Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I totally love the Slingshot SL 2021, and I have one on the way. Ultimately, people can spend their money on what they love, and what makes them feel happy.

Exactly! I own a Slingshot R autodrive with paddle shifters, and I enjoy every minute of it. I also own a truck that I never tow with, and also has a ton of off-road capabilities that I never really use, and although some people would consider that a waste of money I don't because it's what I wanted.

i just purchased a 2022 slingshot. I love it despite the subtle nuances I have spent twice as much on motorcycles with far less safety and creature comforts.

Shooting Cars I guess to each his own. Personally I own a 2021 Slingshot R autodrive with paddle shifters, and I have plenty of fun with mine. Most hypercars are super uncomfortable, and highly overpriced, but there's a market for them, no different than spending money to lift your truck. At the end of the day there's no price tag on someone's enjoyment, and just because you don't agree on a purchase doesn't mean there isn't a whole community that disagrees with you.

Polaris couldn't put a torque converter automatic in because it would put the Slingshot over the weight limit for autocycles/motorcycles. It could have been worse, they could have put in the CVT from the RZR. Now, if they would just put shift paddles in and borrow Honda's motorcycle dual clutch... The speedometer goes to 220 because it can switch to kilometers per hour. Notice that the unit is on the screen, not printed on the dial. 220KPH is 136MPH, which is 6MPH higher than the Slingshot's top speed. Newish GM vehicles do the same thing. The price is reasonable when you compare it to a loaded Harley-Davidson or Honda Gold Wing. It's open air like a motorcycle but you don't have to hold up 1000 pounds of bike. It's not really being cross-shopped with a Miata. Look up what a Polaris RZR 1000 or RZR Turbo sells for.

So is there no ATF fluid? Just gear oil like in a manual?

I own a 2016 SL with a stick, it is the most fun you can have in any vehicle. However I also live in California that has excellent weather most of the year, if you live in the Mid-West or the North East, you will probably own be able to drive the Slingshot when the weather is nice.

My take away from test driving the Polaris Slingshot is very similar to what you said, it drives more like a motorcycle, but not in a good way. It was a 2020 model as well, but my overall impression wasn't as nice. It's the ultimate plastic fantastic, cheap-mobile. Quite possibly the worst roadster I've ever driven. You should review the Vanderhall. A way better tri-wheel roadster, but with front wheel drive and a true automatic transmission. Way more planted and smoother, faster take-off. A little bit more money but way more features and panache. No cheap plastic, real fiberglass and aluminum throughout.

I test drove a Vanderhall Carmel last week. Great steering, great brakes but the thing feels like it's gonna fall apart. The CV joints have problems. The one I drove kept having a rattling on the right front side. I wasn't impressed sadly. Hoping to like it, because it's gorgeous. Handled good, but very loud and don't trust it. Gonna give the Slingshot a try

@@michaelm.6016 They are mostly hand built, you may have gotten a rough one. I don't think you're going to be very happy with the Slingshot. People that like the slingshot have never driven real driver's cars, even a slingshot can feel like an upgrade if all you've ever driven is a turd, but it's honestly really bad. It has snap over-steer if you drive it to take on corners. It's just plastic fantastic and isn't really a driver's machine. If you're dead set on a tri-wheeler, try another model from Vanderhall. I've test driven three or four and they have all been fun and impressive. I just never pulled the trigger because I don't have the garage space. Take it from a guy that's going on his fourth McLaren and actually tracks his cars, the Vanderhall is your best bang for the buck in the tri-wheeled segment and is a great driving experience for the money. FWD on two wheels is way better than the stupid RWD single wheel setup of the slingshot. It's just wrong in so many ways.

@@XennialGuy people that own or like slingshots have never driven real drivers cars? What the hell are you talking about?!?!
@XennialGuy
@XennialGuy Год назад
@@mjareacts2731 I stand by that statement. Everyone among my group of car gearheads that have driven the slingshot, hate it. If you have experienced or become accustomed to good driving cars, you generally will not like the slingshot. Now, it may seem I'm a bit biased because of the flavor of vehicles I have owned or experienced which include McLaren's, Ferraris, Lambos, etc., but I can appreciate a car for what it is, like the Vanderhall. The slingshot is just simply a poor driving experience from almost every aspect, like the steering, the transmission, and the engine, it's just subpar, if barely adequate. This is because it's inherently a motorcycle with three wheels trying to mimic a roadster, without the benefit of being a motorcycle. Now I know there are people that like it, obviously because it wouldn't sell, but I do believe those people have simply not experienced a true driver's car or roadster. You don't have to drive an exotic to get the same feeling, I think if you drove a Mazda MX-5 roadster back to back you would understand. I have given the slingshot multiple tries, thinking it might improve with updates. I don't see how you could drive a Vanderhall and still want to downgrade to a slingshot if the money were close, which it is at this point. It's like comparing a plastic Power Wheels toy to a custom made Go-kart. The two are vastly different yet cost almost the same and are trying to appeal to a similar "open-air roadster" audience. There are people that like the slingshot, and I am not downplaying that, but there's also a lot of people that like Taco Bell and think it is Mexican food.
