Is The 2019 Polaris Slingshot Worth $30K or the Price of a Mazda Miata? 

I never see anyone driving these in a bad mood, usually all smiles and enjoying themselves.

$30k?? Wow.. I thought maybe $12k.

30k is also the price of a V8 pony.

If you live in an area that has lots of potholes or road debris, don't get it, as it is virtually impossible to avoid them with the three wheel setup.

I have a 2016. Its awesome. It turns heads all day. Great for cruise around back roads, lakes, mountains and more. I paid $17 for mine. Added 5" taller windshield with tint. Amazing. If you want attention, get it. Its a blast. Summer only play car. Love it.

30K ? when did they get that high in price? They were 19k when they came out. That was more worth the price. 30k is stupid for that thing.

Give me those British sports cars any day over this Polaris thing! I owned ( and yes I'm cryin' now ) a chrome bumper MGB a few years ago,...why the heck did I sell that car??? Getting back to this Slingshot,..no I wouldn't want one, BUT I wouldn't turn down a chance to drive one, a little, maybe more! Thanks for this, Nathan!

The engine in your RzR is not a turbo charged 4-cylinder Nathan.... So no, the motor they’re using from GM in the Slingshot is unlike anything Polaris is currently using in their other product lineup.... Your RzR has a 925cc parallel twin which is turbo charged....

30k is a lot for a snowmobile on wheels. I'll take a edelbrock coyote crate motor and plop that in the f150.

Have had my 2016.5 SL LE for 3 yrs and I love it, have over 20k miles on it and still looks and runs like new. The warranty is great for what it is, 2 years unlimited miles , everything is covered. If I was hard on it and broke something, it was replaced with new no questions. I'm 5'9 and my hat stays on at 120mph. Been in the rain with it about 7 times and have set the cruise at 80 with no traction issues. I dont regret buying it at all for the amount of fun I have everytime I drive it.

My buddy uses his as a daily driver in Houston to take advantage of the HOV lane.

For 2 or 3 years, I had a 2006 Solstice with that engine and transmission. To this day when I tell someone how good that 5 speed felt, they laugh at me. Thanks for backing me up on that! Man, I wish I hadn't sold that little car. It was boat loads of fun. I'd bet the Slingshot with its much lighter weight would be a hoot. Who thought we'd see a car that made the Solstice's cargo space actually look good! Lol!

vanderhall > slingshot. same price point. less recalls. fwd, meaning less hydroplaning. plus the vanderhall's 1.4 turbo auto with manual shifter option is way more fun than the slingshot's clunky 2.4

You can buy a brand new Convertible Camaro or Mustangs for 27K

The Slingshot is harder to justify when you look at the top trim level. I argue you can have the same amount of fun on a base model for $20k new, or even in the 15k range very lightly used. Slingshot fun can be had for HALF of the $30k you're quoting.

I prefer plastic cars. A rusty old MG doesn't offer much protection either. The French were building plastic cars at one time.

Next time out try a Vanderhall !

I wrestled with my conscience buying one of these. I eventually just bought two harleys. I have no regrets.

If you think it's fun now, drive one with a 365HP Hahn Racecraft turbocharger kit.

This thing looks like a hot tub on wheels, or if someone tried to out-Transformer the Camaro. If you need this kind of attention please get a Vanderhall or Morgan.

Decent review. Big guy tips: To open the hood: Once you've pushed down on the lever there is a little plastic pad right above the latch. I put both hands underneath with thumbs on top and just pull back. Easy peasy. Getting in: I swing a leg in, put my butt on that side arm rest piece, put the other leg in and then slide down.

How reliable is that engine gonna be is my question

mines fine with v8 swap, traded Harley for it and smile every time I think of it

The Polaris RZR does not use a four cylinder engine. It's a 2 cylinder.

I drove my cousin’s, it’s fun but I would spend the money on something else. As far as British sports cars, the closest comparison would be a Lotus 7. That’s what it reminded me of. Interesting side note, my cousin told me that Harley riders are constantly flipping him off.

Had one is a toy really. On the dry they are ok. A bit of rain and is another animal. No traction at all. Good for a vacation toy.

Been meaning to mention that for awhile. lol) I personally would take the Miata over this.. if I were forced to choose between the 2. Want something that will cover you when the rain inevitably comes at you. And if you want the feel of a motorcycle .. get a motorcycle. Simple as that. ;)

I wish people would stop comparing the Slingshot with the Miata. They are two different vehicles made for different driving experience. I have a Slingshot and love it.

Personally I would not buy one used, it has to be brand new. These things tend to get abused by previous owners. I love this thing, I have been seeing a lot more of them lately on the road. I live in an apt and still want to by one lmao.

One thing they should have done to make his vehicle way more special is a big bore motorcycle engine, 200bhp and 11krpm. Who cares about the lower TQ with the sounds it would make!

the first model from a few years back was 19k. They are too expensive now. that tubo rzr you showed is 30+ grand... what a joke. the price is too dang high. I really do want a slingshot but.... that price point is ridiculous.

Love your video. Stupid fun? Yes. Jump in this and head out cross country and just giggle. I ride every day, not much into cars. This works for me. It's surely not for everyone just like bikes are not for everyone.

Looks like a fun toy that can only be used 4 months a year here in Colorado. 30 grand for it is totally stupid money. Amazing what Americans will spend their money on , this thing couldn't sell if it weren't for the easily available credit plans that lend money on stuff like this.

O wow that thing is stupidly over priced. I only paid 22k for used 2016 mustang convertible EcoBoost premium in 2016. I see so many of these things I thought they were dirt cheap. But I rather spend my money on a proper convertible. But hey to each it's own.

The Miata is far more worth it in refinement and materials. The more I look at these vehicles, the more I find them to be a ripoff, unless you just have money to wipe your ass with.
