Thanks for this info. Tried it out today and found it did make the riding position a bit more aggressive, but the corners felt a bit easier. I’m 6 foot. Decided to switch it back though, as I prefer upright comfy positioning with my old bad back!
It moves the handlebar position forward. Depending on your preference you may want the position closer or further away. If I was 6’ tall I would most likely want them moved forward to no have as much of a bend at the elbow.
I'm 6.1 and turned the stems around it's night and day difference for me .before I felt like I was going to go of the back of the bike .my arms are more extended now wish I seen this before I ordered new bars
@@grimreaper8038 This bike has the ability to put clip ons and has a 3 position rear set for that exact purpose!! This is the main platform for the R9 coming out in a year or so. I am buying this and when the R9 comes out, I will put its fairings on it and lower the bars or add clip ons.
I don't know if you went any further with this, but I just want to lower the bars 1 inch - 1.2. Do you have any idea how I can do that? I cannot seem to find anything by now. Thanks
@@robertsimion7808 I have seen any after market kits that have lower risers. Due to the supply chain problem around the world, I’m finding it difficult to just get a windscreen or tidy tail.
How on earth did you guys get the bolts for the stem (the two bolts underneath) loose? They are just completey stuck! And it's not the easiest bolts to access either. I tried with a relatively big torque wrench, set to 40 Nm / 30 lb-ft) and that is EASY. I must have tried to loosen these bolts with at least twice - if not more - force... But they won't budge. Did you guys remove the air intakes for more wiggle-room (the service manual says to do so)?
So what does it change, does it move the bars forward, back, down? I just bought the same bike and gotta say it's power is mental.. lol and even though l appreciate the high bars for commuting l feel I'm too upright when l open it up. Dunno l came from a bike with raised clip ons. Guess l want both worlds in one bike.
I’m 5’9 and left it standard. Moving it moves it forward by a could of inches which benefit someone taller. I haven’t seen anything yet to lower the headlight.
Hi, those 6mm hex screws on the handlebar, are they reverse threaded? I'm trying to break those free and they won't budge. Is there some secret to those? I'm trying to avoid stripping the head at all costs!
@@wreckdiver thanks! Was it high effort for you as well, or did they come out reasonably easy? tried all 4 of those nuts, They aren’t budging with any reasonable forced
Hi Djamila. I doubt it. Yamaha changed 90% of the bike. This includes the brackets where the headlight assembly would bolt on to. But more importantly they changes the couplers to connect the wiring.
I believe headlight and dash are on same cluster so your dash would most likely drop behind the handle bar risers and probably make things even more windy and will block some airflow to the radiator
