I have 2017 GT with some suspension improvements. This video tells me I should stick with it rather than trade up to a Mach 1, as it will likely be no quicker and possibly slower. Good buyer advice.
Next test should be 305 NT-01 square with an upgraded pad and track alignment without any upgraded suspension parts. Show what tires, alignment and pads do before adding special parts. The ecoboost is a purpose built track rat sporting a lot of negative camber front and rear.
@@Shaggie_Thrills Yeah, I have a straight pipe single exit on mine. I didn't want to spend 400 on an axle back and more on a resonator just to have it sound bad. Might as well sound bad (but very fun) for super cheap. It is fun though and does pop and crackle a lot. At this point I dont care that it doesn't sound all that good, but its so much more fun this way. Also not too loud suprisingly.
We addressed this towards the end of the video. Track conditions were very similar for both vehicles as it had just sprinkled before the EcoBoost went out as well. Hope this helps! -Chris
For the EB haters (plenty of them) out there, the lap time tells the tale. Spend any time at a track with turns, and you will see Miyata's lapping heavy V8's all day long. Sure, the EB emits a sound like a fart-can. But the people hearing it are behind you. And now that it's been out for a while, proven power adders make it plenty quick, and pretty sorted out. They indirectly, point out the basic 5.0 V8 problem, weight. The EB has a lighter front end and a better center of mass for autocross, track days, etc. I added a Steeda Tri-Axe short shifter to mine, it's so fun to drive at all those events. (amongst plenty of other Steeda go-fast bits) Don't get me wrong, I dig V8's, I6's, W10's, V-Twins, etc. But, a 1:20, beats a 1:24 all day long.
really good points here, but i think its worth noting the EB has had a shit load of work to it, only to edge out the MACH 1 in its stock form. also i noticed the MACH1 had the back s seat and the EB had the deletion, as you pointed out weight is everything, i feel the EB, has probably removed a few items not needed, also keeping the weight down. So in conclusion as stock vehicles, the MACH 1 would win hands down. This has nothing to do with engine size rather a track proven/ready vehicle versus a standard road car.
Wow, that Ecoboost just spanked that Mach 1 by over 4 seconds, on a short course. It just goes to show you that weight, handling, and brakes are more important than HP, when road racing.
Alright, I’m watching this in 2024, but c’mon 4.32 seconds faster than the Mach 1! Just how many parts do you have to throw at an ecoboost to make it cost as much as a base Mach 1? (That ecoboost didn’t even have the HPP.) Then you have to add the brakes, tires, springs, wings and go-fast pixie dust just to make the Mach 1 competitive with the ecoboost. How does that make sense? Oh, right, it’s the V-8 sound, duh.
Great video. Can't wait to see what the Mach 1 will do with the Steeda parts. I have a 2015 PP GT. Steeda springs, sway bars, vertical links, K member bracing, rear axle bracing, and shock tower brace. Incredible handling. Steeda makes great parts.
I honestly am saying this humbled, I have the gt pp1 and manual. When guys with the ecoboost start reving its a hair stratcher .I will never understand.Like alot of women
Its a shame that a Ford Ecoboost engine is still inferior to a VW TSi engine. It doesn't rev well. It can't make 400 crank HP as easy as the TSi. It heats up too fast. Volkswagen is far superior to Ford with turbo engines
The Ford eco boost engines hasn’t been out nearly as long as the Vw turbo engines have. I watched an modified Ecoboost straight up gap tf out of a RS3 from a dig on the same stretch the CTSV and Z06 ran on in my videos. That same stretch of rd the Audi and Eco ran on earlier that same night.
@@Sneaky5.sl0w. I specifically mentioned the Ford 2.3l ecoboost engine. The one derived out of the age old Mazda 2.3l block. The 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 ecoboost actually are ok and good but the 2.3 is very weak and the Ford 2.7l V6 is also good..the 3.5l ecoboost too is good but still inferior to 2.9l v6 of Audi and far inferior to Nissans 3.7l TT v6
@@VistaBlueGT Yes.. I said the Ford 3.5l TT s infetior to an Audi 2.9l v6 TfSi and it is weaker I ve seen how sluggish 3.5 eco is to rev out compared with the 2.9l of Audi which revs very fast for a V6 and makes insane power as low as 2000 rpm whereas even with lag compensation the ecoboost still feely laggy till 3000 rpm in a Ford Raptor
I'm really a fan of modern turbo engines... but this 4 cylinder Mustang just sounds like someone crashed a 5.0 into a tree and now tries to run away with a broken car :D
OMG,.. Really? A V-6 against a V-8? Or am I wrong on this vid? A PowerBoost 4.0, as impressive as the engine is, the suspension grip due to the light weight of the engine... Really? Come on man! A N/A 5.0 will dust a 4.0 V6 any day on the track or the dragstrip. Remember, Y'all gotta go stock vs stock... Performance mods are a different equation! I laughted at every inadequate Pony Car sporting a V6 on the road... Sigh....
Our Q350 build is not a V6, and this test was to compare how a stock vehicle compares to a modified and race-prepped car does on a brake-intensive course.
Great Video Steeda, Thank you! Question- why wasn’t there much discussion about the tires used on the Ecoboost? It seems to me that would make a big difference in braking and corner speed.
Nitto 315 Nitro NT-01 on the EB; stock Michelin Pilot Sport 4S on the Mach 1. Handling pack Mach 1 (which they were NOT using) has Cup 2’s. All that was covered in the video. Did you watch it?
Awesome video comparison!!! Im still doing everything I can to try and sell my 2v to buy an affordable 15-18 GT. Mach 1 is way out of affordable monthly payment range :-/
We addressed this towards the end of the video. Track conditions were very similar for both vehicles as it had just sprinkled before the EcoBoost went out as well. Hope this helps! -Chris
I'm sure the ecoboost is a great car. But I'm old school, driving a 5.0 manual is a really fun driving experience. That ecoboost won't last as long as a v8 will
Excellent comparison. I am impressed how well the Mach1 did against a race prepped Q350 EB. Of course the EB is better around the track it damn well batter be with all the mods, brakes and track tires. The lighter car always beats the heavier one on a road course because of the speed it can carry through the curves. A race prepped Mach1 would be a good match for the Q350 😁👍👍
