Confession time: were you guys responsible for the tire tracks at 6:37?

After hating this car for years, I drove my sisters SQ4. She got it before covid hit for 38k in great condition and 2 years old. At that price, it is a phenomenal driving experience. Unique exhaust, 424hp, proper chassis and direct steering for its class. At 100+, it’s just not the proper full package a M5 or E63 is.

I personally have always liked the Ghibli but Maserati made an error a decade ago deciding to go for volume. Becoming an Italian BMW destroys the brand; BMW rose to its level of prominence; Maserati was always far "above" a lowly BMW and they decide to come downmarket to chase volume?? Bad idea. Alfa Romeo can be the Italian BMW (and are well on their way to achieving that). Maserati should be Porsche at a minimum; maybe even slightly above.

My theory for the stelvio and levante being more animated is because consumers are buying more crossover/ suv type of vehicles so it would make sense to put the more engaging driving experiences in those vehicles. Just my thoughts.

The current lineup feels like a remnant of a bygone era of a Maserati being hampered by FCA's penny-pinching shenanigans, and an odd affair with Ferrari. MC20 arrived with warm reception from motor journalists, and if Grecale and GranTurismo spy shots are anything to go by, Maserati is intent on reinvigorating their brand image. I hope it works out. Among the many automakers out there, I can't deny that the Trident badge has charmed me for what it could be.

That engine bay is absolutely amazing. It may be, of modern cars the best looking engine bay on the market.

Seeing this car makes me appreciate the Quattroporte 5 so much, Maserati needs to look back to it to see how to move forward with their sedans.

Just wait when the new Grecale and MC20 is available, both are clean sheet products from Maserati.

Maserati is going through what Cadillac went through years back when they had to chart a course for themselves and build on their legacy for sportiness and comfort from pre-WWII. Now Cadillac is beginning to finally make cars worth driving. Likewise, It time for Maserati to rediscover its place on the car world. Especially now since many other manufacturers are going to be turning electric. Suddenly that big V8 crutch that Maserati has relied on for years is gone then what.. the infotainment is from 2006, seats suck, styling is boring.

I love the Maserati Brand, but this car really does look tame and simple. I think it would look so much better with a meaner looking front and rear package.

Here in Utah in a sea of Teslas, Audis, Beamers and Mercedes...these Ghiblis do still stand out quite a bit as something more exotic. Almost no one buys Jaguars here so Jags stand out quite a bit as well

Someone needs to start tuning these cars..they would make a fortune...so much potential on these cars being twin turbo and all

Why pay 140k for a "heavy giulia quadrifoglio" when you could just get a regular one?

I've driven a Ghibli Trofeo and it is night a day difference over the standard car. I love the styling and interior myself, the materials and Italian leather are fantastic. Seats a little hard yes. But the price tag of around $120k US is hard to stomach.

I’ve always loved Maserati. They make wonderful, beautiful, gorgeous pieces of pure garbage. They are so unreliable to be worth 140k but if I ever have the money I’ll buy one I love them even if they are rubbish.

The charcoal grey Ghibli in Fast 7 really made me appreciate the look of the front end of this car. Looks really sleek with dark colors/accents and black wheels.

I think when it comes to cool points, normal people or fringe-gearheads see a Maserati assume it's expensive and rare, less so for the rare part when it comes to fringe-gearheads. To die hard gearheads with "normal cars" they know how cool the older ones were, like the old Quattroporte and GranTurismo, and know how much they've depreciated and the only thing stopping them from buying one or wanting one is common sense, but the new ones are way too overpriced. Then you get to those who have a generally accepted cool or good gearhead car, like a GTI/GLI, or also drive a luxury car, not necessarily the AMG or RS crowd, could be like an mSport that's actually a bargain performance car, or a newish normal trim luxury car - they see that the old Maseratis were seriously cool and these new ones are mostly only purchased by those who need to pay an 'idiot tax" for buying a mark for the mark itself, the anti-BMW driver. We know the new 4-series is terrible to look at but great to drive, the Maserati's are conditionally good design wise but not worth even a third of their weight in salt. It's a conspicuous purchase, you want others to think you have more money than you do have, regardless of what amount of money you actually have - well until the MC20 comes along, then it'll be back to normal.

It is very nice second hand car imo. After massive depreciation it will have good value for money

If I'd buy a Maserati, I'd buy it out of love for the brand. It wouldn't have to be better than a BMW or Mercedes. It would only have to be good enough to suit my needs. And the combination of a decent V8, acres of Italian cowhide and that lovely badge on the steering wheel are certainly a good start towards customer satisfaction.

E63S definitely cooler. I've always thought these cars were meh and kinda homely.. I guess I'm not alone. That thing is way too much $$$

For 140k I’ll take an E63s. This is a cool thing but for 80-90. Never 140. Hell thats creeping towards s63 money. Maserati needs to reinvent their brand and really decide what they want be in order to get customers to chose a car like this over an m5 rs6 or E63s. I hope the trident has a bright future, but as of now I feel they’re very far behind their German counterparts.

You guys are not getting the point of it. This brand is about luxury to be enjoyed slowly, and what the Germans want is that you eat like a pig instead of a polite, refined person. Refinement is this what all about Maseratis, the lines are timeless and technology is not luxury, which many people tend to confuse... although it's a great review, I think you guys missed the point. this car confuses me, dont particularly love the brand, the look in some ways, def doesnt need a 100k+ price tag but for what you get, a beautiful looking engine, decent v8, and .... idk thats why it confuses me

This sounds mean but I genuinely cannot wait for Maserati to die, lol. This platform and design already looked outdated when it came out, it's been I-couldnt-tell-you-how-many years since they made anything intriguing or worth its price tag. There are so many other fantastic options in their segments that I chuckle every time I see someone driving one knowing that they bought one purely because of the Maserati badge and took losses in literally every other meaningful driving department.

Please correct me if I am wrong I don't think Maserati ever made a sporty car. It's more like for people who want a Ferrari v8 in their sedan. Maserati does not cater to enthusiasts, never did. Maserati fans also do not watch RU-vid, I think....

Sounds like the better comparison apart from price is a Chrysler SRT or Charger. (OLD, LOUD, FAST, CREEKY AND SATISFYING). Its all about the badge.

So...did you like the car?? I was kind of thrown around the whole time with "don't like, like, don't like, like...hard seats..." I drove the other week a Quattroporte GranLusso with only the twin-turbo V6 in it and I had full manual and sport settings on and even though it is larger and heavier than the Ghibli, I still think it drove amazing. Comfortable, sport suspension (because I turned it on), great sound, smooth acceleration, speed...love it. I can't imagine this being worse than that.

Great review! This car looks like a Tesla Plaid and they both do nothing for me. Very basic, not meaty or sporty. The interior comes from a Grand Cherokee/Durando along with the displays so for over six figures I would leave this car at the dealer. Was never a fan of Maserati as they have done zero with there design in decades. Hmm, goes along with Dodge :-) No thanks.

Don’t know why people trippin about the Ghibli .. Because couple of pieces from Dodge now the car is no good .. I don’t care about it I have the most beautiful front car , FERRARI engine with the most Roar exhaust beautiful sounds in sedan and Comfy inside , amazing infotainment system .. and people will look At 👀 the car like wow .. M5, AMG Nor RS close to it .. I have one and I would not trade it for none of the others .. ❤love it guess people can afford it just complaining 😊

I genuinely think that if maserati just upgraded the base trim interior and some how their team figures out how to stop their depreciation % (similar to what I’d say about many Bentleys and some German cars) they would be worth almost every penny for that sound

Yeah, Maserati of late has been high of superficial looks and low on substance! In this case, performance and luxury touches. You have a Ferrari engine but hard seat and crummy screens. Plus the shiny carbon fiber interior trim looks to fake. I prefer a more subdued, almost matte carbon fiber look. Nice review of a not so great car.

It's not that the car is bad, it's a fun and elegant car to drive. It's that the car isn't worth its sticker price.
