Under the direction of Kapua Dalire-Moe, the wahine of Hālau Ka Liko Pua O Kalaniākea perform "He Aloha Waiau".
These mele are composed by Kumu Kawaikapulani Hewett who pays tribute to his familial ties to Maunakea and the deities of that landscape. The kaʻi and mele pay homage to Lilinoe, the goddess of the mist that falls peacefully on the slopes.
And the mele honors the goddess Waiau, who reside in the lake atop Maunakea known by the same name. LIlinoe, Waiau and their sister Poliʻahu, goddess of the snow dwell a top Maunakea and embody the many forms of life giving water sourced atop this majestic mountain.
