2021 Polaris Sportsman 450 EPS Test Review. For 2021 The Sportsman 450 is back with new styling and a number of upgrades. Our test machine is the Sportsman 450 H.O. with EPS which has a starting price of $7,299 in the US but budget conscious consumers can opt for the non-EPS version with a modest starting price of $6,399 US.
Both options come in either Sage Green like our test machine or Zenith Blue for the same price. Polaris also has utility packages available for the for the non-EPS 450 H.O. that aren’t available as packages for the EPS version, but there are a lot of options in factory accessories for both models.
The ride is distinctly plush as we’ve come to expect from Polaris and for an entry level machine, the 450 h.o. retains a lot of the quality look and feel of Polaris’s more premium options.
The ride is distinctly plush as we’ve come to expect from Polaris and for an entry level machine, the 450 h.o. retains a lot of the quality look and feel of Polaris’s more premium options. Intuitive and easy operation is what Polaris was going for with their 450 and 570 class lineups and we feel they’ve accomplished that goal with the Sportsman 450 EPS. The clutch and shift lever operates smoothly giving the Sportsman a refined feeling compared to some of its competition. The long shift lever that we’ve considered awkward in the past, makes for easy control of gear selection especially for frequent shifting or while plowing or working in tight areas, and modest but usable power make it an ideal choice as a budget friendly tool or a capable trail explorer.

After a couple of years of focusing on 1000s, the 2021 Polaris Sportsman 450 is a refreshing reminder that you don't have to spend $10,000 plus to buy a capable 4x4 ATV for work or trail riding. Looking forward to your feedback.

I think the biggest comparison in today’s atvs needs to be their reliability/ durability over a few years of constant riding. This should definitely be something you guys cover.

I have a 22 450 and love it. Does all the work I need around the yard, and it ran great out at the Soggy Bottom MX ATV trails. When up and over evey single extreme rated trail they had. No complaints here at all. AWD worked great and never slipped or slid on the big loose rocks. I'm a big guy too...230lbs and it carried me up over every hill with plenty of speed.

Great review, a friend bought one after riding one of my ATV'S, he now practically lives on it and rarely takes his truck going around town. I took him on a 6hr ride that had every terrain except sand. It handled it all. The deep mud required some work but she went. But that was stock tires and deep mud, so I was impressed.

I get that the people that are brand specific like the can-am people like can-am and think it’s better than Polaris in every way. But from my POV I look at it as what ever is more practical for ur needs. Because I consider Polaris to veer more towards the utility aspect of things, and can-am to be more towards the utility sport aspect of things.

id love to see a video on one of the ds650's, I've always been interested in them but I've never seen any quality videos on them actually explaining anything.

Recently got to drive a 2022 model, and can say I actually was blown away. Maybe it was because I had such low expectations prior, but dam for under 7 k that's a hell of a ride. I thought the power on ,50 inch trails was great, smooth but torquey. Handling was fantastic and smooth. Was nice having a gas sipper that I didn't have to throw a bunch of roto pax fuel caddy's on them to make it back.
