to figure out how to upload videos and photos that won't show up in photos on my mac from my Iphone, especially when I can't find it anywhere on my mac. I've restarted my mac, I've checked and unchecked the option in finder with the sidebar as to where things would be located, then checked it again after leaving it unchecked for a few minutes and nothing. It doesn't work at all. Please help me figure out this problem since following the steps of this video got me nowhere since the phone was never detected like yours was.

Yes, I transferred all my photos from iPhone 8 to old iMac, BUT the MOV files don’t work, and any photos which didn’t convert from HEIC to JPG can’t be viewed/opened. Ideas?

This is the method I always use, but it seems to not work properly...I have 46.000 Images (a lot, I know...) on my old iPhone and when I use Image Capture it works but at around 10-12k Photos it just suddenly stops, when I try to restart the process I doesn't just import the rest of the photos but makes duplicates of the ones that are already on the harddrive like for example "001" -> "001 1". Any suggestions?

Lightning port on iPhone is still limited to usb 2.0 transfer speeds at 480 MB/s. 😮 Transfer over iCloud or airdrop restricted to your 4G/5G or broadband upload/download speeds measured in Mb/s. Divide top speed by 8 to get to MB/s. Come on apple put a USB 4.0 type C port for next iPhone. Faster transfer speeds of up to 40GB/s for 4K HDR files and faster charging.

Hello. I have an iPhone 12 for a short time now and i decided to transfer my pictures and videos. I have Mac mini (2011) with high sierra. Yesterday I updated the phone to iOS 16. People, what I was hearing about the apple eco system is that everything is easy and click away. But this will kill me. I tried copying the pictures with Photos app and Inage capture app. The phone is recognised by the computer but when I try to import both programs say that the files can’t be transferred. Image capture fevers me error 9937. I’ve tried almost everything on the net including this tutorial and no success. Any idea, what I do wrong or I don’t know… the cable is original apple wireless keyboard cable to USB A. Small edit. Screen shots and downloaded photos are transferred

Quick fix for this if you have to deal with iCloud photos is disavowing iCloud photos and saving all the photo to your iPhone (MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH SPACE BEFORE DISABLEING)

This is an awesome solution! Sure beats AirDrop! :) I have one question (as I haven't tried this yet: When transferring video, does it transfer the full uncompressed file? (options>all photos data - when using airdrop) If I forgot to select that prior to AirDrop I would get a super compressed video. Thanks for all your great content Daniel!

I did everything you suggested, but something went terribly bad. It started wanting passwords, ID, using old user ID, on my MAC. It ended up changing all sign ins on my iPhone and iPad. Thank goodness I wrote down the changes, but the MAC did not want anything to do with your suggestions today. Now, I’m at a loss as to what all it changed. But I’m learning. I’m not sure if saved/transferred my photos to the MAC. It’s a mess,. No, I do not want any further help from you.

EXTREMELY complicated for someone in my 80s. My iPhone used to be set to where all I had to do was set the iPhone down near the iMac and it AUTOMATICALLY copied all new photos to the iMac. There must be some way to set it back to that program. Obviously this video isn't it.

I did this and I have a lot of photo contents on my IPhone (Around 33,000) and during my transfer it said my Phone was disconnected and after about an hour, 16,000 items were not saved and the transfer was cancelled. Help ?

No information or explanation what are the two selections mean, or how they are applied to your photos. How is “automatic“ different? And what does “compatible format“ mean? Is it the opposite of “keep original“? If I want to transfer photos that have been edited on my iPhone, will those edits transfer to my Mac if I have “automatic“ selected?
