AJ's high up in the mountains delivering his full review of Ski-Doo's 2021 850 E-TEC Turbo powered Summit Xpert 165. #ThatSkiDooFeeling #skidooGameChanger #snowtraxtv
My favortite 2 strokes are the rotax etec, fairbanks morse OP and EMD and achates power. rotax is the jimmy of snowmobiles! I got an omc small block 4l side oiler and this 850 rotax is a side oiler!
Ah man I would love to ride one of those baby’s I have a 2015 Yamaha viper and was looking for either putting a turbo on it or go for a ski doo 850. I rode my friends 800 and I loved it but I also love mine and it’s hard for me to switch or keep
Hey DEVUNK88, AJ here, I hear what you're saying but from the manufacturers own mouths the majority of mountain sleds sold are ridden at 6000 feet or lower. Their info not ours so that's why I spoke to that.
@@cacsrx1 As I stated in my comment, from the manufacturers own mouths. They told us where the majority of mountain sleds are sold and their data says the altitude their surveys filled out by actual buyers ride at. Unless they are lying to us but when they told us this info there was no reason to try to fool us.
@@cacsrx1 All 4 manufacturers like nearly every manufacturer of consumer goods does a lot of surveys and focus groups of consumers to find out how they are doing, how consumers are using their products and what they can do better. It's just fact.
@@snowtrax Hey AJ, no insult intended btw , I just thought it was funny. I dont really know how tall mountain can be on average I just assume the summit meant the top, so thats where she was designed to go, and I assume the renegade is for exploring the foothills...You guys do a great job, I really enjoy the show, second to none.
@@snowtrax ya it seems that way, Yamaha is really listening. the sleds these days are really incredible, I still ride an 86 skidoo formula ss and plus along with to 99 zr 500's... I dont ride that much though, no snow in Ohio. I ride vicariously through the SnowTrax youtube channel
This is the first 2 stroke turbo, that alone is huge for a first time sled, if sales are good you can bet hp numbers will be increased down the road at lower altitudes
The Federal Reserve phony money printed from thin air causes inflation .. The Value of a dollar keeps going down .. It's not the fault of Manufactures..
@@mikeskidmore6754 no it isn't. But your pay isn't increasing with every new bill they produce. Sooner or later the days of sled purchasing will come to an end. Along with many other things.
@@oldwrench4213 I paid $7,190.00 for a Brand New Z-28 Camaro and made $8.00 per hour back then .. My Dad paid $3,200 for a 1970 Monte Carlo .. How much did your sled cost ?
Are artic cats good sleds? Everyone makes them out to be bad. I’m 14 and want to save some money for a sled for me and my little brother around 17-18. I could probably get a 2010ish 800 artic cat. Are they good?
Nope, thats the point I'm making. The $4-5 k in your pocked is a lot of dough for a sled that really only delivers above 6-7000 feet when the average mountain rider is not venturing that high. (Based off numbers form the manufacturers) Should you want to Turbo a Polaris we have been told you can do a Silber kit for around $5k, however HP numbers are above 200HP, but it's not a fair comparison because it's not factory.
@@cacsrx1 From Silbers website - Question: I want to run pump gas, can I? Answer: That all depends. We have customers running pump gas from sea level all the way to 13,000 feet on all models. We test with pump gas and often run it in our test sleds. However, all pump gas is not made equal. Pump gas breaks down at a very fast rate, and often higher octane pump gas at lesser traffic'd gas stations is stale by sledding standards. However, if you are getting good quality pump gas that is ethanol free and running boost that is in check with your elevation (see your owners manual) you can possibly run it! We would prefer all customers run a bit of 100LL as a cautionary measure, but again, this isn't always required. Question: How much boost can I run? Answer: This is the most common question from a prospective customer, and the least common question from a customer who owns a kit. Why is that? Because most quickly realize a clean running sled at even a "measly" 5psi in the mountains is a handful. Our kits reliably run up to 10psi in the mountains, slightly less at sea level, but 99% of our customers never go past 7 in the mountains and 5 at lower elevation. The sled simply becomes too much to handle this side of straight up drag racing.
Now they may be lying, but I'm going to assume that 5PSI at sea level is going to build pretty decent power. It's hard to figure out the numbers without a dyno but I can assume that it would be pushing at least 190hp on the conservative end. Maybe you've got a better line on 2 stroke turbo's testing and stats than Silber though....... Facts aren't fake news.
Its actually a 2021 but they didn't have the proper graphics and plastic for us to ride at the time. But seeing as there are no changes besides colour and graphics I guess really it's a wash.
@@mxracer78 The Ski-Doo engineer who handed me the sled filled up with gas said it was a 2021 with 2020 graphics because they didn't have finalized graphics at the time. Either way if there is a different wiring harness thats not gonna change the way the sled rides so I think it's still ok.
SnowTrax TV Alright good to know. Excited for this next season of you guys riding all the different turbos and hearing your reviews. I love doo to death but I will never ever buy a first year motor from any manufacturer even if they do have a good record. See you all next year!
@@big_whiskey1387 Well we appreciate you watching and spending some time on here commenting. It's fun to read all this stuff, good/bad/indifferent I like it all.
Can just hear it in your reviews about how you feel about “Ski-doo”, “never good enough”. I wonder if Polaris is paying u royalties to sugar coat their rides.
LOL, and if I said Ski-Doo was the best I'd have another person just like you commenting who can't hear that any brand but theirs is the best. Ski-Doo made the best sled (at the time) in my opinion with the original Rev, Loved it, swore by it, today I don't think that is the case. Are they capable of building the best, absolutely. I have an opinion, you have an opinion both are ok to have. Ski-Doo and Polaris pay us, but neither buy my opinion. SnowTrax and Supertrax stand on reporting our opinion and not being swayed, it's just right now you really don't like my opinion. And thats fine, but you're not going to sway it either. Thanks for watching, either way we appreciate folks love or hate of what we say, thats what makes the world go round ~ AJ
@@snowtrax The world of snowmobiling is like no other sport/hobby. Ski Doo fanboys are a rare breed who literally can't handle any criticism of their brand whatsoever. People need to relax - awesome competition only makes their hero brand better in the long run!
@@nsa6790 Yup we suspect the same, they want to keep belts and pistons from getting tore up. I'll be interested to see what happens when folks put on Bikeman kits or similar. I'm guessing dealers will have a way to see if anything has been changed, and I know for sure there are certain parts on the engine that if adjusted in any way show tell takes to Ski-Doo right away. You can be sure there will be voided warranty.
SnowTrax TV I 100% agree with your assessment. My only question would have to be isn’t it ski doo that stated that the chassis/motor can handle much more than 165 horses they just limited it to that for reliability standards? Maybe if you lock the waste gate open to say only deliver a +20 or +30 horsepower advantage that might give you an advantage but not ruin your reliability. But that would definitely wreck your warranty for sure!
if you think the 2003-2007 ski-doos don't look awesome and the Skidoo design team killed it I will personally show up at your house and tell you your wrong
