Looks and sounds amazing that doesn't it - and I totally agree about "middle weight" nakeds, it's where it's at for fun on the roads - I'd love to see you buy one of those Chopsy and see what the ownership experience is like......go on, do it!!
Is the MV a more expensive Street Triple RS etc or a proper middle ground between the ST and say the Speed 1200rs? I really want a Speed as an upgrade to me Street. But I just have the nagging doubt of ‘is it going to be fun’ …..
@@philipjames3526 I traded my 2014 Street Triple for this. Street Triple RS was just too near to my Streety performance wise, and Speed RS was too expensive in insurance and a bit too much. This is the middle ground. It's very playful and also very capable when you want it to be. It's not just the looks, it CAN also perform when you want it. Maybe not as accessible to wider audience as Street Triple is, but it can do and be everything Street can. It's light, revs high, handles great, very playful and pulls like train. 3 years warranty is also encouraging. I'm fully satisfied with the bike. It's my only bike, but I mostly do Sundays blasts to a lake and back (ca. 300-400km per ride max, often even less) so it's perfect for the job. I say go for it. 😉
@@Symbrio I’m so conflicted - in fairness, re performance Lamb Chops has done a grand job on stating it’s a step above the 765rs with out the craziness of the bigger hyper nakedness. MV Brutale RR or Speed Triple 1200….
My Brutale RR has been perfectly reliable. 4 years and 8000 miles. Which is far more than I can say for my KTM. I genuinely can’t see me ever selling my MV…. Chops, I recommend getting into the settings and setting a custom set up, then you can have everything dialled up to max aggression (power, quickshifter etc) except you can have the throttle response softer. If it’s the same as the older set up, try the following, takes extreme throttle sensitivity out of the equation but still allows the downshifter/blipper to work. Gas Sensitivity: Normal Engine Brake: Sport Maximum Torque: Sport Engine Response: Slow RPM limiter: Sport Removes snatchyness and makes it a joy. That removes your criticism of the Brutale you rode a couple of years ago. It’s tough though, on a normal length test you don’t really have the time or chance to try these things out. Personally prefer the look of the Brutale over the Dragster. Agree that it’s ‘more’ than a middleweight. Makes a street triple feel flat.
Great review. Thank you. I picked up one of these recently with the SCS. Glad I paid extra for it. My other bike is Z H2. I've only ridden the Z once since getting the Dragster and it is now up for sale. The MV has everything you need for street riding!
Perfect example of how we overlook imperfections when we're in love, surely what biking is all about. Loved MVs in all their quirky forms since seeing (and hearing!) Agostini on the works bikes 50 odd years ago - even when being beaten by a BSA 😉
I can’t believe how great that lump sounds and your right what a great induction noise. It really looks like a great Sunday carve up bike. Might have to take one out sometime. But would you pick one over a Super Duke R ? Great meeting you up Bury Hill last week👍🏻
Its a pity so many people are put off MV Agusta motorbikes because of perceived reliability issues.Mine has never missed a beat and the Chopsy vid shows they are a gem.I think MV are second only to Honda in terms of sporting achievement so they know how to build a glorious engine. At slow speeds around town just put it in rain mode to avoid a bit of twitch on the throttle and then switch to sport when you are ready to open up the taps.
Michael Hughes new MVs are very reliable .Have seen many with 30,000+ miles with no problems . Just dont any bike that was sitting for 4 years or a track day bike thats been beaten on every weekend . But that goes for any brand motorcycle .
I own a 2019 MV AGusta Dragster 800rr Pirelli edition. 140 horsepower and 410 pounds wet. The sound and uniqueness is intoxicating. I also own a super Duke. Wanted a smaller lighter bike. Bought the MV over the Ducati Streetfighter. The triple makes torque and horsepower like a V4 but with more character. Moving art.
15,000 miles on my 2015 Dragster RR and 3 started sprags... and one Certified SaddleSore 1000...my bike will go over 150 miles on a tank unless you are racing it...
Loving this, I’ve had my euro 4 2020 F3 800 a few months now and done a trackday and I came from a Panigale v2, I’m in love with the MV, I really am. It’s been years in honesty since I’ve found excuses to just use the bike for any little trip, but the MV is that bike. Reliability obv a worry but I had 4 warranty claims in 18 months on my Ducati, it was honestly silly, and the Ducati warranty was 2 years
I really is surprising how a machine can excite like the MV Agusta!! I've owned and driven all kinds of cars, exotic ones included and nothing has come even near to being on the same planet as that bike is in excitement! Even my old model Brutale (2013 model with 2015 electronic updates so identical to 2015 except paint), after years of ownership, did something I didn't think was possible: I just kept being more and more excited with it!? How does that happen? Never before have I had the naturally waning excitement of a new purchase instead be an ever increasing excitement?! I guess it's because of how much feel you get from riding that bike, and its immediacy and purity of its handling meaning you just learn more and more with it. Then the never-ending awe that engine produces, it never disappointing at all. Sure, as Lambchop said the brakes aren't perfect:in the previous video)breaker. Even the slightly shuddering and annoying engine being too excited to ride smoothly at low speeds on city streets, especially cobblestones are hilarious to ride on, but even with that I just like how it simply gives the bike more character, makes the ride more exciting. theorising at home about what to buy next, and can't do anything about my need to go out and ride with all that excitement again...
I love my Brutale 800, you are 100% correct that it couldn't be an only bike but when I do get on her I'm gauranteed a grin from ear to ear & that is what road bikes should be all about. Totally agree about the front anchors as well, my VFR1200 has better brakes!
@@LambChopRides That bike is for shorter riders that want and need more power than a 125, 200 or 300. I'm 5 foot even, female, and rode dirt bike circuit all my life but street is a much more dangerous situation than being on a dirt bike trail. I'm in the U.S and it's very hard to find a sport bike that fits your arms and legs when you're a bit vertically challenged. The U.S isn't as big in moto GP so we never have a good selection for bikes my size. I don't feel comfortable if I cant touch toe to ground without leaning on a street bike. Taller, stronger riders would rather have an H2 but there's a whole category of people like me who are absolutely stoked about these 800's. Thank you for your videos.
A great review, well its peace of mind really coz I recently sold a mint TVR Tuscan S to get one of these with SCS and the RC race kit. Fancied the RC but prefer the Kineo wire wheels, take delivery next month n can't wait, been too long away from 2 wheels.
I’ve had my MV Dragster RR-SCS for about a month now and 1600 miles. The biggest complaint I have is with the rock hard suspension. The TFT dash is not without its faults, you can only pair one phone and the navigation and font size whilst riding is laughable. If your 10 deep in the contacts menu, you have to back all the way out to exit the menu 🤷♂️. That said, banging through the gears at 11K, oh boy what a rush!
very good video, I'm getting exactly the same dragster in February and I'm wondering if the mirrors will hit the ground when leaning hard. Do you think there is enough space?
You should definitely buy one, if for no other reason at least for the content. As someone that’s been interested in the Dragster I can tell you there is very little information about this bike online. Thanks for the vid!
Oh dear, you know when you become a You Tube millionaire will you buy the rights to Performance Bike magazine and re publish it , it was a great mag, oh I miss it so.....!!!, Great vid btw and yes I am impressed. 👍👍👍👍👍🇬🇧
First magazine I bought as a teen absolutely loved it since the late 80's was gutted it stopped same as Fast Bike's from the Colin Schiller era in the 90's what a time to be on Sports bike's on the road !
The MV, is awesome looking and sounds great. Probably not your mug of rosie, but, BMW R1250R, naked, TFT, electronic suspension, rider modes, Brembo brakes, quick shifter/blipper, etc, etc, aanndd........135bhp, 135nm torque! I've got the 1200R sport (125bhp/125nm torque), really torquey motor, great in the twisties, handles well, goes well and comfy too! Very much an unsung hero in my opinion. Would be interesting to hear your opinions on one?! Grumps.
I have one and it is a beast when it comes to road speeds, since other bikes are not yet in their optimal rev range. So yes, you can smoke sport bikes with it, if you are experienced. On the other hand I am no longer satisfied with the electronic suspension, as there is simply no way of adjusting it properly. It always feels like there is not enough rebound in the rear, which makes it kind of wobbly when you don't want it. This causes me to feel disconnected to the bike sometimes, and goes as far as not trusting it. There were days, where I could get to 40-46 degrees of lean angle. On other days it would skid while leaning without giving it too much throttle, which was kind of terrifying. I have to say that I'm running on Continental Road Attack 3 without the 'GT' emblem. That improved the handling greatly. But the suspension and weight are still an issue. It probably helps you being a better rider, though :D I'm planning to keep it for road rides, as it is a great long distance bike. But for corner carving, I'm currently looking at the Aprilia RSV4 and the Tuono Factory.
Great review Chopsy! Enjoyable viewing as always. 👍🏻 Looks like you enjoy it as much as I do my 2021 MV Brutale 800 RR SCS! That 800 triple with counter rotating crank is simply a masterpiece. Perfect ownership experience so far and with 3yr warranty AND 2yr breakdown you’re covered. I’d highly recommend going for the Brutale instead of the Dragster - more agile, better naked riding position and save ££££’s (and better looking IMO). Two must haves from my experience: +SCS clutch - it’s incredible, you have to try it and you get launch control :) +SC Project Ti exhaust - think it sounds good stock… doesn’t begin to compare with one of these fitted. Got a big deal on mine from MV main dealer, PM for deets. Go on you know you want too!! Keep the great content coming 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@@LambChopRides He has a great point: so many people would probably be interested to hear about the SCS clutch! It's a real rarity in the motorcycling world! Even us previous MV Agusta owners would really like to hear real-world experiences and there are few reviewers I'd really trust, it would be great to hear it from you!
Hey Harry, lucky you for owning your brutale 800 rr SCS 2021 that my dream bike ! 😍 I hope one day I can afford it ! So far you seem to be very happy with it so it can only motivate to buy one, it's look incredible and sound amazing with the sc project exhaust ! I can't ride one right now because I have A2 licence but in a year I will sure try one to experience this motorcycle ! Because riding a bike it's all about how it's make you feel ! Enjoy your Brutale 😀
Owned one a 2016 Dragster RR...a beautiful bike from stock even more beautiful if u put in the aftermarket accessories..change the race air filter & the exhaust (mine is HP Corse) , u will be surprised..the harder to ride it the smoother it goes
Stunning bike. They look so good in the flesh. Nice to see some more dealers coming forward. If they get a demo I would be fascinated to see a review of the Tourismo Veloce. Looks like a fascinating take on a middleweight dual sport bike.
Overpriced, poorly supported, high revving engine, tiny tank size, why wouldnt chopsy recommend it as a road bike... even the f4 1000 had a 22L tank. I wish all reviewers would pay more attention to tank size. Seems like a lazy way to "save weight", and for most high km road riders tank size is important. Anybody want to guess why manufacturers might be trying to normalise low ranges for ICE's???
Hi there Chops! Next spring I’ll be in the market for a middle weight naked & I’m really thinking about the MV Dragster SCS. However, you recently had a review of the new Street-fighter V2, so my question to you is, which one would you recommend & why? Also, if it was you buying a middle weight naked, which brand & bike would you buy & why? It doesn’t have to be the ones on my radar. Your input is appreciated because I don’t get to test ride them. Here in the US where I live we don’t get to take a new MV for a test ride & the Ducati V2 is not on display, but only for order. Thanks!
Now the Brutale 800 is much cheaper then the Dragster 800 with the same frame suspension eletronics and TFT dash. Except the wheels. Now would you prefer it to this?
I've been waiting for this one Chops.....what a machine and such a looker as well. Awesome review again buddy and I think that it deserves to be in your garage too 👍😊
I had a 750s brutale and that bike also had that same induction noise, not completely the same but seems like all Agusta's have this. I like the bike but the footpegs were a bit to high for me, felt like I was cramped up there.
I couldn't ride that thing without thrashing it just to hear that exhaust sing. My shiver 750 gets revved a lot. I would have to live closer to the twisties to own the dragster or I'd be doing insane speeds in suburbia too much.
You can have a lot of fun without being sent to jail for mega speeding. Stick an SC Project system and SBS 706 pads and you’ll have a peach. Had MVs since 1999 and first mod is SBS pads on all of them.
"MV have finally cracked it" you say.... after telling us the suspension is sub par, the front brakes are naff and it's snatchy in town!? That a very strange " sorted" methinks you're not thinking you're reacting! which is not a good place to give reviews from!
How do you rate this vs the GSX-S1000 coming out? I would imagine in the end the performance and feel will be similar but with the usual Suzuki cheaper price tag and reliability?
Great review, and accurate. I own a 2018 Dragster RR: by this model year, MV had fixed the low end fueling issues. Still love my bike, and yes I also own a Moto Guzzi V7 III Special. The MV is just utterly fun. Issues these bikes have: rear brake loses pressure due to brake fluid tank below ABS unit under tail, exhaust flapper servo fails also. The bikes do need maintenance by a qualified tech. Yes, 120 mile range on the bike. MV dealers in the USA are rare. I am thinking about trading for the newer SCS version as my hands are small, and I have some arthritis (been riding since 1967). Well done.
Thank you for posting. MV having a history or reliability issues, being taken over by a Russian company? Hmmm... when was the last time I heard somebody say "get a Russian (fill in the blank here)_______________, their quality is tops!". Let me see. Oh yeah, never. ;) Having said that, the bike sounds great and it looks like it has that Italian flavor to it. Also, I am making fun of Russian quality while my BMW S1000RR has been sitting at the dealership for the past three weeks because they can't get the fuel pump (software issue) to work properly. Once the ambient temp rises about 37C it is anybody's guess as to how soon the fuel pump fails.
LOL. Please buy one Chopsy so we dont have to! No dealers, no reliability history, and now owned by Russians? What could possibly go wrong??? Ask Mavis…she probably knows….
Never understood you being a Tuono fan and owning a Superduke, and then buying that H2. Re, the MV and naked middleweights. Nah, buy an XSR900 and have it converted to that LC350 look. And have a nice family holiday with the change....
The M50 callipers aren't the problem. Most bikes that came with the M50's had the Master cylinder size according to Brembo. That's why Triumph implementation of the M50s on the 218-2020 Speed triple are so good coz they used the correct Master Cylinder. The Marzocci front forks aren't the problem as they also come of the F3 800 and there they give a ton of confidence, the problem is the Sachs rear shock spring is too soft for you weight, causing it to squat in the rear making the front feel unplanted and skittish. The throttle map can be made to deliver a better feel and give even more bottom end power but requires EcuStudio software. The MV's are neutered on purpose in low Rpm, but the 1000 Brutale is most neutered but the EcuStudio will help to unlease all the power!
How does it match up to the little Aprilia Tuono (my bike) in terms of fun and handling? It does look great to ride! But I can't help feeling the petrol bikes have almost had their day, especially here in France😪😪😪 At the end of this month, the whole of Paris is becoming a giant 18MPH zone. I'm either going to lose my license within a week or feel very stupid on the Tuono.
That's why if you're limited to only being able to own one bike, (rego fees, insurance, servicing a second bike gets expensive apart from a pcx160) you need a car and a dual purpose bike. Either that or a very good income. If that Augusta was your only bike, how often would you get to ride it in between having to test ride bikes for your channel?
Hmm actually it's a couple of thousand more! More power doesn't necessarily make a better bike. Speed is faster of course and is probably better in every way appart from engagement, this wins for fun and excitement plus the beautiful design and quality 😎 But yes Speed is probably the better bike
Fantastic review Chops. Always loved the look and sound of these MV's. But hold your horses mate. I have heard a rumour that Ducati are bringing a V2 streetfighter out next year based on the V2 Panigale. That would make a brilliant naked. Anyway take care and keep em coming.
Who cares about VW Group stuff? Only people who fall for multinational corporation marketing crap will even consider such drivel. Nothing is as uncool as VW products.
Hey Lamb Chop Rides, I liked the video and your feedbacks. I'm actually thinking of buying one of these one day... But I'm afraid about the reliability (like you mentioned). During the time you rided it, did you spot any sensible point that can stop someone from buying it ? Thank you in advance !
I have the 2020 800 rr scs, mv tre pistoni is a wonderful Sunday machine, I saw your front in video, set a bit harder the suspension release and your bike became a bit harder but very stable when u open throttle
Nice review. Very saucy. Sounds like a super car sample from Gran Tourismo. It is a tempting proposition. I may track down a local MV dealer & have a look out of interest as I've never taken them seriously for the reasons you mentioned. Just not up to scratch previously but maybe things have changed for the better seemingly.
I would take a week away from the bike(cooling off period) and if you still want it after a week then its the bike for you.Get rid of the H2 anyway.Cheers.
